Understanding 《Jiuzhang suanshu 九章算術》 through 《Kujang sulhae 九章術解》 -Focusing on the Meaning of the Terms and Phrases in the First Half of Chapter One pangjeon 方田章, and Paying Attention to the Development of Concepts- (《구장술해》를 통한 《구장산술》의 이해 -방전장(方田章) 전반부의 용어와 어구의 의미를 중심으로 개념의 발달 과정에 주의하여-)

  • We discuss several issues relating to the meaning of the terms and phrases in the first half of Chapter One fang tian 方田章 of ${\ll}$Jiuzhang suanshu九章算術${\gg}$. I understood those issues more clearly in the course of the translation of ${\ll}$Kujang sulhae 九章術解${\gg}$. Those are '今有' in the beginning of each problem, '積' and '冪' in the method of square field 方田術, '齊' in the method of reduction to a common denominator 齊同術, '經' and '有分者通之重有分者同而通之' in the method of dividing fraction 經分術, '實如法而一' in the calculation using the rods, '兩邪' in the method of trapezium field with a perpendicular side 邪田術. We may find out the value of ${\ll}$Kujang sulhae 九章術解${\gg}$ through our discussion.

The Effects of Core Fundamental Nursing Program on Core Fundamental Nursing Skills Competency, Clinical Competency and Problem Solving Process (핵심기본간호술 교육프로그램이 핵심기본간호술 수행능력, 임상수행능력 및 문제해결과정에 미치는 효과)

  • This study was pre-experimental research designed to compare the differences between pre-and post the effect of core fundamental education program of senior nursing student′s core fundamental nursing skills, clinical competency and problem solving process for one semester. Core fundamental education program which consists of three steps, 12 session. The subjects of this study were 192 graduates of one nursing college and surveyed from March 20 to June 23, 2017. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, the paired t-test, t-test, ANOVA by SAS for Windows(ver. 9.8) and AMOS(ver. 20.0) As a result, pre-post recognition level of core fundamental education program was nursing skills competency pre $(3.42{\pm}.42)$ and post $3.88({\pm}.61)$, clinical competency was pre $3.74({\pm}.47)$ and post $3.98({\pm}.67)$. The core fundamental nursing skills(p=.017), clinical competency(p=.041) increased significantly after education program. Core fundamental nursing skills, clinical competency and problem solving process was significantly different according to male group(p=.003/p=.013/p=.005), high satisfaction group in nursing major(p=<.000/p=.009/p=<.000), confidence improvement group(p=.044/p=.047/p=.004) at the core skill contest. In conclusion, this study showed that the core fundamental nursing education program of senior nursing students had a positive effect on core fundamental nursing skills and clinical competency.

Surgical Planning in Deformity Correction Osteotomies using Forward Kinematics and Inverse Kinematics (정기구학 및 역기구학을이용한하지 교정절골술 계획 생성)

  • Patients with cerebral palsy or arthritis have deformities in lower limb which cause unstable gait or posture and pains. Surgeons perform a deformity correction osteotomy with surgical plan. But sometimes they find the unexpected angular or rotational deformation after surgery. The problems are that there is no method to predict the result of a surgical plan and also there are so many factors to must consider in surgical planning step such as clinical measurements, rotation angle, wedge angle, morphology of lower limb, etc. This paper presents new methods for planning the deformity correction osteotomy efficiently. There are two approaches based on the 3D mesh model and the accurate assessment of the patient's lower limb. One is the manual pre-simulation of surgery using forward kinematics. And the other is the automatic surgical planning using inverse kinematics and nonlinear optimization. Using these methods, we can predict and verify the results of various surgical treatments and also we can find a more effective surgical plan easily compared to conventional methods.

Study on Assessment Indicators for the Development of Agricultural Technology Development (신기술개발을 위한 사전평가지표 개발)

  • The study demonstrated the pre-feasibility evaluation of the new agricultual technology R&D project and the ways to improve it. The study created new criteria for pre-feasibility evaluation based on the results acquired from the examination and analysis of pre-feasibility evaluation systems and criteria of various institutions at home and abroad in order to understand the current state of the evaluation method conducted by the Rural Development Administration and to seek ways for its improvement. The new criteria include indices for technicity, marketability, and feasibility. Based on these, questionnaires were prepared and the answers on them were statistically analyzed to set weights between indices. It was found that feasibility appeared the highest, in particular, feasibilities related to budget appropriateness, novelty, possibility of demand for the technology, and potential of commercialization appeared high. Referring to this conclusion, a simple operation process of pre-feasibility evaluation was introduced in the study.

신기술 발전 추세에 부응한 무기체계 연구개발 절차 개선방안

  • 우리 군도 신기술 발전 추세에 부응하여 연구개발단계 중에서 탐색개발 단곌ㄹ 통합하여 불요불급한 절차를 단축하고, 핵심기술 연구 확대 및 사전계획성능개량 의무화, 연구개발 기간을 3년 이내로 한정하는 등 체계개발을 위한 제반 여건과 방식을 개선해야 한다. 또한 DFSS의 도입 및 시험평가 제도 개선을 통한 실시간 연구관리체계를 구축하여 사업주관부서의 연구개발 통제력을 강화하고, 연구개발 예산편성 방법을 개선하여 신기술 분야 핵심기술 연구를 활성화시켜야 할 것이다.

Comparisons of Nursing Skills, Self-Directed Learning Ability, and Problem Solving Competency, and Satisfaction by Learner-led vs. Faculty-led Fundamental Nursing Practice (학습자 주도와 교수자 주도 기본간호학실습에 따른 술기수행능력과 자기주도 학습능력, 문제해결능력, 실습만족도 비교)

  • This study was done to compare the effects of learner-led and faculty-led fundamental nursing practice on skill performance, self-directed learning, problem-solving competency, and satisfaction. The learner-led practice was consisted of pre-class open lab and peer supervision. The faculty-led practice was consisted of faculty supervision for a student individually without pre-class open lab. The study was a pre-posttest, non-synchronized, quasi-experimental design between two groups. Data from 134 nursing students in either faculty-led (n=54) or learner-led fundamental nursing practice group (n=80) was collected using a checklist and self-reported questionnaire. Nursing skill performance score and class satisfaction of the learner-led group were significantly higher than those of the faculty-led group. This study showed that learner-led fundamental nursing practice consisting of pre-class open lab and peer supervision was an efficient practice method to improve students' skill performance and satisfaction maintaining their self-directed learning ability and problem-solving competency.

Perceptions of Caregivers and Medical Staff toward DNR and AD (Do Not Resuscitate (DNR)와 Advance Directives (AD)에 대한 환자 보호자와 의료인의 인식)

  • Purpose: This study is aimed to investigate perceptions of caregivers and medical staff toward do not resuscitate (DNR) and advance directives (AD). Methods: Participants were 141 caregivers and 272 medical staff members from five general hospitals. A questionnaire used for the study consisted of 20 items: 14 about DNR perceptions, three about AD, one each for age, gender and employment. Results: Both medical staff and caregivers strongly recognized the need for DNR and AD, and the level of recognition was higher with medical staff than caregivers (DNR ${\chi}^2=44.56$, P=0.001; AD ${\chi}^2=16.23$, P=0.001). The main reason for the recognition was to alleviate sufferings of patients in the terminal phase. In most cases, DNR and AD were filled out when patients with terminal conditions were admitted, and patients made the decisions by consulting with their guardians. Medical staff better recognized the need and for growing demand for guidelines for the DNR and AD decision making process than caregivers (${\chi}^2=7.41$, P=0.0025). Conclusion: This study showed that patients highly rely on their caregivers when making decisions for DNR and AD. Thus, it is important that patients and caregivers are provided with objective information about the decisions. Since participants' strong support for DNR and AD was mainly aimed at alleviating patients' suffering, further study is needed in the association with hospice care. Medical staff also needs to understand the different views held by caregivers and fully consider the disparity when informing patients/caregivers to make the DNR and AD decisions.

Difference of Anxiety of Parents: before & after the VCUG (배뇨요도방광조영술 검사 전후 부모의 불안감에 대한 비교)

  • Purpose : The voiding cystourethrogram (VCUG) is the investigation of choice in detecting the vesicoureteral reflux in urinary tract infections in children. As it is a potentially distressing and invasive test, most of the parents are so concerned about the child's stress. In this study, we compared the difference of the state of anxiety of parents before and after the VCUG. Methods : We divided 68 parents whose children underwent VCUG into 2 groups; who have given an explanation about VCUG in detail using pictures (group 1) Vs. who have given an oral explanation only (group 2). All the parents submitted the same questionnaire 2 times before and after the VCUG, which consisted of State-Trait-Anxiety-Inventory X-I (STAI-X-I) and visual analog scale (VAS) on the perception of worry, anxiety, confusion and pain. Results : Before VCUG, the perception of pain was higher in group 1 (P<0.05). After VCUG, the anxiety and confusion were significantly higher in group 2 than group 1 (P<0.05). In group 1, STAI-X-I scores, the perception of worry and anxiety were significantly decreased after the VCUG (P<0.05). In group 2, the confusion and pain were increased after VCUG (P<0.05). Conclusion : It showed that doctor's explanation on the procedure in advance may raise the perception of pain and the possibility of refusal by parents. But the STAI-X-I, worry, anxiety after VCUG were significantly decreased in group 1, while the confusion and pain were increased in group 2. Therefore we suggest that prior and sufficient explanation about invasive procedure like VCUG can be helpful in ameliorating the anxiety of the parents.
