  • The purpose of this study is to analyze Korean college students' perceptions of interactions and senses of community, among students, and instructors and students as they took face-to-face classes by the time students and instructors came back to the classroom. Forty-nine college students participated in the study, and all of them had experienced non-face-to-face classes during the last two years from 2020 through 2021. They responded to the revised Rovai (2002)'s Classroom Community Scale (CCS), and the data were analyzed using a frequency analysis. The findings of data analysis showed that the students positively perceived the class contents and teaching formats of face-to-face classes, in terms of understanding and concentration on the class. On the other hand, it was found out that the students would still need more time for being familiar with face-to-face classes, and their affective variables of the educational environment should be considered.

  • This paper studies how the nature of educational programs run by public art museums in South Korea have been influenced by the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as to what extent the pandemic has caused operational problems for these museums. It, in effect, unveils the new museum culture of the COVID-19 era. It finds that the number of educational programs at the eight museums in Korea selected for this study has decreased 34% since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. The number of online educational programs, educational brochures and art kits at six of the museums has also increased by 70% compared to before the COVID-19 pandemic. Additionally, 'untact' programs thought up and created by artists have been gradually developing at certain art museums in South Korea, while VR/AR educational programs have been developing at museums in the Seoul Metropolitan Area. As such, this study reveals the changing characteristics of museum educational programs and the new museum educational culture in the COVID-19 era with the hope of opening up discussion about the future direction these programs will take.

  • This study is based on the Expectation Confirmation Theory (ECT) and categorizes trust types in non-face-to-face boarding services into three dimensions: structural assurance, platform, and service provider. It analyzes the impact of these trust types on users' perceived usefulness, satisfaction, and continuous usage intentions. Using a structural equation model, the study found that the three dimensions of trust positively influence users' satisfaction and perception of usefulness, thereby promoting intentions for continuous use. However, perceived risk weakens the positive relationship between trust and continuous usage intentions. By exploring the moderating role of perceived risk in non-face-to-face boarding services, this study analyzes its impact on user behavior patterns, contributing to the optimization of service design and enhancement of user trust. This study promotes widespread acceptance and continuous use of the service, and is crucial for developing effective non-contact service strategies that meet the needs and expectations of Chinese travelers in the post-pandemic travel environment. The findings provide a new perspective and empirical evidence for understanding user attitudes and behaviors towards non-face-to-face services, holding significant theoretical and practical implications.

  • The purpose of this paper is to find out the nature of language variation by exploring the ways of the progress of the language variation that produces all English-lects, i.e., the World Englishes. The study of language variation in linguistics is a hybrid enterprise, so the study of World Englishes has led to the recognition of a highly diverse set of all English-lects, encompassing regional dialects, sociolects, ethnolects and (post-)colonial dialects of World Englishes. In this paper, we propose a hybrid language variation model with three interacting factors of social distancing, on/off-contact, and linguistic diversity to examine the characteristics of language variation. In the context of World Englishes, the social distance is typically low in terms of their local location (country/speech) for local purposes. The social distance also varies based on online/offline communication modes and other social factors like gender, age and ethnic groups, resulting in all English-lects. To clarify the nature of World Englishes, the core Englishes, BrE, AmE and CanE are discussed here.
