  • Effects of the zeolite particle size on the soil chemical properties and on rice growth was investigated on the pot with the loamy sand (Sadu series) and silty clay loam(Paju series) soils. All the zeolite treatments brought the increase of unhulled grain yield on the both loamy sand and silty clay loam soils. Unhulled grain yield increased with increasing the amount of zeolite applied and with decreasing the amount of particle size of zeolite applied on both soils. Unhulled grain yield increased significantly by 11.1% (22.79g/head) with 2ton/10a of smaller than $106{\mu}m$ size zeolite on the loamy sand soil and on the silty clay loam soil, yield increased by 9.3% (24.98g/head) with 1.5ton/10a of smaller than $106{\mu}m$ size zeolite. CEC, pH and contents of exchangeable cations of the soil after experiment were raised by increasing the amount of zeolite and also by decreasing the particle size of zeolite at both soil. At the heading stage, the zeolite treatments improved the growth of rice plant compared to control. The nutrient contents(T-N, Ca, Mg, K, Na), except phosphorus, in the rice plant grown on the zeolite treated soils were higher than control plot.

  • This experiment was conducted to investigate the effects of soil texture on agronomic characteristics and tuber yield in chinese yam (Dioscorea opposita Thunb). Tuber length and weight was greater and tuber shape was much better in sandy loam and loam soil than in sandy or clay loam soil. In loam and sandy loam soil, fresh tuber yield was increased by $21{\sim}27%$ in short-tuber type and 6% in long-tuber type, and large tubers yield (above 260g) was increased by $45{\sim}55%$ in short-tuber type and $20{\sim}22%$ in long-tuber type compared to those in sandy soil. There was no differences in large tuber yield at the 5% level of significance between loam and sandy loam soil. Malformation of tuber with bifurcation was extremely increased in sandy soil, and tuber diameter of long-tuber type was decreased in clay loam soil compared to those of the other soil texture.

  • The rootability of hardwood cutting of mulberry (Morus alba L.) depending upon the kinds of cutting beds, soil of cutting beds, effect of growth regulator (Rootone-F), pretreatments of cutting scion, parts of branches were investigated, The results were as follows ; 1. Rootability was the highest in cutting after callus formed on sand bed, whereas null in the treatment of rice seedling hot bed. 2. Optimum cutting season was around March 26, showed 100% rootability in all treatments except wooden box filled with sand. 3. The order of rootability related with cutting part of branch was upper$^{\circ}C$), and cutting after formation of callus increased rootability, whereas cuttings left in open air for 5 days showed null rootability.

  • The purpose of this study was to provide basic data for the cultivation of Allium victorialis var. platyphyllum in the area covered with forest vegetation. The populations of A. victorialis var. platyphyllum in Ulleungdo were naturally growing in the communities of Fagus japonica var. multinervis, Acer okamotoanum, Pinus parviflora, Tsuga sieboldii, Pinus densiflora, Pinus thunbergii, Tilia amurensis, and Alnus maximowiczii. On average, the study area of A. victorialis var. platyphyllum population was located in the places of 563 m above sea level, and in the slope area of $27.8^{\circ}$. Soil texture of its inhabitation site mainly consisted of sandy soil, sandy loam, loamy sand, and loam. The depth of the organic layer was 6 cm on average, soil pH 5.4, available phosphate content 18.5 ppm, and cation exchange capacity $18.6cmol_c/kg$. The correlation between the site factors and soil factors by CCA analysis showed that the community of beech tree indicated positive correlation with carbon, nitrogen, sand content, and cation exchange capacity.

  • This study was carried out to evaluate high resolution satellite imagery of IKONOS for classifying the land cover, especially forest type. The IKONOS imagery of 11km$\times$11km size was taken on April 24, 2000 in Bong-pyoung Myun Pyungchang-Gun, Kangwon Province. Land cover classes were water, coniferous evergreen, Larix leptolepis, broad-leaved tree, bare land, farm land, grassland, sandy soil and asphalted area. Supervised classification method with algorithm of maximum likelihood was applied for classification. The terrestrial survey was also carried out to collect the reference data in this area. The accuracy of the classification was analyzed with the items of overall accuracy, producer's accuracy, user's accuracy and k for test area through the error matrix. In the accuracy analysis of the test area, overall accuracy was 94.3%, producer's accuracy was 77.0-99.9%, user's accuracy was 71.9-100% and k and 0.93. Classes of bare land, sandy soil and farm land were less clear than other classes, whereas classification result of IKONOS in forest area showed higher performance than that of other resolution(5-30m) satellite data.

  • A series of soil bin experiments was carried out on land to evaluate the soil physical properties whether they are pertinent to soil-wheel system and to investigate if true model theory u applicable to powered rigid wheel-soil system. Four different sized wheels having diameter of 45, 60, 75 and 90 em were wed for the experiment. The following conclusion was derived from the study. (1) True model theory can be sufficiently utilized to study the wheel traction and linkage on lands. (2) For both dry and wet sands, Cone Index(CI) and soil shear parameters (c, ${\phi}$) with bulk density (${\gamma}$) were found to be good measures of soil physical properties which are pertinent to predict the performance of the powered rigid wheel-soil system.

  • The effect of spatial factors on subjective responses to heavy-weight floor impact noise was investigated. Heavy-weight impact noises were generated and recorded in several apartments and a testing building using impact ball and binaural microphone to measure IACC of the noises. Just noticeable differences (JNDs) of IACC and SPL of heavy-weight impact noise were also investigated. Auditory experiments were conducted using method of limit. It was found that the JNDs of IACC and SPL were 0.12 and 1.5dB, respectively. Contribution of IACC and SPL to annoyance of heavy-weight floor impact noise is being further investigated.

  • A total of 18 lower urinary tract disease(LUTD) cats were examined by radiographical finding. It is difficult of descend to particular on struvite crystal intraurinary bladder by the usual radiographical technique. However, we have lots of informations by imaging processing method on standing-up position radiograph. This method be helpful from now on LUTD research work.
