  • Recently, as living standards have improved, many people are becoming more interested in health, and self-training is increasing through exercise to prevent and manage pre-illness. In general, an imbalance of muscles causes asymmetry of posture, which can cause various diseases by accompanying an adjustment force, circulation action, displacement of internal organs, etc.. In this study, the development of fitness software that can be self - training among smart wears has attracted considerable attention in recent years. In this study, a technology was proposed for the commercialization of self - trainer fitness wear by a simulation through Android - based applications. Self - trainer fitness software was developed by combining a conductive polymer, fashion design, sewing, and electric and electronic technology to monitor the unbalance of the muscles during exercise and make smart wear that can calibrate the asymmetry by oneself. In particular, a polymer sensor was fabricated by deriving the optimal MWCNT concentration, and the electrode signal was collected by attaching the electrode to the optimal position, where the electrode signal line using the conductive fiber was designed and attached to collect the signal. A signal module that converts the bio-signals collected through electrical signal conversion and transmits them using Bluetooth communication was designed and manufactured. Self-trainer fitness software that can be commercialized was developed by combining noise cancellation with Android-based self-training application using a software algorithm method.

  • With the aim of examining changes in plantar pressure while walking depending on the position of carrying a bag, this study measured the plantar pressure of 33 normal male and female adults using the F-scan System in four different positions to carry a bag: walking without carrying a bag; walking with carrying a bag on both shoulders; walking with carrying a bag on one shoulder; and walking with carrying a bag in one hand. Changes in the plantar pressure of the subjects obtained in this study and the asymmetry of the left and right feet were analyzed. The plantar pressure of the different areas of the feet in the four different positions to carry a bag was compared. The left foot, except its toes and metatarsus, showed a statistically significant difference among the five conditions, and the right foot, except its 4th and 5th caput metatarsalis, also showed a statistically significant difference (P>.05). Given the results of this study, this experiment to examine changes in plantar pressure does not seem to be enough to identify which position to carry a bag, except carrying a bag on both shoulders, would have the lowest negative impact on the feet. It will be necessary to conduct a follow-up study on changes in plantar pressure depending on the position of carrying a bag and methods that can effectively treat abnormal positions such as scoliosis and kyphosis using asymmetric loads.

  • Enlargement is an inherent property of X-rays which occurs when straight hues diverse from small a focal spot. The purpose of the present study was to evaluate the validity of the correction of gonial angle width enlarged on frontal cephalogram, using frontal and lateral cephalograms taken orthogonally from each other. In 40 adult individuals, frontal and lateral cephalograms were taken at a $90^{\circ}$ angle using the Head Posture Aligner. The angle width was measured on the frontal cephalogram and subsequently. the corrected angle width was calculated using the magnification rate of two cephalograms. Measured and corrected angle widths were compared with the measurement from the 3D CT image. The measurement or the frontal cephalogram showed a 9.10mm of enlargement on average ranging from 7.92 to 11.31mm. Corrected angle width measurement showed a 0.14mm difference with the 3D CT image measurement, which was not statistically significant. The results of the study indicate that actual au91e width can be approached through calculation using frontal and lateral cephalograms taken orthogonally with the help of the Head Posture Aligner The study also showed that the magnitude of correction error did not show a significant correlation with the amount of menton deviation, and it suggests that the present correction method is valid even in individuals with severe facial asymmetry.

  • Numerical and experimental studies are carried out to analyse the resistance characteristics of a hydrofoil catamaran which is advancing on calm water with uniform speed. For the hydrofoil catamaran with modified Wigley hull which has asymmetric transverse section and transom stem, the studies are carried out for the range of Froude number 0.2 to 1.0 and the angle of attack of the hydrofoil $0.0^{\circ}$ to $3.0^{\circ}$. The model tests are carried out in the ship model basin of Inha University. Also the numerical computations using a finite difference method are performed for the simulations of fluid flow around the hull form and the results are compared with the results of the model tests. The present computation results show well quantitative agreement with the experimental results. The experimental results show that the shape and angle of attack of the foils exerts a considerable influence on the running posture and resistance performance of ship.

  • The purpose of this paper is to suggest the strategical lifting postures able to alleviate imbalanced EMG amplitude leading to an increase in low back muscle fatigue while lifting asymmetric load dynamically. Eleven male subjects are required to lift symmetrically an external load with 15.8kg and load center of gravity (LCG) deviated 10cm to the right from the floor to the waist height at the speed of about 25cm/sec. The EMG amplitudes on bilateral low back muscles (Longissimus, Iliocostalis, and Multifidus) are recorded during 2sec and analyzed. Independent variables are trunk postures (No bending vs. Bending to the LCG) and feet placements (Parallel vs. Right foot in front of the other vs. Right foot behind the other). Dependent variables are EMG amplitude average on six muscles and the EMG amplitude difference between right and left muscle group. Results indicate the phenomenon showing an amplitude increase in the left muscle group is equal to an decrease in the right one is observed in dynamic as well as static lifts, bending the trunk to the LCG increases amplitude discrepancy more than no trunk bending, and the amplitude discrepancy in one foot ipsilateral to LCG in front of the other foot is lowest among other foot postures. As bilateral EMG amplitude discrepancy increases total low back muscle fatigue, the strategical combination of no trunk bending and one foot close to LCG in front of the other is recommended for preventing elevated incidence of low back pain (LBP).

  • This research focuses on analysis of the flight trajectory characteristics of SLBM (Submarine Launched Ballistic Missile) of North Korea. Recently, North Korea tested launching of SLBM which is threatening international security. Also it is known that North Korea had possessed the technologies about SLBM since they disassembled submarines out of commission of the former Soviet Union. If the development of the SLBM of North Korea is completed, it should be affected as asymmetric threat to South Korea. Therefore, for active respondence to these threat, it is essential to analyze the SLBM systematically. In this point of view, this work made a SLBM flight model and simulated. In addition, we controled flight trajectories according to adjusting loft angle and described their characteristics. The sea-based ballistic missile defense system is required for an effective response to the flight trajectory of the SLBM from mid-course to terminal phase.

  • Various perturbations by the sun, the moon and the earth itself cause a continuous change in nominal position of a geostationary satellite. In order to maintain the satellite within a required window, north-south station keeping for controlling inclination and right ascension of ascending node, and east-west station keeping for controlling eccentricity and longitude are required. In this paper, station keeping maneuver simulation for Communication, Ocean and Meteorological Satellite (COMS) was performed using COMS Flight Dynamics Software(FDS) and the results were analyzed. COMS performs weekly based east-west/north-south station keeping to maintain satellite within ${\pm}0.05^{\circ}$ at the nominal longitude of $128.2^{\circ}E$. In addition, COMS performs wheel off-loading maneuver twice a day to eliminate attitude error caused by one-solar wing in the south panel of the satellite. In this paper, station keeping maneuver considering wheel off-loading maneuver was performed and the results showed that COMS can be maintained well within ${\pm}0.05^{\circ}$ window using COMS FDS.

  • The purpose of this study was to compare the electromyographic(EMG) activities of trunk and hip muscles between right and left sides while subjects performed prolonged manual task in asymmetric and symmetric weight-bearing posture. Fifteen healthy male college students were recruited for this study. The subjects were asked to perform bimanual upper extremity task for 6 minutes in two different standing postures. In the symmetric weight-bearing posture, the subjects were standing with evenly distributed body weights to both legs. In the asymmetric weight-bearing posture, the subjects distributed about 90% of their body weight onto their preferred(supporting) leg and 10% of their body weight onto the opposite leg while they were standing. EMG activities of the right and left internal oblique, erector spinae, gluteus maximus, and gluteus medius were measured and normalized as % MVIC. Then the EMG data were statistically analyzed using paired t-tests. The EMG activities of all measured muscles were not significantly different between the right and left side in the symmetrical weight-bearing posture(p>0.05). However, the EMG of the supporting side internal oblique was significantly lower than the opposite side(p<0.05), and the EMG of the erector spinae, gluteus maximus, and gluteus medius were significantly greater on the supporting side(p<0.05). The results of this study support that unbalanced use of right and left muscle possibly causes the changes in muscle length which results in asymmetry of trunk and hip muscles. Furthermore, the uneven weight support onto right and left legs will cause a distortion of viscoelastic ligaments around hip and sacroiliac joints in the long run. Further studies to determine the effect of various manual tasks on the trunk and hip muscles as well as the effect of asymmetrical weight-bearing standing posture on hip and back muscle fatigue may be required.

  • This study examined whether industry-level competition affects excess stock returns because of changes in cash holdings. Competitive inter-company threats increase the possibility of the manager's replacement, and function to induce management to make their best efforts, resulting in the amount and quality of the information provided by the enterprise increasing. Therefore, as competition intensifies, agency problems are reduced and stock returns increase because the company's cash holdings are expected to increase. However, there is a view that firms in industries with severe competition tend to have high information asymmetry because competitors may compete in more favorable positions by using detailed information disclosed by the competing firms. Accordingly, as market competition intensifies, the excess stock returns resulting from increased cash holdings are expected to decline. These results show that excess stock returns because of increases in cash holdings increase as the degree of competition in the industry intensifies, thus supporting the positive effect of market competition. Overall, the results of this study provide an understanding that market competition plays an effective external governance mechanism and that investors positively evaluate the cash held by companies with severe industry competition.

  • Side-jets enable the immediate maneuver of a missile compared to control surfaces; however, they may cause adverse effects on aerodynamic coefficients, for they interfere with freestream. To find out the impact of side-jets on aerodynamic coefficients, we simulate side-jets as air gas and utilize multi-fidelity models to evaluate differences between aerodynamic coefficients obtained with and without side-jets. We computed differences in aerodynamic coefficients to investigate side-jet effects for the changes of a Mach number, a bank angle, and an angle of attack. As a result, asymmetrically developed side-jets affect the longitudinal force and moment coefficients, and the lateral force and moment coefficients drastically change in-between -30 and 30 degrees of bank angles. In contrast, side-jets hardly influence the axial force coefficients. As for the axial moment coefficient, we could not determine the side-jet effect due to a lack of aerodynamic coefficient samples in the Mach number. All in all, we confirm that side-jets lead to the change of a missile attitude as they considerably vary the longitudinal and lateral aerodynamic coefficients.
