Biological Characteristics of Anodic Electrolyzed Water (산성전리수의 생물학적 특성)

  • Biological characteristics of anodic electrolyzed water were investigated in this study. Linear DNAs which were incubated at $4^\circ{C}$ and $25^\circ{C}$ for 10 mins in the anodic electrolyzed water were degraded about 40% and 50%, respectively. But the DNA was amplified pretty well without any degradation through polymerase chain reaction in the presence of anodic electrolyzed water. Protein degradation hardly occurred in the distilled water during entire incubation time of 7 days, while protein began to be degraded from 4 days in the anodic electrolyzed water. Rice seeds could germinate in the distilled water and anodic electrolyzed water with the same germination ratio, however, the anodic electrolyzed water inhibited the growth of roots and total length of rice seedlings in the soil. Anodic electrolyzed water did not affect the growth curve and cell number of marine alga significantly. The anodic electrolyzed water inhibited the browning of potato by inactivating 50% of polyphenol oxidase activity.

  • 본 연구에서는 산성전리수와 환원전리수의 미생물 제어력을 정량적으로 비교하였다. 산성전리수와 환원전리수에 병원성 미생물을 각각 시간별로 노출시킨 결과, 산성 전리수와 환원전리수 모두 미생물을 제어 할 수 있다. 특히 산성 전리수는 각종 병원성 미생물에 대하여 순간적으로 미생물을 제어하는 강력한 살균효과를 보여주었다. 이에 비해 환원전리수는 산성전리수의 강력한 미생물 제어력에는 미치지 못하기는 하지만, 시판되는 무기 항균제보다는 우수하거나 비슷한 미생물 제어력을 보여주었다.

  • The effects of intra-particle composition on the adhesive properties and water dispersity of acrylic emulsion type pressure sensitive adhesives (PSAs) were investigated. In the case of PSA having uniform intra-particle composition, the higher holding strength made the water dispersity lower. By changing the intra-particle composition in hard core/soft shell type, however, it was possible to get PSAs showing both high holding strength and water dispersity. When the weight ratio of MAA/AA is 4/1, high holding strength, but low initial tack and very low water dispersity were observed in both cases of higher contents of (AA+MAA) in core and shell area. When the weight ratio of MAA/AA is 1/4, however, higher water dispersity and lower holding strength were indicated in the case of higher contents of (AA+MAA) in shell area.

A Study of Analysis Methods on R&D Productivity Using Patent and Paper Analysis (특허 및 논문분석을 이용한 연구생산성 분석 기법에 관한 연구)

  • Global R&D environment is entering on more complicated aspect gradually and tends to increase sharply in a quantitative manner. Technology competition is getting higher. This study intends to raise recognition of a necessity of productivity in a rapidly-changing R&D field and to suggest alternatives for improving its research productivity. For it, the research productivity was analyzed by utilizing two processes of patent analysis and paper analysis. According to the analysis result, it can be confirmed that Korea has the low research productivity compared to advanced countries such as USA and Japan. Government-supported research institute showed the relatively low research productivity, compared to foreign research institutes. It is confirmed that the company research institute has better research productivity than the government-supported research institute. Analyzing the present situation of research productivity through such the patent and paper analysis, seems to contribute to suggest how the research must be done in order to identify the factor of hampering the competitiveness acquisition and to improve the future R&D productivity.

pH Changes in the Rhizosphere Soil of Pokeberry (미국자리공의 근권 토양산성도의 변화)

  • The measurement of pH in the rhizosphere soil was conducted to clarify whether the growth of pokeberry plants affect the acidity of rhizosphere soil in two environmentally contrasting area Ulsan and Chongju city. The rhizosphere pH between 5.25 and 5.33 was shown in the pokeberry stand at Mt. Boomo located at Chongju. The rhizosphere pH of pokeberry stands at Mt. Bongdae, Mt. Sinsun and Mt. Totchil was below 5.0, and did not differ with depth and distance from the main axis of root. At Mt. Bongdae, however, the pH in the rhizosphere soil was significantly changed with soil depths though that was not changed horizontally. The rhizosphere pH at top soil was lower than that at subsoil, which indicates the fact that soil acidification at Mt. Bongdae was not caused by pokeberry plants. Furthermore, the rhizosphere pH did not change with the growth of pokeberry plants. These results indicate that the hypothesis that pokeberry plants acidify local soil environment should be reconsidered.

Ammonia neutralization and removal using electrolyzed-acidic water (전해산성수를 이용한 암모니아 중화와 제거)

  • An electrolyzed-acidic water treatment was investigated as a methods for removing ammonia, which is a cause of odor in life environment. The prepared electrolyzed-acidic water was found out as stable solvent capable of neutralizing weak alkaline ammonia by measuring changes in pH and ORP. It was found out that ammonia was removed from the mixture solution of electrolyzed-acidic water and ammonia water by the UV-vis absorbance analysis and electrochemical open-circuit potential measurement. The neutralized ammonia by electrolyzed-acidic water and effectively removed odor was measured using ammonia gas detecter. Consequently, we recommend the electrolyzed-acidic water can effectively and safely remove ammonia in eco-friendly.

VaR and ES as Tail-Related Risk Measures for Heteroscedastic Financial Series (이분산성 및 두꺼운 꼬리분포를 가진 금융시계열의 위험추정 : VaR와 ES를 중심으로)

  • In this paper we are concerned with estimation of tail related risk measures for heteroscedastic financial time series and VaR limits that VaR tells us nothing about the potential size of the loss given. So we use GARCH-EVT model describing the tail of the conditional distribution for heteroscedastic financial series and adopt Expected Shortfall to overcome VaR limits. The main results can be summarized as follows. First, the distribution of stock return series is not normal but fat tail and heteroscedastic. When we calculate VaR under normal distribution we can ignore the heavy tails of the innovations or the stochastic nature of the volatility. Second, GARCH-EVT model is vindicated by the very satisfying overall performance in various backtesting experiments. Third, we founded the expected shortfall as an alternative risk measures.

Damage Conditions and Assessment for Cut Slope Structures due to Acid Rock Drainage (산성암반배수에 의한 절취사면 구조물의 피해 현황과 평가)

  • The aim of this study was to investigate damage conditions of cut slope structures due to acid rock drainage (ARB) and to assess the acid production potential of various rocks. Acid rock drainage is produced by the oxidation of sulfide minerals contained in coal mine zone and mineralization belt of Pyeongan supergroup and Ogcheon group, pyrite-bearing andesite, and Tertiary acid sulfate soils in Korea. Most of cut slopes producing ARB have been treated with shotcrete to reduce ARD. According to the field observations, ARD had an adverse effect on slope structures. The corrosion of shotcrete, anchors and rock bolts and the bad germination and growth diseases of covering plants due to ARD were observed in the field. The concentration of heavy metals and pH of ARD from cut slope exceeded the environmental standard, indicating a high potential of environmental pollution of surrounding soil, surface water and ground water by the ARD. According to acid base accounting (ABA) of the studied samples, hydrothermally altered volcanic rocks, tuffs, coaly shales, tailings of metallic mine had a relatively high potential of acid production but gneiss and granite had no or less acid production potential. It is expected that the number of cut slopes will increase hereafter considering the present construction trend. In order to reduce the adverse effect of ARD in construction sites, we need to secure the data base for potential ARD producing area and to develop the ARD reduction technologies suitable.

오차항이 이분산성을 가지는 일원분류 모형에서 일반 F-검정의 유의수준에 관한 고찰

  • 일원분류 모형에서 표준 F-검정을 하기 위해서는 오차항에 대한 등분산성을 가정한다. 그러나 실제로 이러한 가정은 지켜지기 힘들며, 이에 더불어 관찰치가 각 집단별로 일정하지 않고 불균형한 경우에는 F-검정의 유의수준이 지정된 값을 만족시키지 못하며, 따라서 검정력에 관한 분석은 의미가 없게 된다. 본 연구에서는 등분산성이 지켜지지 않고, 자료가 불균형한 경우, 현실적인 상황에서 일반적으로 사용되는 F-검정의 유의수준 유지라는 문제가 어 떤 변화를 겪게 되는지를 확인하고, 더 나아가 유의수준을 유지하기 위해서는 어떤 식의 조정이 가능한지를 살펴보았다.

  • 현재 동북아시아를 중심으로 한 산성비가 지구규모의 환경문제로서 주목을 받고 있으며, 세계 각 지에서 산성강하물에 관한 연구가 활발히 진행되고 있다. 그러나 생태계 및 주변 환경에 미치는 영향이 더욱 심각할 것으로 지적되고 있는 산성안개에 대한 연구는 활발하지 못하다 이는 아래와 같은 이유와 어려운 점들이 있기 때문이다. 산성안개가 상성비보다 생태계에 더 심각한 영향을 미치는 이유로 지적되는 것들은; 1. 안개는 지표면부근에서 발생하며, 미립자로 대기 중 체재시간이 기로, 오염물질을 다량 함유하고 있을 가능성이 높다.
