A Study of the Home Appliance Control Characteristics of the Elderly (고령자의 생활가전제품 조작행동 특성에 관한 연구)

  • Home appliance proposes the experience of new lifestyle to consumers, together with digital technology-applied highly advanced functions, beyond its natural quality like the basic function of reducing the burden of housework. However, under the current circumstances that populations are rapidly aging, the number of elderly consumers, who feel it inconvenient to smoothly use even the basic function of home appliance, is increasing in proportion to populations. Therefore, the necessity for developing home appliance with improved usability in consideration of the elderly is rising up. This study analyzed the elderly's pattern of using home appliance and illustrated the procedure of their using home appliance, putting its focus on the home appliance that the elderly highly depend on in keeping their daily life and that they feel it inconvenient to control. And based on the illustrated procedure, this paper substituted various kinds of home appliance that were not surveyed by this study and found out 4 user behavioral models for home appliance. Same as the concept of universal design, product designs, which are convenient to use by the elderly whose physical functions are reduced, are expected acceptable to various user classes. The found user behavioral models purport to give references to design process for product planning and design solutions.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the problems of the rapidly increasing voice interface and to find out what results will be obtained when the new gesture interaction is applied to the product, and to suggest the improvement method for a better user experience. Through the literature review, I have conducted a theoretical review on the changes in the product interface used in the product and the difference between them, and then conducted in-depth interviews on the 20-30 users who used voice recognition as a product trigger. As a result, it was concluded that the decline in the reliability of accuracy leads to a decrease in the preference of voice recognition interactions and an needs of appropriate interface for the functional aspect of non-relavancy in physical distance as a product trigger. This study is meaningful in that it has found a problem with the study of the product trigger interface and suggested improvement measures, and hope to be helpful in follow-up study.

  • The demands of nursing home for the dementia are rapidly increasing. However, there are no enough nursing homes and design guidelines for it. This study was intended to examine the needs of the staff for the nursing home design and suggest the design guidelines of the Korean nursing home for the dementia. The subjects were 15 nurses and 18 care givers who worked in D hospital for the elderly with dementia in Busan. Data were collected by the self-administered questionnaire. The findings were as follows; First, the most important design element in nursing home for the dementia which the staff mentioned was 'healing environment' and then 'function' and 'maintenance' Second, the care-givers were more satisfied with their facility design than the nurses. Third, the staff pointed out that 'the relation between individual room and nursing station', namely, short distance between them, and 'enough wandering space' had to be considered at first in design process of nursing home with dementia. Also, the comfort and intimate interior mood, fresh air and sunlight were also pointed out as the important elements in nursing home design for the dementia.

  • 시대의 흐름에 따라 문화적 차이를 극복한 전략적인 제품 디자인의 중요성이 커지고 있다. 이에 따라, 문화의 성향을 파악하여 적절하게 대응할 수 있는 디자인이 필요하지만, 지금까지는 제품에 대한 선호도 또는 감성어휘 중심의 설문조사를 통해 각 문화의 통계적인 경향성을 파악하는 것이 대부분이었다. 그러나 디자인의 선호에 차이를 발생시키는 근본적인 문화 배경적 원인을 파악하지 않으면 체계적이고 지속적인 디자인 전략의 수립이 어렵다. 본 연구는 상이한 문화권에서 발생하는 제품디자인 선호 차이에 대한 원인을 문화적 성향의 차이에서 찾으려고 하였다. 또, 문화적 성향이 제품의 선호에 미치게 되는 원인을 문화연구 방법의 하나인 기호학을 통해 분석하고, 그 관계를 체계적인 모델로 설명하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 한국과 프랑스, 두 문화권에서 웹 기반 설문조사를 실시하여 문화적 성향과 모바일 폰 이라는 제품에 대한 기본적 개념을 파악하고 선호하는 디자인을 조사하였다. 그 결과 첫째, 문화적 성향이 모바일 폰의 개념 형성에 영향을 미쳐 한국에서는 필수품이자 자신을 표현하는 제품으로, 프랑스에서는 필수적이지 않으며 개인에게 유용한 도구로 여기며 그에 따라 한국에서는 디자인을, 프랑스에서는 기능적 요소를 중요하게 생각하는 등의 차이가 발생하는 것을 발견하였다. 또, 상이한 제품개념이 디자인 선호에 차이를 유발하여 프랑스에서는 유(柔)하고 정적인 디자인을, 한국에서는 강하고 동적인 감성의 디자인을 선호함을 분석할 수 있었다. 더 나아가 이러한 결과를 종합하여 기호학적 개념에 입각하여 체계적인 모델을 제안함으로써 상이한 문화에서의 상이한 디자인 선호에 대한 원인을 규명할 수 있었다.

  • Recently, Daejeon Metropolitan City is planning a futuristic city with Daedeok Special District at the center of its transformation into a city of nature, science and culture along with the fourth industrial revolution. Therefore, this research will divide the 1.5 km distance from the in Doryong-dong, Daejeon, science park intersection to the (Former)Daedeok Science and Culture Center, and propose a space design concept that incorporates IT technologies that fit the characteristics. The center will analyze the space status and derive an experience-oriented space design concept for user-centered planning so that it can serve as a guideline that will provide the fundamental direction for the promotion of the Daedeok Science Culture. Through the field survey, we will look for ways to integrate IT technology with infrastructure that needs improvement and change the distance of Daedeok Science culture as a smart street. The results of the field survey were : (1) made by connecting the persistence of comfort and safety issues, (2) uniformity and efficiency issues, and (3) the experience of identity problems and the orientation of the smart city. To create user-centered distances, we attempted to avoid uniform zoning based solely on infrastructure and zoning focusing on user behavior.

  • This study proposes and demonstrates the value of user - centered design methodology based on linguistic analysis. The results of the proposed user behavioural analysis framework suggested that the syntactic structure between the sentence structure and its components could be a logical basis for explaining the user's situation and behavior. Based on this, the definitions and classifications of user interactions and user contexts were conducted in a microscopically context. User behavior has also been established to identify pattern structures of purposeful nature and constitutes a user behavior sequence that prioritizes them. Next, the User Experience Analysis Framework was derived by defining the relationship between User Behavior and User Behavior and User Context and User Context. To verify the framework of the framework, a professional assessment was conducted to conduct a review of the user's experience and conduct a study of the framework of the framework and conduct of the framework of the framework of the framework and practical utility of the framework.   • The enlarge the range of internet users require user centered design method what understanding of cognitive faculties about users by different age groups. This study aims at analyzing cognitive faculties about visual information on web interface by different age groups, presenting visual perception cognitive process model as an evaluation model and proposing an effective web interface design guideline, On the basis of analyzing cognitive faculties verified what each detail property of visual perception cognitive process model as form, color, space, movement and physiological, physical cognitive faculties had have individual cognitive faculties. As the result visual perception cognitive process model suggested in this study can be used as an evaluation model of web interface and users' cognitive faculties analyzed in visual perception measurement by different age groups can be applied as a web interface design guideline. In addition, this study has a meaning in that it makes a chance to extend a web designer's roles and establish a direction of future research by usability of different age groups.

  • In modern society, with the changing lifestyle, demand for complex cultural spaces is rising and various cultural spaces are emerging. However, user-centered cultural space research has not yet been shown. In order to find out whether various cultural experience functions and user experience types of complex cultural spaces are being delivered properly, this study compared and analyzed the representative cultural spaces of Korea, 'Starfield Library' and 'ARC.N.BOOK'. User experience analysis tools and individual in-depth interviews were used as research methods. As a result, both spaces responded that commercial space and brand library were out of harmony and that the use of services in complex cultural spaces was inconvenient. This is interpreted as the result of the need for improvement measures in the value and usability of experience provided by the current complex cultural space and is expected to help develop the complex cultural space in the future.

  • The purpose of this study is to compare and analyze leading brands of the scooter-sharing system market of Korea, KICKGOING and Lime, in terms of user experience, and to suggest the improvement direction of the applications and scooters of those two services. The assessment was conducted in such a way that the experimental group using scooter-sharing system over a certain frequency would choose the specific service they use most frequently, and complete a questionnaire: based on the reorganized version of the Peter Morville's Honeycomb Model. Based on the results of the experiment, We drew a conclusion that the services need to add navigation features in the application, to provide more simple procedures for reporting breakdown or accident and browsing insurance information, and to improve the user and pedestrian safety levels by gamification, et cetera. We expect this study to help the fast-growing smart mobility market and scooter-sharing systems that represent the market develop into a user-centered way.

Analysis of Priority in the Robotaxi Design Elements : Focusing on Application of AHP Methodology (로보택시 설계 요소 간 우선순위 분석 : AHP 방법론 적용을 중심으로)

  • research on user-friendly experience design is crucial to reduce resistance and enhance acceptance of robotaxis. This study analyzes the prioritization of design factors in robotaxi systems and provides design guidelines based on user experience. Using the AHP(Analytic Hierarchy Process) technique, users' perceived importance of four primary design factors and sixteen 16 sub-design elements were assessed, and comfort and safety were top priorities. The results showed that the artificial intelligence agent was the most critical design factor, followed by driving guidance information, interior design, and exterior design. These findings offer valuable insights for robotaxi professionals, and could assist in informed decision-making and creating user-centered design guidelines.
