Evaluation of Fatigue Degradation in SUS316L Using Nonlinear Ultrasonics (초음파의 비선형 특성을 이용한 SUS316L 재료의 피로 열화 평가에 관한 연구)

  • This study evaluated the fatigue degradation in a SUS316L specimen using the nonlinear ultrasonic method. The nonlinearity of the ultrasonic wave was estimated by a relative nonlinear parameter defined as the ratio of the amplitudes for the fundamental wave to the second harmonic wave. In the experiment, a measurement system with contact transducers was constructed; reliable measurements were assured by keeping measurement conditions consistent and reducing extra harmonics generated in the measurement system. Two types of SUS316L specimen were used in experiments; a rotating bar fatigue specimen and a tensile fatigue specimen. The fatigue condition used was high cycle fatigue. The former specimen had a cylindrical shape and was used to observe the change in the nonlinear parameter after fatigue accumulation in a specimen. The latter was a plate-shaped specimen and was used to confirm the change in the nonlinear parameter at the position where the fatigue stress was concentrated. The measured nonlinear parameter showed a strong correlation to the damage level in both fatigue tests.

  • To assess the safety of nonlinear steel frame structures subjected to short duration dynamic loadings, especially seismic loading, a nonlinear time domain reliability analysis procedure is proposed in the context of the stochastic finite element concept. In the proposed algorithm, the finite element formulation is combined with concepts of the response surface method, the first order reliability method, and the iterative linear interpolation scheme. This leads to the stochastic finite element concept. Actual earthquake loading time-histories are used to excite structures, enabling a realistic representation of the loading conditions. The assumed stress-based finite element formulation is used to increase its efficiency. The algorithm also has the potential to evaluate the risk associated with any linear or nonlinear structure that can be represented by a finite element algorithm subjected to seismic loading or any short duration dynamic loading. The algorithm is explained with help of an example and verified using the Monte Carlo simulation technique.

Typhoon-surge Characteristics in Relation with the Tide-surge Interaction (조석-해일 비선형성과 관련된 태풍-해일 특성)

  • Tide-surge interaction during typhoon periods has been analyzed. The quantitative analysis of the Chi-square test shows that the interaction is most prominent at the Southwestern coast whereas the Western and the Southeastern regions are not. Patterns of surge type were divided into two groups, that is, steep type and mild type. Then, the interaction was turned out to be more prominent for mild type data. The weak interaction at the Western region is considered due to negative surges when the south-track typhoons attack. However, the interaction is remarkable when the west-track typhoons attack. The weak interaction at the Southeastern coast is, on the other hand, considered due to abundance of the steep type typhoons. Thus, inundation risk would be so apprehensive at that region because large-scale surge might be caused even at high tide.

  • This paper concerns delay-range-dependent robust stability and stabilization for time-delay nonliner system via T-S fuzzy model approach. The time delay is assumed to be a time-varying continuous function belonging to a given range. On the basis of a novel Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional, which includes the information of the range, delay-range-dependent stability criteria are established in terms of linear matrix inequality. It is shown that the new criteria can provide less conservative results than some existing ones. Moreover, the stability criteria are also used to design the stabilizing state-feedback controllers. Numerical examples are given to demonstrate the applicability of the proposed approach.

Dynamic Analysis of Geometric Nonlinear Behavior of Suspension Bridges under Random Wind Loads (랜덤풍하중에 대한 현수교의 기하학적 비선형 거동의 동적해석)

  • In this study, a method of nonlinear dynamic analysis of suspension bridges subjected to random wind loads is pre.sented. The nonlinearity considered is the one due to the interaction between the motion of the bridge girder and the tertsion variation of the main cables. The equation of motion is formulated using a continuum approach. The coupling between the vertical and torsional motions are included in the analysis. The equation of motion is solved by using the mode superposition method. The analysis is carried out in the frequency domain utilizing the stochastic linearization technique on to the modal equations. In the linearization procedure, the nonlinear terms are approximated as linear ones with constant terms. The verification of the method has been performed on a case with four modal degrees of freedom. Example analyses are carried out on two suspension bridges for various wind speeds and wind force parameters. Numerical results indicate that, by including the nonlinearity into the analysis, the dynamic responses of the bridges, particularly in the vertical direction, change considerably.

압전세라믹의 재료 물성 및 특성 평가기술

  • 압전재료의 다양한 에너지 변환특성 중 기계-전기 에너지간 변환 특성만을 이용하고자 하는 경우로 한정하고, 압전재료의 물성 및 진동모드, 재료물성 평가 사례들을 요약하여 소개하였다. 그러나 이상에서 설명한 압전특성은 매우 개략적인 개념으로서 우수한 압전 응용부품을 개발하기 위해서는 몇 가지 유의할 사항들이 있다. 압전재료는 보다 기본적으로 열에너지, 기계에너지, 전기에너지, 나아가서 Maxwell 방정식에 의해서 전기장과 연결되는 자기에너지까지도 연결시켜서 상호간에 에너지 변환작용을 일으킬 수 있는 특성을 가진다. 기계적 변형(S) = 탄성변형효과 + 역압전효과 + 열팽창효과 전기적 변위(D) = 압전효과 + 유전효과 + 초전효과 즉, 압전 응용부품이 온도변화 및 자기장이 인가되는 환경에서 순수하게 압전현상만을 이용하고자 한다면, 응용분야 및 주위환경에 따라 압전세라믹 소자가 외부 환경변화에 반응을 하지 않도록 적절한 차단 대책을 수립하여야만 한다. 그러나 압전재료의 외부 자기장의 변화에 대한 반응도는 전기장에 대한 반응도에 비해서 매우 작으므로 통상 무시해도 무방하다고 본다. 그리고 압전재료에서 전기장-기계장의 선형성이 보장되는 크기에는 뚜렷한 한계가 있고, 선형성 영역을 벗어나면 이력특성에 의해 비선형 특성 및 포화상태를 보이게 된다는 점 또한 주의하여야 할 점이다. 또한 압전특성은 Curie 온도이하에서만 존재하고, 그 이상의 온도에서는 쌍극자들의 지나친 운동성에 의해 결정 대칭성이 변하여 압전특성이 소멸되므로 사용 온도 구간에 엄격한 제한을 두어야 함도 응용에 유의하여야 한다.

  • 마이크로 컴퓨터로 실현(實現)되는 디지탈 필터는 유한어장효과(有限語張效果)에 기인(基因)한 양자화(量子化)(quantization)와 잉여현상(overflow) 때문에, 이상적(理想的)인 선형(線型)필터도 비선형(非線型) 특성(特性)을 나타내어 Limit Cycle과 같은 오차의 원인이 된다. 본(本) 논문(論文)에서는 수학행렬(行列)의 안정(安定)성질을 이용한 Norm-Lyapunov 함수를 이용하여, 디지탈 필터의 안정도를 해석하였다. 잉여현상이 없는 경우에는 Jury-Lee 판별법을 적용하여 전자(前者)와 비교하였다.

  • 인공신경회로망 기술은 선형 또는 비선형성 계산 문제를 복잡도에 무관하게 학습에 의해 자동으로 근사한다. 또한 알고리즘이 단순하며 잡음에 강하여 다양한 분야에 적용되고 있다. 반면 대상시스템의 특성이나 조건이 변경되면 계산성능을 보장할 수 없고, 계산의 신뢰성 보장 한계가 모호하기 때문에 제어문제에는 실용화가 어려운 것으로 알려져 있다. 제안 모델은 인공신경회로망의 장점을 유지하면서, 위와 같은 문제점을 해결한다. 시뮬레이션을 통하여 제안 모델은 기존 제어기에 비해 우수한 추종제어성능을 보이는 것으로 밝혀졌다.

  • There have been noticeable developments for the optimization of the highway and railroad alignments with the IT and computerized tools. The designers expect that all of the quantitative design elements should be considered. This study developed a methodology which can be useful for the vertical alignment design. It provides a accurate "vertical control point" searching method, and makes the vertical alignment optimization more efficiently. The vector method makes the searching faster and calculates more accurate application sections. The results from this method generate more reliable vertical alignments than the conventional raster method for less computation time.

  • In this paper, we have implemented an FMCW radar for a near distance measurement. In the structure of the FMCW radar, it is a key problem to solve the VCO nonlinearity. In this work, we have adopted a VCO nonlinearity compensation algorithm using the spectrum correlation of beat signals. The radar experimented in this work uses an X-band(9.55~10.25GHz) microwave signal, and realizes precision of 3% in the range of 30m. The prototype can be applied to the front surveillance radar such as in vehicle anti-collision and probing robot mission.
