Effects of experience-based learning program using singing insects (소리곤충을 이용한 체험학습프로그램의 학습효과)

  • This study examines how an experimental-based learning program using singing insects improves the academic achievement of elementary school children. Study subjects were a total of 123 elementary students at their $2^{nd}$ and $3^{rd}$ grade who voluntarily participated in an experience-based learning program organized by Seodaemun Museum of Natural History, Seoul. Students were given the same survey questionnaires before and after taking the learning program, and this procedure was repeated in 7 independent replication trials. Result from a paired t-test indicated that the learning program had a positive effect on academic performance, with students gaining significantly higher mean scores in the survey test after taking the program than before. This result suggests that the experience-based learning program using singing insects is effective at improving student's academic achievement. Our study provides a critical impetus for developing a variety of other experience-based learning programs using insects like ours, leading us to anticipate that these programs will be practiced more systematically and actively in the classroom in future.

The Effects of Activity-Based STEAM Education program on Middle School Students' Interest in Science Learning (활동 중심 STEAM 프로그램이 중학생들의 과학 학습 흥미도에 미치는 효과)

  • The purposes of this study were to develop the activity based STEAM education program and to investigate the effects of the developed program on students' interest in science learning. The program was applied to 7th grade science club. This study was planned to single group pre-post test design. Test tool was the questionnaire of interest on science learning. In the results of t-test, there was statistically significant difference on the pretest and posttest of interest in science learning. Also there was significant difference on attitude toward science, recognition and strategy on science learning that were subdomains of interest on science learning. The results indicated that activity-based STEAM education program was effective in improving students' interest in science learning. In future, studies should be conducted that examine the effect of STEAM program on creativity and problem-solving activity. Therefore studies on the effectiveness of activity-based STEAM education programs should be made continuously.

Effects of Different Types of Chatbots on EFL Learners' Speaking Competence and Learner Perception (서로 다른 챗봇 유형이 한국 EFL 학습자의 말하기능력 및 학습자인식에 미치는 영향)

  • This study explores effects of two types of chatbots - voice-based and text-based - on Korean EFL learners' speaking competence and learner perception. Participants were 80 freshmen students taking an English-speaking class at a university in Korea. They were divided into two experimental groups at random. During the sixteen-week experimental period, participants engaged in 10 chat sessions with the two different types of chatbots. To take a close examination of effects on the improvement of speaking competence, they took the TOEIC speaking test as pre- and post-tests. Structured questionnaire-based surveys were conducted before and after treatment to determine if there are changes in perception. Findings reveal two chatbots effectively contribute to improvement of speaking competence among EFL learners. Particularly, the voice-based chatbot was as effective as the text-based chatbot. An analysis of survey results indicates perception of chatbot-assisted language learning changed positively over time. In particular, most participants preferred voice-based chatbot over text-based chatbot. This study provides insight on the use of chatbots in EFL learning, suggesting that EFL teachers should integrate chatbot technology in their classrooms.

A Study on the Operation Effectiveness of Library and Information Science Course Using Blended Learning (블렌디드 러닝을 적용한 문헌정보학 전공 교과목 운영의 효과성 연구)

  • This study sought implications for further revitalizing student-centered classes by measuring and analyzing the effects of the operation of major courses applying blended learning for library and information sicence (LIS) students on learning immersion, result achievement, and learning satisfaction. The results are as follows: First, as a result of comparative analysis between the pre and post scores of learning immersion, result achievement, and academic satisfaction after operating the blended learning class, the average score of the post-survey was high. Second, among the factors of learning immersion, significant results were found in academic reasons, academic concentration, interest, and control. In particular, the effect of academic concentration and control was high. Third, among the factors of outcome achievement, significant results were found in achievement motivation, satisfaction, relationship utilization ability, and class attitude. The effect of satisfaction and relationship utilization ability was particularly high. Fourth, both general satisfaction and learning-related satisfaction were very effective in academic satisfaction factors. In sum, it was found that the operation of major courses applying blended learning was effective for LIS students.

  • Teaching and learning research is essential to prepare for the era of the 4th industrial revolution. We must strengthen the creative educational capabilities of prospective teachers by improving the curriculum and teaching-learning model of teacher training colleges. Future education should foster creative thinking based on communication and collaboration. In this study, we improved the future teaching and learning model and applied it to actual classes. In addition, we verified the effectiveness by conducting pre- and post-surveys on the capabilities of future creative teachers. The survey consists of common satisfaction questions and questions about future creative teacher capabilities. As a result of the analysis, we confirmed that the capacity of future creative teachers increased.

  • 프로그래밍 언어 수업은 학습자들 간의 학습 수준의 차이가 크게 나타나고 수업 내용의 연관성이 높은 특성을 가지고 있다. 이로 인해 다른 어떠한 수업보다 학습자들의 학습동기를 향상시켜 지속적으로 학습에 적극적으로 참여할 수 있는 외재적 동기 부여를 통한 학습효과 증진 방법이 필요하다. 본 연구에서는 프로그래밍 교육에서 성찰일지를 활용한 학습동기 증진 교수 학습 모델을 제시하고, 실제 수업에 적용 후 학습동기에 대한 사전 사후 설문을 실시하여 제시한 교수 학습 모델이 학습동기 증진에 효과 있었음을 조사 분석하였다.

A Case Study on Instruction Using Robot in Elementary Regular Classes (초등학교 정규교과에서 로봇활용수업 적용 사례 연구)

  • This study is to analyze the effects on using robots in elementary regular classes. The robots and PC-linked applications were developed considering the school subjects' academic goals and the learners' responses were carefully examined while applying the robots in the class. The image profile after the robot application shows positive feedbacks in most of the contents and some significant differences were found in contents such as 'theoretical-practical', 'uncooperative-cooperative'(p<.05). Moreover, the analysis on the learners' image drawings shows that more robot images are formed related to the concrete learning environment. The learners have answered in an interview to evaluate their understanding of Robot based instruction that both direct and indirect robot experience induce positive participations and provide authentic learning experience. During the robot based instruction, the learners cooperate with their group members and recognize the cooperation as a positive activity. It proves that the robot based instruction can lead to a possibility of new education paradigm.

Development of Flipped Learning-based Educational Model for Vocational Education and Training (직업교육훈련을 위한 플립러닝 기반 교육모델 개발)

  • The purpose of this study is to develop a flipped-learning based education model for vocational education and training. Based on previous studies, we have developed a training model that includes definitions of flipped-learning, major learning activities, and operational strategies in each occupation. In addition, delphi surveys were carried out to confirm the validity of the educational model for HRD and vocational education and training specialists. Finally, the flipped-learning model for vocational education and training consists of three stages: Pre-learning, Main-learning, and Post-learning. Pre-learning stage include Online lectures, Simple tasks, Main-learning stage include Active learning and Coaching-Debriefing lecture, Post-learning stage includes Individual reflection-Additional task performance activities. The educational model developed through this study was developed with the focus on improving the linkage and the performance of the goal of vocational education and training.

Effect of Flipped learning on the Learning Attitude, Self-esteem, Lesson Satisfaction for Nursing Students of the University (간호대학생의 플립러닝 학습이 학습태도, 자아존중감, 수업만족도에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study performed to confirm the effect of flipped learning on learning attitude, self-esteem, and lesson satisfaction for nursing students of the university. The research participants and data collection were conducted on 38 nursing students in A city from September 1 to December 30, 2021, and the research design is a one-group pretest-posttest design. Learning attitude, self-esteem, and lesson satisfaction were investigated, and flipped learning lectures were applied to the experimental group as experimental treatment. SPSS 27.0 version was used for statistical analysis. As a result, the learning attitude of nursing students showed a positive correlation with self-esteem and lesson satisfaction, and the flipped learning education method showed learning attitude (t=-4.01, p<.01) and self-esteem (t=-3.53, p<).001, lesson satisfaction (t=-4.20, p<).001) All were statistically significant.

The Development of Music Education Model based on e-learning (e-learning을 활용한 음악과 수업모형 개발)

  • 본 논문에서는 on-line을 통한 교육방법의 하나인 e-learning(Web Based Instruction)을 활용한 음악과 수업모형을 개발하여 교육적 활용 효과를 검증하였다. 웹 기반 교수학습 자료를 구축하고 각종 학습 자료를 탑재하여 수업에 활용하였으며, 교육 효과를 보다 정확히 알아보기 위해 수준별(상,중,하) 3개 그룹으로 나누어 e-learning 기법을 적용 사전평가 및 사후평가를 통하여 얻어진 결과를 통계 처리하여 검증하였다. 본 논문에서는 학습자의 능력과 필요에 따라 능동적인 학습이 이루어지도록 하였다. 개별학습, 반복학습 및 자기주도적 학습을 진행할 수 있도록 구성하였으며, 그 결과 구체적이고 실질적인 학습 효과를 얻을 수 있었다. e-learning 활용수업을 실시한 실험 집단 전체에서 off-line 수업을 실시한 통제집단보다 학습 성취도에 있어서 효과적인 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 상위, 중위 그룹의 학생들에게는 웹 기반 교수학습 활용수업이 학습효과에 있어서 큰 차이가 없었지만 하위 그룹의 학생들에게는 크게 효과적인 것으로 나타났다.
