  • The purpose of the current research is to reconstruct the 'structure of biographical processes' on the lives of the elderly couples residing in the rural area in terms of 'gender relations.' Autobiographical-narrative interviews with each of the six elderly couples were conducted. Interview data were analyzed through the eclectic application of $Sch\ddot{u}tze's$ autobiographical-narrative interview and Dausien's feministic biographical research methods. Research findings revealed that each biography of the elderly couples represents the 'structure of biographical process' that shapes 'trajectories.' Such 'trajectories' were found to characterize two dimensions of 'gender relations'. First, on the micro- and macro-levels of 'trajectories,' 'gender relations' were noticed. The 'trajectories' of the male elderly were found to be both in personal and familial contexts and in socio-structural context, while those of the female elderly were found to be mostly in personal and familial contexts. Second, on the micro-level of 'trajectories,' 'gender relations' were noticed. The male elderly were more or less different from one another, contingent on the phases of life. They turned out to take simple roles of performing 'outdoor duties' and to be passive in doing 'housework.' Contrary to the male elderly, the female counterparts proved to actively assume 'dual roles' in 'family affairs' and 'outdoor duties'. Such findings led to the observation of 'doing gender' in the biographies of the elderly and, furthermore, to capturing the fact that 'doing gender' is different, depending on the phases of life and sex. Finally, some implications for practice were drawn from the current findings with special reference to biography and gender relations.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine gender differences in the impact of exposure to peer delinquency among elementary school-age students and the mediating effects of aggression. The study utilized 458 cases (220 male students, 238 female students) of data from the 2015 Korea Welfare Panel Study (KoWePS) conducted by the Korea Institute for Health and Social Affairs (KIHASA). The theoretical frameworks used in this study included Bandura's social learning theory, Akers' social learning theory, and Sutherland's differential association theory. The findings were as follows. First, there was no statistically significant effect on peer group's delinquency experience overall, aggression, and delinquency experience by gender. Second, male students' delinquency experience of their peer group had a statistically significant effect on their delinquency, however, this was not true for female students. Third, in the case of male students, aggression was found to mediate the relationship between peer group delinquency experience and their own delinquency, but not for female students. From these findings, we suggest a practical and policy-driven intervention plan, focusing on reducing the contact frequency of delinquency experience and aggression, The purpose of this study was to examine gender differences in the impact of exposure to peer delinquency among elementary school-age students and the mediating effects of aggression. • In 2020, civilized society's overall lifestyle showed a distinct change from consumable analog media, such as paper, to digital media with the increased penetration of cloud computing, and from wired media to wireless media. Based on these social changes, this work examines whether the use of computer media in the field of landscape architecture is appropriately applied. This study will give directions for new computer media classes in landscape architectural education in the 4th Industrial Revolution era. Landscape architecture is a field that directly proposes the realization of a positive lifestyle and the creation of a living environment and is closely connected with social change. However, there is no clear evidence that landscape architectural education is making any visible change, while the digital infrastructure of the 4th Industrial Revolution, such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Big Data, autonomous vehicles, cloud networks, and the Internet of Things, is changing the contemporary society in terms of technology, culture, and economy among other aspects. Therefore, it is necessary to review the current state of the use of computer technology and media in landscape architectural education, and also to examine the alternative direction of the curriculum for the new digital era. First, the basis for discussion was made by studying the trends of computational design in modern landscape architecture. Next, the changes and current status of computer media classes in domestic and overseas landscape education were analyzed based on prior research and curriculum. As a result, the number and the types of computer media classes increased significantly between the study in 1994 and the current situation in 2020 in the foreign landscape department, whereas there were no obvious changes in the domestic landscape department. This shows that the domestic landscape education is passively coping with the changes in the digital era. Lastly, based on the discussions, this study examined alternatives to the new curriculum that landscape architecture department should pursue in a new degital world.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the perception of cyber community participants on reconciliation of divorced couple and find reasons for pros and cons concerning reconciliation after divorce. The data were collected through searching for website or Internet cafe related to 'reconciliation after divorce' on Internet. The contents of 7 cases for asking for advice on reuniting and opinions of cyber community participants on them were analyzed. Cyber community participants expressed their approval of divorced couple's reuniting for following reasons: 'strong motive for reunion', 'sexual relation with ex-partner', 'parental responsibility', 'regarding reconciliation as a better choice than remarriage', 'regarding as a good choice for child' etc. But cyber community members were opposed to divorced couple's reuniting for following reasons: 'doubt about real intention to reuniting', 'no self-reflection on previous marriage and ex-spouse', 'concern for recurrence of former marital conflict', 'reuniting only for child not for couple', 'no prior settlement of former marital conflict', 'no forgiveness and tolerance for ex-spouse', 'no reflection and change', 'no effort on ex-spouse's side' etc. Though these results were restrictive, this study identified issues surrounding reconciliation after divorce through asking and giving advices by anonymous members on cyberspace. These findings implied that we should take more interest in reconciliation as an realistic alternative marriage pattern after divorce and consider what is important to successful reuniting after divorce.

  • Physical resources are central to coping with economic hardships for people in low-income, yet life experiences such as resource loss and gain and their relationships with a sense of well-being received scarce attention. Thus this study investigated levels of loss and gain of physical resources, economic stability and well-being of 254 adults who participated in welfare-to-work programs; correlations and paths among these variables; and direct and indirect effects of economic stability by structural equation modeling. Major results were: first, the levels of resource loss and gain were below a moderate level and the level of gain was significantly higher than the loss level. Second, in the relationships with both economic stability and well-being, resource loss showed negative correlations, while resource gain showed significantly positive correlations. Third, the negative direct effect of resource loss either on the economic stability or on the well-being respectively was significant and the indirect effect on well-being through economic stability was also significant. Finally, the direct effect of resource gain on either economic stability or well-being was significant; and the indirect effect of resource gain on well-being was also significant. Thus in both models for resource loss and gain, the indirect effect of economic stability was significant, which supports partial mediation model. Based on these results, implications for social work practice and research were examined, particularly for enabling social work practice to utilize information regarding resource loss and gain, economic stability, and a sense of well-being that were embedded in the community life of people in low-income.
