This paper critically investigates the cultural phenomenon surrounding the news mobile phone app in which 'curation', relying on the news editing and adaption, has become much more significant than making the news directly. This study affirms the fact that a copying culture which is basically a combinative effect of duplication (alias) and imitation(mimesis) enables us enrich the human beings' creative activities. However, we need to warn the regressive aspects of copying culture challenging the journalistic principles. This study exemplifies a case of Pikicast, which has become the most rapid growing news content mobile app in Korea. By doing a case study, this paper suggests that 'social gift' should be given to the online users as a whole. The communal and social gift would be an alternative way to the unpaid crawling of the news resources from the digital commons by the news content curating corporation such as Pikicast.

This study applied virtual reality to women health nursing practicum for nursing students and analyzed the educational effect on meta-cognition and critical thinking. The study design was a convergent mixed method using single-group pre-post test design and individual in-depth interviews. After applying the virtual reality program, the post-score (104.16±12.98) was statistically significantly higher than the pre-score (98.59±18.09) (t=1.85, p=.030). There was no statistically significant difference in critical thinking after the program, with the post-score of 101.66±7.18 and the pre-score of 99.18±15.13 (t=1.00, p=.108). Therefore, women health nursing practice education using virtual reality can help improve the meta-cognition of nursing students.

The Critical Consciousness Scale (CCS) is a scale developed by Diemer and colleagues (2017) that can measure the capacity of the oppressed or marginalized people to critically analyze their social and political conditions, support societal equality, and take action to change the perceived inequities. In this study, we validated the CCS for Korea by adapting and localizing the scale and validating it among university students. Content validity was verified by having five individuals with master's and doctoral degrees in psychology evaluate the suitability of the translated items. Afterwards, reliability and validity were verified through a survey of 314 university students nationwide using the CCS, along with the opportunity inequality recognition scale, recognition of the need for environmental change scale, social participation scale, and belief in a just world scale. To verify the scale's validity, exploratory factor analysis was conducted, confirming three subfactors. Then, a confirmatory factor analysis was carried out, where 14 items out of the original 22 were retained. The construct validity and reliability of these 14 items were found to be satisfactory. Additionally, in the correlation analysis between the CCS and similar scales, a significant clear relationship was found. The CCS showed a positive correlation with scales such as opportunity inequality recognition, need for environmental change recognition, and social participation, and a negative correlation with the belief in a just world scale. Based on these results, the CCS can be considered valid and reliable. Finally, the limitations and significance of this study were discussed.

Rooted in the work of Pierre Bourdieu, the cultural intermediaries have recently developed as a focus of attention for the Anglo-saxon sociology of culture and cultural studies. This paper tries to critically examine the debate around the definition and role of cultural intermediaries. It also explores the applicability of the notion ‘cultural intermediaries’ to a changing digital mediascape. In the first part of the paper, I clarify the critical problematics inherent in the Bourdieusian conception which focuses on the function of cultural intermediaries for the ‘production of the belief’ in cultural goods. Consequently, I draw attention to the mediation and transformation process of ‘legitimate culture’ by critics in mass media as ‘new cultural intermediaries’. In the second part, I attempt to constitute a typology of cultural intermediaries, proposing the notion of ‘on-line cultural mediation’ and ‘on-line cultural intermediaries’. I also outline the characteristics of three different types (‘traditional’, ‘new' and 'on-line') of cultural intermediaries. I argue this new conception of cultural intermediaries can help to understand the complex power relations and their transmutation in various cultural fields under digital environment.

Due to globalization, diversification, and informatization, modern society confronts change and crisis in a variety of areas such as economy, politics, and culture. In that context, mathematics educators seek for how to reform school mathematics for democratic and just society. This research proposes critical mathematics education as an alternative model of school mathematics for democratic society. In particular, this research is an explorative study to construct a model of critical mathematics education program. For the purpose, we conducted a comprehensive literature review to identify goals, contents, and methods of teaching and learning, and method of assessment for critical mathematics education. We checked the validity of the model by using the cases of critical mathematics education. Since this research is explorative in the regard that the model is based on theoretical literatures, further research is necessary to extend the model through design research in school context.

This study is a descriptive correlation study to identify the relationship among online collaborating learning attitudes, empathy, critical thinking disposition, and sense of community in nursing students in the online learning environment during COVID-19. Data were collected from 129 nursing students. The SPSS/28.0 program was used to analyze the data using descriptive statistics, Pearson's correlation coefficient, independent t-test, one-way ANOVA, Scheffé test, Pearson's correlation analysis, and hierarchical multiple regression. Factors that significantly affect sense of community in nursing students were online collaborating learning attitudes and critical thinking disposition, and the explanatory power was about 42.2%. Based on these results, in order to increase sense of community of nursing students in non-face-to-face learning environment, it is required to strengthen the problem-solving-centered learning method cultivating the online collaborating learning attitude and critical thinking disposition.

This study selected the objects and the content factors of multicultural education in home economics, and analyzed multicultural contents reflected on high school technology & home economics textbooks. Based on these results, this study suggests the direction for improving technology & home economics textbook. We set up the object of multicultural education in home economics as creating the new culture through developing multicultural ability by critical thinking. The distribution analysis of multicultural contents of six kinds of technology & home economics textbook resulted that most of contents are assigned to 'knowledge section'. And 'personal relationship and group function' holds the highest ratio among the sub-sections of 'function section'. The 'value section' shows even distribution in its sub-sections. Most of textbooks contain characteristics of Korean traditional culture and necessary value in multicultural society. But, there are lack of contents about the way of communication with other cultures and coexist with diverse cultures. When we develops new textbook hereafter, it is necessary to contain the contents about which can help to understand and respect diverse culture through the egalitarian perspective and, by extension, which can make students think critically about the attitude, values, environment and way of live together with multicultural members in society. From now on Home Economics education will help the students who live in multicultural society to be understand about the differences in diverse culture and to create a desirable culture through the critical thinking as well.

This study investigated the mediating effect of critical thinking disposition on the relationship between ego resilience and self-leadership of nursing students. The subjects of the study were 193 third-year and fourth-year nursing students from three universities in G Province, and data were collected from November 1 to November 19, 2021. The collected data were subjected to descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation, and multiple regression using the SPSS/WIN 23.0 program. The mediation effect was analyzed using Baron and Kenny's three-step procedure, and the statistical significance of the mediation effect was verified using the Sobel test. As a result of this study, self-leadership was positively correlated with ego resilience(r=.43, p<.001) and critical thinking disposition(r=.51, p<.001), and ego resilience was positively correlated with critical thinking disposition(r =.58, p<.001). It was found that there was a partial mediating effect of critical thinking disposition in the relationship between ego resilience and self-leadership(Sobel test: Z=5.05, p<.001). Therefore, in order to increase the self-leadership of nursing students, an integrated approach is needed to improve ego resilience and critical thinking disposition.

This study examines the effectiveness of the study through a case of PBL (problem-based learning) class conducted in a balanced culture course called at 00 - University in the second semester of 2020. The effects we can achieve through learning are as follows: First, problem-based learning (PBL) has sufficient active interaction between the teacher and the learner. Second, PBL learning can actively utilize various problems that fit the characteristics of the subject and actively utilize the process of role sharing and collaboration. Third, critical perceptions of problem situations can be extended. The limitations identified in this class case are, first, the nature of the subject, "Understanding Culture and Philosophy," which makes it possible to discuss the global cultural phenomenon, but it should be discussed in terms of philosophy. Second, it is not easy to work as a team on non-face-to-face online.

This study explored possibilities and conditions of the SNS dromological paradigm and creative resistance in SNS era. For solve this theoretical questions, I analyzed authority of speed and material conditions. In order to attain this achieve, reviewed Virilio's theories which is criticizing speed, power and sense of artificial. And also studied Kittler's theories about material conditions, 'Information Machine'. Following those theoretical base, this study find social issues and advanced research's propensity for connecting SNS dromological paradigm. Furthermore, I designed depth interview to find SNS users think and experience. This study's significance of result is expanding cultural study filed in SNS approach and provided that exploratory sight.
