This paper compares and contrasts the concept of nature and the theory of evolution held by leading synthetic biologists and transhumanists in the post-genomic era. Synthetic biology, which emerged in the early 2000s, aims to design biological systems that perform specific functions with the two key concepts of "rational design" and "directed evolution". However, synthetic biology has also raised serious concerns about the creation of man-made biological materials and the manipulation of the direction and speed of evolution. It is no wonder that transhumanists, who dream of creating new, enhanced human species, have welcomed the arrival of synthetic biology. How, then, can we deal with the nature reinvented by synthetic biology? By what means can one justify research that may affect the process of evolution? What intellectual resources do synthetic biology and transhumanism share in common? What influence would the new trend of commercialization of science and technology exert upon the development of synthetic biology? Addressing those questions, this paper argues that the moral authority of nature can be restored in this post-genomic era.

화장품 산업의 특징을 요약하면 국가의 문화의 척도를 가늠할 수 있는 산업분야로써 사회와 문화의 발달과 더불어 성장하는 산업이라고 할 수 있다. 기술적인 측면에서 보면 화장품 산업은 화학, 생물학, 생리학, 약학 등의 기초과학과 응용기술이 복합적으로 적응되는 분야로써 다품종, 소량생산의 전형적인 정밀화학공업의 한 분야이다. 따라서, 화장품 산업은 기술 집약적이고 고부가가치의 산업이다. 그 동안 약사법에 포함되어 있어서 화장품으로서의 법적 지원이 미흡하였으나, 화장품 법이 약사법으로부터 분리되어 새로운 제도 하에서 다시 한번 도약을 준비 중에 있다.

It is difficult to think of any behavioral process that is more intrinsically important to human beings than social attachment. Feeding, sleeping and locomotion are all necessary for survival, but humans are 'a social animal' and it is our social attachment that we live for. One of the early pioneers in this area, Harry Harlow, described the different behavioral processes that are involved in the formation of parent-infant, filial and pair(male-female) bonds. Each of these involves multi-sensory processing and complex motor responses. Over the past decades, studies in a range of vertebrates, including humans, have begun to address the neural basis of attachment at a molecular, cellular and systemic level. This review describes some of important insights from these works, involving three different areas：1) Neurobiological research of infant-parent, parent-infant attachment, 2) Animal studies regarding attachment, 3) Neurobehavioral studies of maltreatment/deprivation causing serious breakdown of attachment relationship in humans.

The purpose of this paper is both to analyze research trends and to predict industrial flows using the meta-data from the previous studies on data quality. There have been many attempts to analyze the research trends in various fields till lately. However, analysis of previous studies on data quality has produced poor results because of its vast scope and data. Therefore, in this paper, we used a text mining, social network analysis for time series network analysis to analyze the vast scope and data of data quality collected from a Web of Science index database of papers published in the international data quality-field journals for 10 years. The analysis results are as follows: Decreases in Mathematical & Computational Biology, Chemistry, Health Care Sciences & Services, Biochemistry & Molecular Biology, Biochemistry & Molecular Biology, and Medical Information Science. Increases, on the contrary, in Environmental Sciences, Water Resources, Geology, and Instruments & Instrumentation. In addition, the social network analysis results show that the subjects which have the high centrality are analysis, algorithm, and network, and also, image, model, sensor, and optimization are increasing subjects in the data quality field. Furthermore, the industrial connection analysis result on data quality shows that there is high correlation between technique, industry, health, infrastructure, and customer service. And it predicted that the Environmental Sciences, Biotechnology, and Health Industry will be continuously developed. This paper will be useful for people, not only who are in the data quality industry field, but also the researchers who analyze research patterns and find out the industry connection on data quality.

In dynamic systems, such as social and economic systems, complex interactions emerge among its members. In that case, their behaviors become adaptive according to Changing environment. In many cases, an individual's behaviors can be modeled by a stimulus-response system in a dynamic environment. In this paper, we use the Iterated Prisoner's Dilemma (IPD) game, which is simple yet capable of dealing with complex problems, to model the dynamic systems. We propose strategic coalition consisting of many agents and simulate their emergence in a co-evolutionary learning environment. Also we introduce the concept of confidence for agents in a coalition and show how such confidences help to improve the generalization ability of the whole coalition. Experimental results are presented to demonstrate that co-evolutionary learning with coalitions and confidence allows better performing strategies that generalize well.

Doris Lessing, who considers science and technology as instruments of capitalism, deals with the theme of 'biological evolution' in The Sirian Experiments, the third book in the Canopus in Argos: Archives series. One of her themes that repeats throughout is that of 'spiritual evolution,' and in The Four-Gated City she even used 'biological evolution' as its metaphor. This paper analyzes The Sirian Experiments using scientific knowledge such as the concept of 'biological evolution' from Charles Darwin's evolution theory and Edward O. Wilson's sociobiology. Lessing concludes that while 'biological evolution' not accompanied with 'spiritual evolution' puts humans in existential problems and mental breakdown, the one in equilibrium with the other can bring social and political revolution. Lessing's concept of 'spiritual evolution' is basically a product of her holistic view and her own philosophical view that human evolution is a necessary process following the Universal Order, which shows that she is influenced by Sufism. The basic tenet in Sufi philosophy is to achieve equilibrium between the rational and non-rational modes of consciousness. Lessing incorporates her rational and irrational ideas into The Sirian Experiments to make a field for confluence where the biological, the sociological, and the spiritual thinking converge.

chaos이론은 현재 사회과학과 자연과학의 많은 분야에 있어서 연구 수단 또는 연구 대상으로서의 폭발적인 인기를 누리고 있다. 열 . 유체역학, 동력학, 구조역학, 화학(화학 분야에 있어서의 chaos개념은 Prigogine(1978년Nobel상 수상자)과 Stengers의 저서에 잘 기술되어 있음), 플라즈마 물리학, 전자공학, 전기공학 등 우리들에게 친숙한 학문은 말할 것 없고, 의학, 생태학, 생물학, 인구학, 경제학, 회계학 등에서도 종래의 것과는 완전히 다른 시각에서 현상을 분석하고 예측하 려는 노력을 하고 있다. 그리고 최근에는 computer graphics 에서도 간단한 수식 모델로 fractal set를 형성시켜, 각종 나무, 꽃, 파도, 구름등 자연의 산물들을 성공적으로 묘사하고 있다. Gleick는 chaos이론에 의한 각 분야에 있어서의 새로운 현상을 Newton-Einstein 이후의 또 다른 과학 혁명이라 부르고 있다. 그리고, 지금까지의 서양 학문이 줄곧 세부화의 길을 달려 왔으나 chaos에 의해 그 과정이 역으로 될 것이라는 인식이 일고 있다. 이는 chaos의 질서의 법칙이 보편타당성(universality)의 일면을 갖고 있다는데 기인되며, 종합화를 지향하는 동양의 제반 학 문과 그 성격상 일맥상통한 점이 있어, chaos학이 동양인의 기호 학문이 되리라 믿는다.
