Rockets and Feathers Across Multi-Gasoline Products: Evidence from Error Correction Model (수송용 유류제품의 제품별 비대칭성에 관한 연구: 오차수정모형을 통한 접근)

  • This study empirically examines how asymmetric price adjustment of the retail gas price happens differently for various oil products, such as high-grade gasoline, regular gasoline, and diesel, by employing asymmetric error correction model within weekly data set from 2010~2015. Our estimation results show that the price adjustment, across the all oil types, predicated on shifting crude oil and wholesale oil prices is asymmetric. In addition, the duration of asymmetry was shorter in high-grade gasoline case than in other oil types. This took place by rapid price adjustment of high-grade gasoline price when faced with both cost increases and decreases, in comparison with regular gasoline and diesel cases. There results were attributed by characteristics of the consumer group and a high retail-wholesale margin of high-grade gasoline.

Ultrastructural Localization of GABAergic Neuronal Components in the Dog Basilar Pons (개의 교핵내 GABA성 신경세포 성분의 미세구조적 위치관찰)

  • An immunocytochemical study of GABA-positive neuronal elements was performed at the electron microscopic level to examine subcellular distribution of the inhibitory neurotransmitter in the dog basilar pons. Electron-dense reaction product was observed in neuronal somata and dendritic processes. One or more unlabeled axon terminals made asymmetric synaptic contacts with these GABAergic somatic and dendritic profiles. A large number of GABA-positive axon terminals were also observed. They made symmetric as well as asymmetric synaptic contacts with unlabeled dendritic profiles. In axo-axonic synapses, postsynaptic axon-like processes were consistently GABA-immunoreactive. These observations suggest that the inhibitory local circuit neurons in the dog basilar pons play a major role in cerebro-ponto-cerebellar circuitry by integrating various afferent inputs and conveying them into the cerebellar cortex and the deep cerebellar nuclei.

A Study on Price Asymmetries in Local Petroleum Markets (석유제품의 가격 비대칭성에 관한 연구)

  • Output prices tend to respond faster to input price increases than to decreases. The 'rockets and feathers' hypothesis of asymmetric price behavior in petroleum market is tested by a full adjustment error correction model. Using monthly data for the period January 1977 to June 2006, evidence is found that there is a significant degree of asymmetry in the adjustment of wholesale prices to increases and to decreases in crude oil price. A similar hypothesis in regard to the exchange rate is also rejected by the data. Using weekly data over the period examined, evidence of asymmetry for gasoline, diesel and heating oil is also found in the transmission of price changes from wholesale to retail: retail prices increase more quickly in response to the wholesale price increases than to wholesale price decreases.

  • Asymmetric membranes for pervaporation were prepared with poly sulfone and sulfonated poly sulfone in order to separate water from 90% by weight butanol solution. Chlorosulfonic acid was reacted with trimethylchlorosilane for using as a sulfonating agent. The prepared polymers were characterized with FT-IR and $^1H$-NMR. The thermal properties of the polymers were examined with DSC and TGA. Back titration method was used for the evaluation of the degree of sulfonation or the ion ex¬change capacity. N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone (NMP) and diethyleneglycol dimethyl ether (DGDE) cosolvent were used for the preparation of asymmetric membranes. The cross section and skin layer of the mem¬branes were examined with scanning electron michroscopy to investigate membrane structure formed with cosolvent composition in the casting solution. In this article, the selectivity of the dense films were not different from each other so much. However, the permeation rates were significantly increased as much as 80 times compared to that of dense film.

  • 카이랄 ${\alpha},{\beta}$-불포화 N-Acyloxazolidinone은 Diels-Alder 반응의 친다이엔체로서 dialkylaluminium chloride 촉매하에서 높은 반응성과 부분입체선택성을 가지는 것이 이미 실험적으로 알려져 왔다. 제안된 Diels-Alder 반응의 메커니즘을 토대로 진행한 DFT 계산에서 dimethylaluminium chloride(이하 DMAC)는 $TiCl_4$에 비해 높은 endo 선택성을 띄는 반면, $TiCl_4$는 부분입체선택성에서 우세했다. 특히 DMAC는 현저히 낮은 활성화 에너지를 나타내어 이론적으로 반응속도의 측면에서 상당한 이득이 있음을 예측할 수 있다. 또한 chiral auxiliary로서 phenyl과 isopropyl은 구조적인 차이로 인해 선택성에서 역시 차이를 보였다. 계산화학적인 방법을 통한 입체선택적 Diels-Alder 반응의 분석은 알려진 메커니즘에 대한 명확한 증거를 제시할 뿐만 아니라 다른 유기합성 반응에 있어서 새로운 반응을 개발하는 데 이론적인 근거를 뒷받침 한다.

  • TGARCH models characterized by asymmetric volatilities have been useful for analyzing various time series in financial econometrics. We are concerned with persistent volatility in the TGARCH context. Park et al. (2009) introduced I-TGARCH process exhibiting a certain persistency in volatility. This article applies I-TGARCH model to various financial time series in Korea and it is obtained that I-TGARCH provides a better fit than competing models.

  • $Rh-Pt/Al_{2}O_{3}$ catalysts were used for the first time to study its reaction characteristics in the asymmetric hydrogenation of ethyl pyruvate. The catalysts were prepared either by impregnation of Rh on a commercial $Pt/Al_{2}O_{3}$ or by sequential impregnation of Rh followed by impregnation of Pt on $Al_{2}O_{3}$. Reaction rate and enantiomeric excess (ee%) were compared according to the preparation method, Rh contents, and the reduction temperature of the catalyst. The physical characteristics of the catalysts were analyzed using XRD and TEM. Bimetallic $Rh-Pt/Al_{2}O_{3}$ catalysts showed an improved reaction rate and optical purity (63.6 ee%) with increasing the reduction temperature. The variation of the Rh contents as well as the preparation method elicited a big difference on the reaction rate, while enantiomeric excess (ee%) was lower (56~60%) with all bimetallic catalysts than with monometallic $Pt/Al_{2}O_{3}$ catalyst.

A Study on the Preparation of Hollow Microbeads Using Hydroxypropyl Chitosan (키토산 유도체를 이용한 화장품용 중공 마이크로비드의 제조에 관한 연구)

  • 게 껍질로부터 얻은 키틴을 탈아세틸화하여 키토산을 얻었으며, 얻어진 키토산의 유기용매에 대한 용해성을 향상시키기 위해 알칼리 조건에서 고압반응ㅇ기를 사용하여 프로필렌옥사이드와 반응시켜 치환율 3.5의 히드록시프로필 키토산을 합성하였다. 합성된 히드록시프로필 키토산은 고체상 CP/MAS 13C-NMR, 1H-NMR, FT-IR을 통해 반응이 키토산의 6번 탄소의 수산기와 2번 탄소의 아민기에 주로 일어났음을 알 수 있었다. 또한 X-선 회절분석을 통해 키토산의 결정성이 프로필렌옥사이드와의 반응에 의해 크게 감소하였음을 알 수 있었고, 그 결과 유기 용매에 대한 용해성이 현저히 증가되는 현상을 나타내었다. 한편, 히드록시프로필 키토산을 수상에 녹인 후 W/O 에멀젼상에 서 알칼리 촉매를 사용항 에피클로로히드린과 가교반응을 실시한 결과 내부가 비어있는 중공 마이크로비드를 얻을 수 있었다. 전자현미경을 통한 분석결과 중공 마이크로비드의 껍질의 내부에는 스킨층이 형성되어 있었으며, 외부 표면은 다공성이 높은 비대칭 막으로 되어 있음을 확인할 수 있었다.
