An efficient method for the calculation of wave forces on a tension leg platform(TLP) is presented in this paper. It is based on the Morison's equation with two corrective terms. One is the reduction of the inertia forces on the vertical columns in order to include the wave diffraction effect particularly for small wave conditions. The other is the inclusion of the hydrodynamic forces acting at the bottoms of the columns. Numerical studies are carried out for a TLP in 1000 ft water with two different wave heading angles($0^{\circ}$ and $45^{\circ}$). The reponse amplitude operators(RAO's) for the TLP motions and top tether tension variations are obtained by the present method and the theoretically more accurate method based on the diffraction theory. A comparison has been made between the results obtained by two methods.

In this paper, the solutions of TE(transverse electric) scattering problems by a condutive strip grating over a dielectric layer are analyzed by using the FGMM(fourier galerkin moment method) and PMM(point matching method) known as a numerical method of electromagnetic fileld. The scattered electromagnetic fields are expanded in a series of floguet mode functions, the boundary conditions are applied to obtain the unknown field coefficients, and the conductive boundary condition is used for the relationship between the tangential electric field and the induced surface current density on the strip. The numerical results for the reflected and transmitted power of zeroth mode analyzed by according as the width and spacing of conductive strip, the relative permittivity and thickness of dielectric layer, and incident angles. Generally, according to the relative permittivity of dielectric layer increased, also the normalized reflected power of zeroth mode increased. To examine the accruacy of this paper, the numerical results of FGMM shown in good agreement compared to those of PMM.
Underwater acoustic communication channel parameters consist of impulse response, delay spreading, scattering function, coherence bandwidth, frequency selective fading, coherence time and time variant magnitude fading statistics on which communication system modem and channel coding are designed. These parameters are influenced by sound velocity profile, platform motion and sea surface roughness in given acoustical oceanography condition. In this paper, channel model based on phasor, channel simulator, measurement and analysis method of channel parameters are given in a fixed source-to-receiver system and the parameters are analyzed using shallow water experimental data. For two different source-to-receiver ranges of 300 m and 600 m, the parameters are characterized by three multipaths such as a direct, a surface reflection path with time variant scattering and a bottom reflection path. The results present a channel modelling method of a fixed source source-to-receiver system, channel parameters measurement and analysis methods and a system design and performance assessment method in shallow water.

Scattering center extraction schemes for radar cross section reduction of large complex targets, like warships, was developed, which are an 1-D radar image method(range profile), and a direct analysis based on an object precision method. The analysis result of partial dihedral model shows that the presented direct analysis method is more efficient than the 1-D radar image method for scattering center extraction of interested targets, in terms of radar cross section reduction design, not signal processing. In order to verify the accuracy of the direct analysis method, a scattering center analysis of an naval weapon system was carried out, and the result was coincident with that of another well-known RCS analysis program. Finally, an analysis result of RCS and its scattering center of an 120m class warship-like model presented that the direct analysis method can be an efficient and powerful tools for radar cross section reduction of large complex targets.

Numerical modeling of a nondestructive testing system plays an important role in many aspects of quantitative nondestructive evaluation (QNDE). The ultimate goal of a model is to predict test results for a specific flaw in a material. Thus, in ultrasonic testing, a system model should include the transducer, its radiation pattern, the beam reflection and propagation, and scattering from defects. In this paper attention is focused on the scattering model and the scattered fields by defects are observed by an elastodynamic boundary element method. Flaw types addressed are void-like and crack-like flaws. When transverse ultrasonic waves are obliquely incident on the flaw, the angular distribution of far-field scattered displacements are calculated and presented in the form of A-scan mode. The component signals obtained from each scattering problem are identified and their differences are addressed. The numerical results are also compared with those obtained by high frequency approximate solutions.

In this paper, we present various combined field integral equation (CFIE) formulations for the analysis of electromagnetic scattering from arbitrarily shaped three dimensional homogeneous dielectric body in the frequency domain. For the CFIE case, we propose eight separate formulations with different combinations of testing functions that result in sixteen different formulations of CFIE by neglecting one of testing terms. One of the objectives of this paper is to illustrate that not all CFIE are valid methodologies in removing defects, which occur at a frequency corresponding to an internal resonance of the structure. Numerical results involving far scattered fields and radar cross section (RCS) are presented for a dielectric sphere to illustrate which formulation works and which do not.

In this paper, an analysis of TE-wave scattering from transversal-shifted tandem slits using fourier transform analysis and Wiener-Hopf technique are derived and the electrical performances have been compared with a commercially availabel software. In Fourier transform analysis, it is shown that a fast-convergent series solution can be obtained when the distance between the slits is very narrow, while in Wiener-Hopf technique, it is found that the highly-accurate approximation can be obtained when the gap between the slits becomes wider. In addition, this paper has dealt with a good agreement between two analytical solutions.

A coated perfect electric conductor(PEC) interface to reduce scattered fields can be efficiently modeled by using the impedance boundary condition. The self-dual integral equation(SDIE) proposed by Yan et al. may be an efficient multi-level fast multipole method (MLFMM) formulation for the impedance object. This equation can be applied to an inhomogeneous impedance material, but its accuracy can be degenerated when the material contains a PEC or perfect magnetic conductor(PMC) region. In this paper, we modify the original SDIE formulation for an inhomogeneous object containing a PEC or PMC region and numerically verify its accuracy.
