  • Effect of damage and loss cost for downtime is huge, if physical devices such as turbines, pipe, and storage tanks are in the abnormal state originated from not only aging, but also cyber attacks on the control and monitoring system like PLC (Programmable Logic Controller). To improve availability and dependability of the physical devices, we design and implement an indirect health monitoring system which sense temperature, acceleration, current, etc. indirectly, and put sensor data into Influx DB in real-time. Then, the actual performance of detecting abnormal state is shown using the indirect health monitoring system. Analyzing data are acquired using the real-time indirect health monitoring system, abnormal state and security threats can be double-monitored and lower maintenance cost utilizing prognostics and health management.

  • With the development of ICT and network, security management of IT infrastructure that has grown in size is becoming very difficult. Many companies and public institutions are having difficulty managing system and network security. In addition, as the complexity of hardware and software grows, it is becoming almost impossible for a person to manage all security. Therefore, AI is essential for network security management. However, since it is very dangerous to operate an attack model in a real network environment, cybersecurity emulation research was conducted through reinforcement learning by implementing a real-life network environment. To this end, this study applied reinforcement learning to the network environment, and as the learning progressed, the agent accurately identified the vulnerability of the network. When a network vulnerability is detected through AI, automated customized response becomes possible.

  • This society faces problems from unequal access to quality education which eventually lead to unequal distribution on wealth. Specifically, those youths with disabilities have a higher risk of living in poverty and becoming marginalized. First established in 2009, the Dodream program has addressed the issue of poverty fixation by establishing long-term supports for households of youths or adults with disabilities through case management. This study analyzes the effectiveness of Dodream program for youths with or youths whose parents are with disabilities on low-income households. The results of the study indicate that the Dodream program leads to improvements in self-concepts and career consciousness among youth. The program was particularly effective in improving the career preparedness of those who were involved. By establishing connections and collaborating with regional case management base institutions and cooperation centers, the program secured various social support resources. Finally the study presents plans on vitalizing the youth support by thoroughly investigating the cases of each study and establishing the program as long-term Human Capital Investment Model.

  • Most national critical key infrastructure, such like electricity, nuclear power plant, and petroleum is run on SCADA (Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition) system as the closed network type. These systems have treated the open protocols like TCP/IP, and the commercial operating system, which due to gradually increasing dependence on IT(Information Technology) is a trend. Recently, concerns have been raised about the possibility of these facilities being attacked by cyber terrorists, hacking, or viruses. In this paper, the method to minimize threats and vulnerabilities is proposed, with the virtual honeynet system architecture and the attack detection algorithm, which can detect the unknown attack patterns of Zero-Day Attack are reviewed.

  • Today, information security (INFOSEC) as a discipline is gaining more and more importance according to the emergence and extension of the cyberspace. Originated from Joint Doctrine for Information Operation (Joint Pub 3-13) by the U.S. Department of Defense, 'information assurance (IA)' is the concept widely used in the relevant field. Grown from the practice of information security, it encompasses broader and more proactive protection that includes countermeasures and repair, security management throughout an information system (IS)'s life-cycle, and trustworthiness of an IS in the process of risk analysis. In Korea, many industry professionals tend to misunderstand IA, remaining unaware of the conceptual differences between IA and INFOSEC. On this account, the current study attempted to provide a combined definition of IA by reviewing relevant literature. This study showed the validity of the wordings used in the proposed definition phrase by phrase.

  • In the present study, adaptability of cyber-physical system (CPS) for risk management of $CO_2$ storage site is examined and the subagging regression (SBR) method is proposed as a key component of the cyber-twin to estimate the risk due to potential $CO_2$ leakage. For these purposes, $CO_2$ concentration data monitored from a controlled $CO_2$ release field experiment is employed to validate the potentialities of the SBR method. From the validation study, it is found that the SBR method has robust estimation capability by showing minimal influence from anomalous measurements, and makes stable and sound predictions for the forthcoming $CO_2$ concentration trend. In addition, the method is found to be well suited as a tool of operational risk assessment based on real-time monitoring data due to the computational efficiency. The overall results suggest that the SBR method has potential to be an important component comprising the cyber twin of CPS for risk management of $CO_2$ storage site.

  • As the IT environment becomes more sophisticated, various threats and their associated serious risks are increasing. Threats such as DDoS attacks, malware, worms, and APT attacks can be a very serious risk to enterprises and must be efficiently managed in a timely manner. Therefore, the government has designated the important system as the main information communication infrastructure in consideration of the impact on the national security and the economic society according to the 'Information and Communication Infrastructure Protection Act', which, in particular, protects the main information communication infrastructure from cyber infringement. In addition, it conducts management supervision such as analysis and evaluation of vulnerability, establishment of protection measures, implementation of protection measures, and distribution of technology guides. Even now, security consulting is proceeding on the basis of 'Guidance for Evaluation of Technical Vulnerability Analysis of Major IT Infrastructure Facilities'. There are neglected inspection items in the applied items, and the vulnerability of APT attack, malicious code, and risk are present issues that are neglected. In order to eliminate the actual security risk, the security manager has arranged the inspection and ordered the special company. In other words, it is difficult to check against current hacking or vulnerability through current system vulnerability checking method. In this paper, we propose an efficient method for extracting diagnostic data regarding the necessity of upgrading system vulnerability check, a check item that does not reflect recent trends, a technical check case for latest intrusion technique, a related study on security threats and requirements. Based on this, we investigate the security vulnerability management system and vulnerability list of domestic and foreign countries, propose effective security vulnerability management system, and propose further study to improve overseas vulnerability diagnosis items so that they can be related to domestic vulnerability items.

  • In the past, security on control system was guaranteed by isolation of control system networks from external networks. However as devices of the control systems became more various and interaction between the devices became necessary, effective management system for such network emerged and this triggered connection between control system networks and external system networks. This made management of control system easier but also made control system exposed to various cyber attack threats, Therefore researches on appending security measures on each protocols are in progress. This paper focused on DNP(distributed network protocol)3 protocol which is used for communication between control center and substations. It describes characteristics of DNP3 protocol and research on adding security elements to the protocol. It also analyzed known vulnerabilities of DNP3 protocol and proposed data mining methodology for detecting such vulnerabilities.
