According to longer and longer span, dynamic instability of stay cable should be prevented. Dynamic instability occurs mainly symmetric 1st mode and antisymmetric 1st mode in stay cable. Especially symmetric 1st mode has a lot of influence on sag. Therefore fundamental frequency of stay cable is different from that of taut sting. Irvine, Triantafyllou, Ahn etc. analyzed dynamic behavior of taut cable with sag through analytical technical and their researches give important results for large bounds of Irvine parameter. But each research shows mutually different values out of characteristic (cross-over or mode-coupled) point and each solution of frequency equations of all researchers can be very difficultly found because of their very high non-linearity. Presented study focuses on fundamental frequency of stay cable. Generalized mechanical energy with symmetric 1st mode vibration shape satisfied boundary conditions is evolved by Rayleigh-Ritz method. It is possible to give linear analytic solution within characteristic point. Error by this approach shows only below 3% at characteristic point against existing researches. And taut cable don't exceed characteristic point. I.e. high accuracy, easy solving techniques, and a little bit limitations. Therefore presented study can be announced that it is good study ergonomically.

Stay cable is easily exposed to vibration induced rainy wind effects. There are some problems for not only unexpected vibration but also well-known vibration. An outbreak of displacement by the said effects brings damages such as over-tension of cables and barriers, fatigue of anchorages and dampers, and additional shear force variation of stiffening girders. This study suggests analytic methodology for dynamic tension variation of cables and shear force variation of stiffening girders. Additionally this study announces with dynamic problems for cable stayed bridge briefly. To realize this subject, we divide restoring force into chord component and normal component and then make up the differential equations which can satisfy physical phenomenon for each component. Finally we apply adequate functions such as sinusoidal and parabola in order to reduce these differential equations. Therefore we can meet with good results through a series of above process. As a remarkable result, CIP recommendations (2002) give inadequate solution with over 10% error. However it gives very good solution if parts of our study are reflected at the said recommendations. The fact means that CIP recommendations (2002) well-known as international standard of stay cables are not even concern about this subject yet. For verification of this study, F.E. analysis using E.C.C. with external forces was fulfilled, and the accuracy and conciseness of this study were shown.

This study presents the aerodynamic admittance function of bridge girder under turbulent flow generated from wind velocity spectrum measured at bridge site. Three dimensional buffeting analysis of concrete cable-stayed bridge were performed considering aerodynamic admittance functions obtained from four different methods. It is revealed from the analysis that vertical buffeting responses considering proper aerodynamic admittance functions were just half of that neglecting aerodynamic admittance function. Grid turbulence was found to relatively lower the aerodynamic admittance function at low frequency range, and to underestimate the buffeting wind forces. It is recommended to use the aerodynamic admittance function evaluated from flutter derivatives or measured at active turbulence in order to properly predict the buffeting responses of bridges.

An analysis method for the time-dependent nonlinear analysis of segmentally erected planar prestressed concrete cable-stayed bridges was described. To account for the time-dependent effects, load history, creep, shrinkage. aging of concrete and relaxation of prestress were considered. Changes in boundary conditions and loads, installing and removing frame elements, stressing, restressing and removing cables and prestressing tendons were incorporated for modeling segmental erection operations. One typical example on segmentally erected prestressed concrete cable-stayed bridge was presented to illustrate the analysis method. Results of this example show that it is important to follow the development of stresses and deformations at all stages of construction to predict the true response of the bridge through its various load history.

This paper was mainly concentrated On the structural analysis of the cable-stayed bridges through the linear and nonlinear analysis method. And also this compares and analyses the characteristics of the two typical system, the radiating and harp arrangement. As a result, The radiating configuration is stiffer than the harp configuration in many respects Besides, the difference between the linear and nonlinear analysis method is proportional to the sag. But as the cable of the cable-stayed bridges is tauter, the difference is lesser.

This paper presents the results of the numerical analysis on the behavior of cable-stayed bridge considering geometric nonlinearity of cables. Finite element method is used and geometric nonlinearities are considered on the analysis of cable-stayed bridge. The governing equilibrium equations are derived by the principle of virtual work, and modified Newton-Raphson method and Newmark-${\beta}$ method are employed in response calculations. The validity of this study is demonstrated by comparing the examples with analytical results by other method and testing results.

Many civil and infrastructures continue to be used despite aging and the associated potential for damage accumulation. Therefore, the ability to monitor the health of these systems is becoming increasingly important. The purpose of this paper is to propose a real-time health monitoring system of cable-stayed bridge, based-on non-destructive measurement. And also this paper focuses on the safety assessment for bridge from health monitoring system to accomplish this safety assesment. Using the proposed health monitoring system, it helps bridge maintenance and reduces the economic cost of a life-cycle costs. Also it give important data to develop the design and analysis method for cable-stayed bridges.

Estimate method of cable tension forces can be classified into direct method and indirect method. Direct method is not accuracy and it has many restrictions. Therefore, in generally Indirect method, vibration method using natural frequency, has been applied to estimate the tension forces. In this study, cable tensions of recently constructed cable-stayed bridge are measured using string vibration method and this result comparing with result of multiple mode method. To put it brief, the error of string vibration method is not exceeding 2% under 7th mode. Specially third and 4th mode error is not exceeding 1%. safety.

This paper presents the extraction of natural frequencies and mode shapes of a cable-stayed bridge using data acquired from GNSS. The response signals of 6 GNSS measuring points installed at the Seohae cable-stayed bridge are used for analysis of dynamic characteristics. Using normalization process and a third order Butterworth filter for the measured signals, the related pass band's signals have been isolated. Then, the acceleration data by double differentiation for these signals are obtained. Total five natural frequencies have been extracted by the fast Fourier transform and compared to the results of different studies. For the acceleration obtained from GNSS signals, the mode shapes of the bridge have been successfully extracted by TDD technique.
