Bifurcation Solutions of Natural Convection in a Trapezoidal Cavity (사다리꼴 밀폐공간 내에서 자연대류의 이중해에 관한 연구)

  • Natural convection in trapezoidal sections of cavity was numerically investigated using a Finite Volume Method. Temperatures of the upper inclined and lower horizontal walls are constant, with vertical side walls being insulated. When the top wall is hotter than the bottom one, a single cell of stratified flow field is obtained and heat transfer occurs only by conduction. For the colder top wall, bifurcation solutions are obtained for the higher Rayleigh numbers, while unique solutions for lower values. Flow structure is strongly dependent on the configuration and the Rayleigh number.

  • A modeling method for the dynamic characteristic analysis of a translationally accelerated trapezoidal cantilever plate is presented in this paper. The equations of motion for the plate are derived and transformed into a dimensionless form. The effects of the inclination angles and the acceleration on the vibration characteristics of the plate are investigated. Incidentally, natural frequency loci veering and associated mode shape variations are observed and discussed

  • A reversed trapezoidal fin with the fluid in the inside wall is analyzed and optimized in this study. As a fin base boundary condition, the heat transfer from inside wall fluid to the fin base is considered. The values of fin base temperature with the variations of inside wall fluid convection characteristic number and fin base length are listed. The heat transfer, fin effectiveness, fin length and fin base height are optimized as a function of fin base length, convection characteristic number ratio, fin shape factor and fin volume.

  • In this paper, the transient response analysis of the trapezoidal corrugated plate subjected to the pulse load is investigated by the theoretical method. Three types of pulse loads are considered: stepped, isosceles triangular and right triangular pulse loads. The corrugated plates can be represented as an orthotropic plate. Both the effective extensional and flexural stiffness of this equivalent orthotropic plate are considered in the analysis. The plate is stiffened by concentric stiffeners perpendicular to the corrugation direction. The stiffening effect is represented by the discrete stiffener theory. This theoretical results are validated by those obtained from 3D finite element analysis based on shell elements. Some numerical results are presented to check the effect of the geometric properties.

  • This study focuses on the analysis of prospective elementary teachers' representation of trapezoid area and teacher educator's reflecting in the context of a mathematics course. In this study, I use my own teaching and classroom of prospective elementary teachers as the site for investigation. 1 examine the ways in which my own pedagogical content knowledge as a teacher educator influence and influenced by my work with students. Data for the study is provided by audiotape of class proceeding. Episode describes the ways in which the mathematics was presented with respect to the development and use of representation, and centers around trapezoid area. The episode deals with my gaining a deeper understanding of different types of representations-symbolic, visual, and language. In conclusion, I present two major finding of this study. First, Each representation influences mutually. Prospective elementary teachers reasoned visual representation from symbolic and language. And converse is true. Second, Teacher educator should be prepared proper mathematical language through teaching and learning with his students.

  • This study analyzes and optimizes a design for a trapezoidal profile straight fin using one-dimensional analytical method. The heat transfer, fin length and fin height are optimized as a function of fin volume, fin shape factor and fin base length. In this optimization, convection characteristic number over fin surface and that of fluid inside fin wall are considered. One of the results shows that the maximum heat loss increases as fin volume increases and both fin shape factor and fin base length decrease.

  • Formula for the area of a trapezoid is an educational material that can handle algebraic and geometric perspectives simultaneously. In this note, we will make up the expression equivalent algebraically to the formula for the area of a trapezoid, and deal with the conversion of a geometric point of view, in algebraic terms of translating and interpreting the expression geometrically. As a result, the geometric conversion model, the first algebraic model, the second algebraic model are obtained. Therefore, this problem is a good material to understand the advantages and disadvantages of the algebraic and geometric perspectives and to improve the mathematical insight through complementary activity. In addition, these activities can be used as material for enrichment and gifted education, because it helps cultivate a rich perspective on diverse and creative thinking and mathematical concepts.

  • 본 논문에서는 퍼지 영상처리 기법을 이용하여 손뼈의 X-Ray 영상에서 손뼈의 윤곽선을 추출하는 방법을 제안한다. 제안된 방법에서는 전 처리 단계로써 감마 상관관계를 이용하여 X-Ray 영상에서 손뼈를 제외한 피부층을 제거한다. 피부층이 제거된 영상에서 손뼈를 뚜렷하게 만들기 위해 샤프닝 기법을 사용한다. 샤프닝 기법이 적용된 영상에서 손뼈의 명암대비를 선명하게 하기 위해 사다리꼴 형태의 Fuzzy Stretching 기법을 적용한다. 사다리꼴 형태의 Fuzzy Stretching 기법을 적용한 영상에서 Canny Edge 기법을 적용하여 손뼈의 윤곽선을 추출한다. 제안된 추출 방법을 20개의 실험 영상을 대상으로 실험한 결과, 16개의 실험 영상에서는 손뼈의 윤곽선이 정확히 추출되었고 4개의 실험 영상에서는 손뼈의 윤곽선이 손실된 상태로 추출되었다.

Analysis of Temperature Distribution and Heat Loss for an Asymmetric Trapezoidal Fin (비대칭 사다리꼴 핀의 온도분포와 열손실 해석)

  • The temperature distribution of an asymmetric trapezoidal fin with various upper lateral surface slopes is investigated by using the two-dimensional analytic method. For this asymmetric fin, convection from the inner fluid to the inner wall, conduction from the inner wall to the fin base and conduction through the fin base are considered simultaneously. The temperature profile with the variation of dimensionless fin length and height coordinates is shown. Also, the temperature variation at the bottom tip of the fin is presented as a function of the fin shape factor. Heat losses through the fin base and from each side are compared for variations in fin length. One of the results shows that temperature at the fin bottom tip decreases linearly as the fin shape factor increases.
