육용종계의 영양

  • 육용종계 암탉의 사양관리는 하나의 예술이라고 한다. 이 말은 육용종계의 관리는 그 닭의 유전능력과 환경조건에 따라서 그때 그때 최선의 방법을 찾아 닭의 생리적인 상태를 최적의 상태로 유지해야 한다는 것을 의미한다. 따라서 모든 농장에다 잘 부합되는 특정한 사양방법을 확립하는 것은 매우 어렵다. 각 육종회사에서는 자기회사의 닭에 대한 체중, 사료급여 프로그램, 표준성적 등에 대한 기준을 설정하고 있다. 그러나 이들은 어디까지나 기준은 될 수 있지만 실제로는 농장마다 자신의 실정에 알맞는 프로그램을 개발해야 한다. 가장 바람직한 종계 사양방법은 각각의 계군마다 체중, 주령, 산란율, 기상조건 및 그 계군의 외관이나 상태에 맞추어 관리하는 것이다. 이러한 요인들을 모두 고려해서 매일 매일의 사료량을 늘여주거나 줄여준다. 따라서 종계관리자는 그 자신의 닭에 대해서와 사료에 대해서 알아야 한다. 여기에서는 종계의 영양관리에 있어서 기본적인 원리를 정리해보고자 한다.

The Effects of Different Methionine and Lysine Levels in. 15% Iso-protein Diet on the Performance of Laying Hens (동일한 단백질 수준의 사료에서 Methionine과 Lysine수준이 산란계의 생산성에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of dietary methionine and lysine levels on laying hen performance. The level of protein was fixed 15% during whole experiment period, but the levels of methionine and lysine were 0.30% and 0.58% (Low), 0.32% and 0.64% (Medium), 0.35% and 0 70% (High), respectively. Total 288 laying pullets of 22 weeks age were reared from January 28, 1989 to March 23, 1990 for 60weeks. The results obtained were summarized as follows : 1. The e99 Productions were highest in medium treatment in phase I (22~42weeks of age), phase II (42~62 weeks of age) and phase III (62~82weeks of age) and especially, there was significant difference among treatments during phase II (P<0.05). 2. Egg weight was significantly increased as the levels of methionine and lysine were increased up to methionine and lysine were 0.32% and 0.64%, respectively(P<0.01). 3. Daily egg mass was highest when the levels of methionine and lysine were 0.32% and 0.64%, respectively and there were significant differences among treatments during phase I and phase II (P<0.01) 4. Daily feed intake was increased as the levels of methionine and lysine were increased, and there was significant difference among treatments during phase III (P<0.05). 5. Feed efficiency was best in medium treatment in phase I and phase II (P<0.01) 6, Viability was highest in medium treatment, but there was no significant difference among treatments. 7. Nutrient utilizability of experimental diets was not significantly different among treatments. 8. Eviscerated yield was highest and abdominal fat accumulation was lowest in medium treatment, but there was no significant difference among treatments. 9. Egg shell quality and chemical composition of egg content were not different among treatments. 10. The feed cost per kg egg mass was lowest in medium treatment and there were significant differences among treatments in phase I, phase II and whole egg laying period(P<0.05)

Comparison of Performance of Laying Hens in Molting Methods (유도 환우 방법에 따른 산란계의 생산성 비교)

  • The objective of the present study was to compare of the effects of four molting methods on performance of laying hens. In total, 120 White Leghorn layers (62 weeks of age) were used. The four molting methods consisted of 10 days of feeding and the first 3 days of water withdrawal (FW1, 2) followed by ad libitum access to a layer diet 1 and 2 from day 11; 28 days of restricted feeding (NFW1); 28 days without withdrawing their feed (NFW2). Egg production of postmolt decreased until $3{\sim}4$ days at FW1 and FW2 treatments and until $16{\sim}18$ days at NFW1 and NFW2. 50% recovery of egg production were 7, 6, 7 and 5 week at FW1, FW2, NFW1, and NFW2 treatments, respectively. At day 14 of postmolt, the weight of livers, hearts, and oviducts decreased at molting treatments (P<0.05). Egg quality was improved on egg weight, eggshell thickness, eggshell break strength, and Haugh unit except egg yolk color (P<0.05).

Studies on Development of Optimum Laying Hen Diet during Summer Period (산란계에 대한 하절기 사료 개발에 관한 연구)

  • These studies were conducted to investigate the effects of dietary protein and metabolizable energy(ME) levels on layer performance during summer period. Total 480 ISA Brown egg-type layers ageing 49 weeks housed 2 birds per cage with 4 replictes of 20 birds were employed in this study. Mean environmental temperature over experimental period ranged from 22.3$^{\circ}$to 29.5$^{\circ}C$. The treatments consisted of dietary ME levels of 2500, 2700, 2900kcal/kg of diet containing 15% and 17% protein, respectively, to provide $3{\times}2$factorial design. As metabolizable energy level increased form 2500 to 2900 kcal/kg of diet, daily feed and protein intake, egg production. egg weight, egg mass decreased, but the reverse was true for the daily energy intake, energy requirement and feed costs per kg egg. Feed conversion(kg feed/kg egg) and viability were not affected by the dietary energy levels. However, there were no significant difference in egg production, protein requirement per kg egg, and egg weight between those hens fed 2500 kcal ME/kg diets and those fed 2700 kcal ME/kg diets, and no difference was found in egg weight between those fed 2700 kcal ME/kg and those fed 2900 kcal ME/kg, either. In addition, no specific trend was observed in protein requirement per egg by the different level of metabolizable energy in diets. On the other hand, as dietary protein level increased from 15 to 17%, daily protein in-take, egg production, egg weight, egg mass, and protein requirement and feed costs per kg egg increased, but feed and energy requirement per kg egg decreased, and no significant difference in the daily feed and energy intake and viability were observed among dietary protein levels. It was concluded that metabolizable energy level of 2500 kcal/kg of diet and 17% dietary protein level were considered to be adequate to support the optimum productivity of layers during summer period.

Influence of Probiotics Supplementation on Egg Quality and Excretal Noxious Gas in Laying Hens (산란계에 있어 생균제의 첨가가 계란품질 및 배설물내 유해가스 함량에 미치는 영향)

  • This study was conducted to investigate the effects of feeding probiotics on the egg quality and excretal noxious gas in laying hens. One hundred forty four, 36 weeks old ISA brown commercial layer, were employed in a 28 d feeding trial with a 7 d adjustment period. Dietary treatments are 1) control(basal diet), 2) PB0.3(basal diet+0.3% probiotics), 2) PB0.6(basal diet+0.6% probiotics). For overall period, hen-day egg production, egg weight and egg shell breaking strength tended to increase (P>0.05) by dietary probiotic supplementation. Egg shell thickness was improved by supplementation of probiotics(linear effect, P$<$0.01). Diets PB0.3 and PB0.6 improved the yolk color compared to control diet(linear effect, P$<$0.02). As supplementation level of probiotics increased in the diets, egg yolk index tended to increase(linear effect, P$<$0.04). $NH_3$-N concentration in excreta fed PB0.6 diet was significantly (P$<$0.04) lower than either control or PB0.3 diet. In conclusion, supplementing probiotics to a Corn-SBM diet for laying hens increased egg shell thickness, yolk color and decreased egg yolk index, and decreased excretal $NH_3$-N concentration.

Epizootiological Investigation on Infectious Laryngotracheitis in Commercial Chicken Flocks (닭 전염성후두기관염의 역학적 조사)

  • In an effort to understand epizootiological aspects of infectious laryngotracheitis (ILT), a total of 56 chicken flocks in six farms comprised of 35 broiler breeder, 13 commercial layer and 6 layer breeder flocks. were investigated. The farms experienced ILT during the period of one year from June, 1982. In most farms the birds were vaccinated against ILT just before or after the disease outbreak. In two of the farms in which ILT broke out in winter, it was possible to contain the disease in only one or two fleets without transmitting it to the remaining 5 to 7 flocks in the farms by adopting strict isolation procedures for the affected flocks. In regarding inter- flock spreading speed, it took an average of 6 days for flocks rearing on floor and 11 days for those in cages. Among the flecks in rearing cages. transmission among laying flocks was much faster. taking an average of 8 days, compared to non-laying flocks of 17 days, suggesting spreading of the disease by means of egg trays or egg collection process. Peak mortality was observed between 5 and 10 days after from the time of appearance of first dead birds from the disease and the period of mortality, with an average of 18 days, was not influenced by rearing systems, breeds and age of birds. Mortalities in the affected flocks ranged from lo/e to 19.8%, with an average of 6.5 %, and was also not influenced by the above variables except significantly lower mortality in immature broiler breeder flocks (2.9%) compared to immature layer (11.8%) and mature broiler breeder flocks (6.9%). In one breeder farm in which all the birds were kept on floor and ILT broke out in summer, mortality in male birds in all seven flocks of 37 weeks of age or older was as high as twice of that in female birds in the same flocks. This trend was not observed in one 31 weeks old flock and was reversed in another 14 weeks old flock in the farm.

Effect of Feeding Green Tea and Chitosan on Production, Nutrient Utilization and Cholesterol Level in Serum or Egg Yolk of Laying Hens (키토산 및 녹차 첨가가 산란계의 생산성, 소화율 및 혈액과 계란의 콜레스테롤 함량에 미치는 영향)

  • The objective of this study was to investigate the effect of chitosan and green tea supplementation on laying performance and cholesterol concentrations of serum and egg yolk in laying hens. Total 360 laying hens were divided into four groups for feeding trials with three replication : control, T1 (0.15% chitosan), T2(0.15% green tea) and T3 (0.15% chitosan + 0.15% green tea) group. Feed intake was lower in control group (830g/week) than other treatment groups, but T2 of treatment group shows a tendency to decrease. The egg production and egg weight was significantly higher in T2 and T3 group than control. The cholesterol concentrations of serum with chitosan or green tea supplementation were significantly decreased after 8 week than starting trial, and especially those of T2 was lower than other treatment groups. The cholesterol concentrations of egg yolk were no effect of supplement with chitosan and green tea.

Exploiting the Maximum Productive Potential of Spent laying Hens with Different Metabolizable Energy and Protein levels after Induced Molting

  • This experiment was conducted to investigate the influence of different dietary ME and CP on post-molt performance of spent laying hens. Four hundred and thirty two, ISA brown after molt induction were fed 6 experimental diets containing 3 ME(2,750, 2,800, 2,850 kcal/kg) and 2 CP(15, 17%) levels in factorial design. The influence of ME and CP were measured on body weight, egg production, egg weight and feed intake throughout 24 weeks of production. Egg mass and FCR were calculated for the entire experimental period body weight remained less in hens receiving 2,800 kcal/kg. ME and showed the highest egg Production coupled with 15% CP. Feed intake decreased with the increasing level of ME and CP. As the results of this experiment, 2,800 kcal/kg ME can be used to maintain the low body weight and to obtain higher egg production with 15% CP in induced molting hens.

Effects of Heat Stress and Extra Salt Addition on Acid-Base Balance, Water Intake and Egg Quality in Layers (고온 스트레스와 소금의 첨가가 산란계의 산-염기 평형과 음수량 및 난질에 미치는 영향)

  • An experiment was conducted to investigate the effects of adding extra dietary salt on the blood acid-base balance, water intake and egg quality in heat stressed layers. Eighteen 44-wk-old brown commercial layers(Dekalb Warren) were randomly alloted to 0.25 and 0.75% dietary salt treatments, with nine replicates per treatment and one bird per replicate. After 3 d of preliminary period at 13~$16^{\circ}C$(normal temperature), layers were subjected to 3 d of collection period. Then the room temperature was raised to 33-$35^{\circ}C$f(hot temperature), and another 3 d of collodion period was followed. The experiment was designed as a $2\times2$ factorial and analyzed as suck The ANOVA test and comparison among treatment means were done at 5% probability levels. Results obtained were summarized as follows. L The heat stressed layers decreased feed intake, and increased water intake and excreta moisture content significantly. The addition of extradietary salt significantly increased excreta moisture content 2. The heat stressed layers showed significantly higher blood pH and lower $pCO_2$ values than the control bird However, the addition of extra salt did not change any acid-base variables. 3. The egg weight and shell quality decreased significantly, and haugh unit increased significantly by the heat stress. However, these values were not affected by the salt addition. In summary, the heat stressed layers displayed respiratory alkalosis and poor egg quality, as expected However, the addition of ex03 salt to the diet failed to alleviated the heat stress in this layer experiment.

Effects of Expanding Feed Processing Technologies on Egg Characteristic and Nutrient Digestibility in Laying Hens (Expanding 사료 가공 기술이 산란계의 계란 품질 및 영양소 소화율에 미치는 효과)

  • This study was conducted to investigate the effects of expanding feed processing technologies on the egg characteristics and nutrient digestibility in laying hens. A total of two hundred seventy laying hens were randomly allocated into three treatments with fifteen replications for six weeks. Dietary treatments include 1) MS(mash), 2) EC(expanded crumble) and 3) EP(expanded pellet). In the egg production, the EC and EP treatments were significantly higher than MS treatment(p<0.05). However, no significant difference was founded in egg weight(p>0.05). Egg shell breaking was increased in EC and EP treatments compared with MS treatment(p<0.05), however, egg shall thickness showed no significant difference(p>0.05). Egg production and egg shell breaking were significantly higher in EC and EP treatments than MS treatment(p<0.05), but egg weight and egg shell thickness were no significantly difference among treatment(p<0.05). Yolk color was increased in EC treatment compared with other treatments(p<0.05). Also, yolk index was significantly improved in EC and EP treatments compared with MS treatment(p<0.05). Haugh unit was increased in EC treatment compared with MS treatment(p<0.05). EC treatment had improved DM, Ca and P digestibility. In conclusion, Expanded crumble and pellet processing could improve the egg characteristic and nutrient digestibility in laying hens.
