Dynamic Analysis of Diesel Generators on Starting Large Induction Motors (대용량유도전동기 기동시의 비상용 디젤발전기 동특성 해석)

  • It is important to evaluate the voltage characteristics of diesel generator as an emergency power supply in nuclear power plant. On loss of offsite power sources, emergency safeguard loads required to safely shutdown the reactor should be supplied by diesel generator. This paper presents the dynamic stability program to evaluate diesel generator performance as an emergency power system. The results Indicate the diesel generator ability to start the motors successfully seems to life in its impedances and inertias.

안전계통/기기의 신뢰도 분석 자동화를 위한 발전과장일지 전산화 프로그램 개발

  • 본 논문은 원자력 발전소 안전계통/기기의 신뢰도를 평가하는데 있어서 필요한 데이터들을 관리하는 프로그램인 RAM-PRO의 계발에 관하여 기술하였다. RAM-PRO는 크게 두 가지의 프로그램으로 구성하였는데, 먼저 발전과장일지를 전산화하여 안전계통/기기와 관련된 시험, 운전이력을 데이터베이스에 저장하는 프로그램인 RAM-NOTE와 그 데이터로부터 신뢰도를 자동으로 계산하여주는 신뢰도 감시 프로그램인 RAM-REL으로 구현하였다. 이의 구현으로 인하여 실제로 월성 원자력 발전소 1호기의 예비/비상디젤발전기의 실제 데이터를 RAM-NOTE를 이용하여 입력하여 보았으며, 그 입력된 데이터베이스로부터 RAM-REL을 이용하여 신뢰도를 계산하여 보았다. 현재는 원자력 발전소의 모든 안전계통/기기에 적용 할 수 있도록 확장중에 있다.

  • Diesel engines are widely used as power supplies for isolated islands as well as emergency power supplies for large-capacity power plants because of their rapid response to operation, high reliability, and good durability. However, diesel engines are also vulnerable to damage or degradation of reliability when high levels of vibration are generated in them. This paper shows experiments and analysis for the determination of the causes of high-vibration phenomena in large-scale diesel engines, which have experienced various power decreases over several years because of the high levels of vibration. The main cause of the vibration is identified as the resonance created by the torsional vibration of its crank axis, and the appropriate countermeasures that were designed worked well when applied in field tests.

  • The failure frequency of the Emergency Diesel Generator(EDG) at Nuclear Power Plants(NPPs) is not so much lower than that of the Marine engines, whereas the running hours of the diesel engine at NPPs is much less than those of the engines for commercial service. The primary factor results from the severe surveillance test requirements such as fast start, large number of starting test, fast load-run, high load running, etc. The other factor comes from the excessive maintenance based on the engine maker's instruction manual that did not incorporate the peculiar characteristics of the diesel engines at NPPs. In this paper, the present preventive maintenance program on the basis of the Pielstick diesel engines was reviewed for the purpose of securing the reliability of the emergency diesel generator at NPPs and the ways for its improvement were presented by referring to the overseas cases for their applications.

Bayes Estimate for the Reliability of Nuclear-Power Plant Emergency Diesel Generator (비상디젤발전기 신뢰도에 대한 베이즈추정)

  • A commercial nuclear power station contains at least two emergency diesel generates(EDG) to control the risk of severe core demage during the station blackout accidents. Therefore the reliability of the EDG's to start and load-run on demend must be maintained at a sufficiently high level. Until now, a simple assessment of start and load-run success rates was used to calculate the EDG's reliability. However, this method has been found to contain many defects. Recently, the work of Martz et al.(1996) proposed the use of the Bayes estimator to find the EDG's reliability. In this paper, we will propose confidence interval for the Bayes estimator, compare the above two methods and, using practical examples, illustrate why the Bayes estimator method is more reasonable in our situation.

  • The Emergency Diesel Generator(EDG) is a very important piece of equipment for the safety of a Nuclear Power Plant(NPP). In this study, the operating vibration or three kinds or EDG system was measured. The target EDG systems art Yonggwang 5 unit, Ulchin 2 unit and Ulchin 3 unit. The Yonggwang 5 and Ulchin 3 unit EDG system is the same type but the foundation systems are different. One is an anchor bolt type and the other is a spring and viscous-damper type. The purpose of this measurement is for a verification of the vibration isolation effect according to the foundation system. As a result. it can he said that the spring and viscous damper system of the EDG performed well for the vibration isolation.

  • The reliable operation of onsite emergency diesel generator(EDG) should be ensured by a conditioning monitoring system designed to maintain, monitor and forecast the reliability level of diesel generator. The purpose of this paper is to develop condition diagnosis algorithm(logic) and analysis program of engine for the accurate diagnosis in actual condition of emergency diesel generator engine. As a result of this study, we confirmed that developed engine condition diagnosis algorithm and analysis program could be efficiently applied for actual EDG engine in nuclear power plant.

  • 본 논문은 가압펌프용 전동기에 대한 기동방법을 정류소자(Soft starter)에 의한 기동전류 제어방식을 채택하고 있는 수도사업장에서 한전 수전에 의한 펌프모터 기동시에는 원활하게 운전이 가능하였으나 비상용 디젤발전기 부하운전에서 펌프모터를 기동하는데 실패함에 따라 상이한 전력공급계통으로부터 펌프모터 기동시 콘덴서의 특이현상과 고조파의 영향에 따른 모터 기동특성을 비교분석한 사례를 중심으로 연구되었다.

  • 월성원자력4호기가 '99.06.09일 11:53분 경 전출력 소외전원상실시험시 주발전기 병입차단기 및 기동용변압기 차단기의 트립과 동시에 예상 밖의 13.8Kv 원자로 냉각재펌프모터#3(9.000HP)이 순시과전류 보호계전기(50Y) 동작으로 트립되어 이로 인한 냉각재 저유량으로 원자로 제1정지계통이 동작되고 원자로가 비상정지 되어 동 시험이 실패되었음. 이 비정상적인 고장은 예비디젤발전기의 수동 기동 병입과 터빈 수동 정지 및 주발전기 트립후 적절한 조치로 소내전원은 정상적으로 복구되었음. 이에 대해 냉각재펌프모터#3의 순시과전류 동작 원인을 유도전동기의 전원상실 후 발생되는 잔류전압(Residual Voltage)과 공급 모선전압(Bus Voltage) 측면에서 분석하며, 모터의 회전속도, 위상각, 잔류전압크기 변화 및 신속개방 절체시 냉각재펌프모터의 돌입 기동전류를 계산하고, PSS/E 프로그램을 사용한 간략한 모의 사례로 검증하였으며 이에 대한 재발방지를 위한 대책을 제시함.
