Data-driven Co-Design Process for New Product Development: A Case Study on Smart Heating Jacket (신제품 개발을 위한 데이터 기반 공동 디자인 프로세스: 스마트 난방복 사례 연구)

  • This research suggests a design process that effectively complements the human-centered design through an objective data-driven approach. The subjective human-centered design process can often lack objectivity and can be supplemented by the data-driven approaches to effectively discover hidden user needs. This research combines the data mining analysis with co-design process and verifies its applicability through the case study on the smart heating jacket. In the data mining process, the clustering can group the users which is the basis for selecting the target groups and the decision tree analysis primarily identifies the important user perception attributes and values. The broad point of view based on the data analysis is modified through the co-design process which is the deeper human-centered design process by using the developed workbook. In the co-design process, the journey maps, needs and pain points, ideas, values for the target user groups are identified and finalized. They can become the basis for starting new product development.

A Fashion Design Recommender Agent System using Collaborative Filtering and Sensibilities related to Textile Design Factors (텍스타일 기반의 협력적 필터링 기술과 디자인 요소에 따른 감성 분석을 이용한 패션 디자인 추천 에이전트 시스템)

  • In the life environment changed with not only the quality and the price of the products but also the material abundance, it is the most crucial factor for the strategy of product sales to investigate consumer's sensibility and preference degree. In this perspective, it is necessary to design and merchandise the products in cope with each consumer's sensibility and needs as well as its functional aspects. In this paper, we propose the Fashion Design Recommender Agent System (FDRAS-pro) for textile design applying collaborative filtering personalization technique as one of the methods of material development centered on consumer's sensibility and preference. For a collaborative filtering system based on textile, Representative-Attribute Neighborhood is adopted to determine the number or neighbors that will be used for preferences estimation. Pearson's Correlation Coefficient is used to calculate similarity weights among users. We build a database founded on the sensibility adjectives to develop textile designs by extracting the representative sensibility adjectives from users' sensibility and preferences about textile designs. FDRAS-pro recommends textile designs to a customer who has a similar propensity about textile. To investigate the sensibility and emotion according to the effect of design factors, fertile designs were analyzed in terms of 9 design factors, such as, motif source, motif-background ratio, motif variation, motif interpretation, motif arrangement, motif articulation, hue contrast, value contrast, chroma contrast. Finally, we plan to conduct empirical applications to verify the adequacy and the validity of our system.

  • The emergence of knowledge-sharing live streamers provides more diversified content to the live streaming platform. Analysis of the factors affecting the intention to use knowledge sharing live streaming users can allow the live streaming platform to understand better the adoption characteristics of users who follow this type of content. Help platform operators provide better services and help live streaming platforms innovate. Based on the TAM model, this research uses questionnaire surveys and structural equation models to construct a conceptual model of the influencing factors of users' intentions in the knowledge sharing live streaming and conduct an empirical analysis on the influencing factor models. The results of data analysis show that a significant influence of users' attitudes of knowledge sharing live streaming is perceived usefulness, followed by flow experience; perceived value has a positive impact on users' attitudes and intention to use, and the positive influence of users attitude significantly affect the user's intention.

  • 자동차 인테리어 디자인에 있어서 색상은 외형디자인과 함께 사용자의 감성적 평가를 결정짓는 중요한 요인중의 하나이다. 그러나 이러한 중요성에도 불구하고 이에 대한 체계적인 연구가 이루어지지 않고 있는데 그 주된 이유로 자동차 프로토타입 모델의 완성 전에 가상적인 색상 배색 시뮬레이션을 해 볼 수 있는 기술적 기반이 미약했음을 들 수 있다. 다행히 최근의 컴퓨터 하드웨어 발달로 자동차 색상계획 단계에서 실시간으로 색채 배색효과를 시뮬레이션 할 수 있는 환경의 구축이 가능해지고 있다. 본 연구에서는 색상이미지에 대한 사용자 감성척도를 기반으로 색상 배색 디자인을 지원할 수 있는 자동차 인테리어 색상 배색 지원 시스템을 제안하고자 한다. 지원 시스템은 색상 감성 요소의 수집을 위한 정보수집 모듈, 색채 감성과 색상 속성의 상관관계를 추출하기 위한 컬러 감성 해석 모듈, 디자이너의 색상 배색을 지원하기 위한 시뮬레이션 모듈, 도출된 배색의 평가 테스트를 위한 평가 지원 모듈로 구성된다.

  • 웹 프로젝트는 다양한 언어와 기술들이 결합되어 매우 복잡하고, 개발 및 유지보수의 생산성이 낮은 분야이다. 특히, 화면의 디자인과 프로그램 코드가 혼재되어 있다는 것이 공동개발과 이해를 가장 어렵게 한다. 웹 기반 시스템을 개발하기 위해서는 사용자 인터페이스 디자이너가 먼저 화면 레이아웃을 설계한 후 그 화면의 레이아웃 소스를 가지고 다시 프로그램 로드 개발자가 코딩을 하여 프로젝트를 완성한다. 유지 보수를 하는 경우에도 이와 비슷한 형태로 작업이 진행된다. 이러한 웹 기반의 소프트웨어 개발 방법은 JSP의 태그 라이브러리와 같은 다양한 형태로 제안되었으나 실제로 적용하는데 여러 가지 문제점이 있으며, 기존치 C/S 기반의 소프트웨어 개발에 비해 생산성 측면에서도 매우 좋지 않다. 본 논문에서는 웹 환경에서 운영되는 정보 시스템의 개발 과정에서 발생하는 디자인(사용자 인터페이스)과 프로그램을 분리하기 위한 방법론들의 문제점들을 제시하고 효율적인 분리 방법론이 갖추어야할 조건들을 제시하였다.

  • It is important for the strategy of product sales to investigate the consumer's sensitivity and preference degree in the environment that the process of material development has been changed focusing on the consumer renter. In the present study, we propose the Fashion Design Recommender System (FDRS) of textile design applying collaborative filtering personalization technique as one of methods in the material development centered on consumer's sensibility and preferences. In collaborative filtering personalization technique based on textile, Pearson Correlation Coefficient is used to calculate similarity weights between users. We build the database founded on the sensibility adjective to develop textile designs by extracting the representative sensibility adjective from users' sensibility and preferences about textile designs. FDRS recommends textile designs to a consumer who has a similar propensity about textile. Ultimately, this paper sugeests empirical applications to verify the adequacy and the validity on this system with the development of Fashion Design Recommender System (FDRS)

Smart-textronics Product Development Process by Systematic Participatory Design Method (체계적인 사용자 참여형 디자인 방법론을 활용한 스마트 텍스트로닉스 제품 개발 프로세스)

  • Smart-textronics technology which enables functional textiles has recently been applied in various fields such as smart clothes, smart home and smart health care, and a variety of smart-textronics products have been developed. In this context, the smart-textronics product development process is proposed based on the systematic participatory design method in this paper. The proposed method consists of two phases: in-depth interviews and analyzing. In the phase of in-depth interviews, participants are asked to create journey maps that include activities, pain points and emotional status and to generate solution ideas with sketches and simple prototypes. In the analyzing phase, design researchers investigate the participants' journey maps, and create personas by identifying critical characteristics with the behavior pattern analysis. Then, each persona's needs are linked with value elements of the E3 value framework. Finally, pre-survey was conducted to identify smart-textronics market and a smart sofa design is proceeded as the case study to show the applicability of the proposed method.

  • As information radically increases owing to the proliferation of Internet, users are highly interested in information design that enables them to easily approach the information desired by them and shows the unsystematic information in summarized and recognizable information by rearrangement. In the problem, general users could not easily recognize such information design, because it was not designed on the basis of understanding the situation where users actually contacted, but used the method that visualized based on the result which emphasized the aspect of system. Studying map information retrieval site for improvement of efficiency of information delivery, this research analyzed user interface design problems of map information service through evaluation list acquired by investigating user interface design principle and mutually comparing with information visualization system evaluation standard.

  • The final goal of this research is development of graphic design evaluation methodology in elevation of a usability at the mobile internet services and of measurement model which can forecast user needs in interface design, and systemize evaluation basis. For this, we systemize core contents of GUI design evaluation methodology and embodied UI design support system that supports prototype layout and evaluation process directly. The sight language that can inform flow of controled information by the quick and implicated method so that user may complete task in a short time without overload of recognition in limited display environment of Small Screen device it must improve objectivity in the reflection of UI design with image. Thus evaluation methodology that can evaluate usability of mobile internet systematically is important and specially, graphic design evaluation model which can forecast user's design need and trend is meaningful because of special quality that can reflect sensitive aspect of user in interface design. Mobile internet GUI was done by the result of this design evaluation, and I hope this result can be utilized for the GUI development of Ubiquitous environment for the future research.

  • This research has studied developing the persona model based on alan cooper's user oriented design which is newly in the limelight in the field of product design process. As developing the persona model, In-depth interview and FGI(focus group interview) has been conducted for extracting car navigation user group's motivation and using attribute. Based on research, three different car navigation user group were divided-low using & understanding the function group, medium using & well understanding the function group, heavy using & well understanding the function group. This research yielded the foundation for setting the persona model and this persona gives the key factor for producing the user oriented user Interface design after all.
