This study is to propose temporal pattern of design rainfall which causes maximum peak discharge and to analyze the variation in peak discharge according to design rainfall durations. In this study, the Mononobe, the Yen and Chow triangular, the Huff's 4th quartiles and the Keifer and Chu methods are applied to estimate the proper temporal pattern of design rainfall and three rainfall-runoff models such as SCS, Nakayasu, and Clark methods are used to estimate the runoff hydrograph. And to examine the variability of peak discharge, the hydrologic characteristics from the rainfall-runoff models to which uniform rainfall intensity is applied are used as the standard values. The type of temporal pattern of design rainfall which causes maximum peak discharge in both of the watersheds and the rainfall-runoff models has resulted in Yen and Chow distribution method with the dimensionless vague of 0.75. On the basis of determined temporal pattern, the examination of the variability of peak discharge according to design rainfall durations shows that design rainfall duration varies greatly with the types of probable intensity formula, and the variation of peak discharge is more affected by the types of probable intensity formula and I-D-F currie than rainfall-runoff models.

We study estimation and inference of the joint conditional distributions of bivariate longitudinal outcomes using regression models and copulas. For the estimation of marginal models we consider a class of time-varying transformation models and combine the two marginal models using nonparametric empirical copulas. Regression parameters in the transformation model can be obtained as the solution of estimating equations and our models and estimation method can be applied in many situations where the conditional mean-based models are not good enough. Nonparametric copulas combined with time-varying transformation models may allow quite flexible modeling for the joint conditional distributions for bivariate longitudinal data. We apply our method to an epidemiological study of repeatedly measured bivariate cholesterol data.

The simplest and the most important distribution in survival analysis is the exponential distribution. In this paper, we investigate the influence of the random censorship model on the estimation of the scale parameter of the exponential distribution. The considered random censorship models are Koziol-Green model and the generalized exponential distribution model. Two models have different meanings. Through the simulation study, the averages of the estimated values of the parameter do not show big differences, however the MSE of the estimator tends to be bigger when the supposed model is significantly different from the true model.

Finite failure NHPP models presented in the literature exhibit either constant, monotonic increasing or monotonic decreasing failure occurrence rates per fault. In this paper, Goel-Okumoto and Yamada-Ohba-Osaki model was reviewed, proposes the exponentiated exponential distribution reliability model, which maked out efficiency substituted for gamma and Weibull model(2 parameter shape illustrated by Gupta and Kundu(2001) Algorithm to estimate the parameters used to maximum likelihood estimator and bisection method, model selection based on SSE, AIC statistics and Kolmogorov distance, for the sake of efficient model, was employed. Analysis of failure using NTDS data set for the sake of proposing shape parameter of the exponentiated exponential distribution was employed. This analysis of failure data compared with the exponentiated exponential distribution model and the existing model (using arithmetic and Laplace trend tests, bias tests) is presented.
Trip distribution is the second step of the conventional travel demand estimation process, which connects trips between origin and destination, while transport mode choice is the third step of the process, which chooses transport mode among several modes serving for each origin-destination pair. Although these two steps have closely connected, they have been estimated independently each other in the estimation procedure. This paper presents an integrated model combining trip distribution and transport mode choice, and also presents its solution algorithm. The model integrates gravity model adopted for the trip distribution process with logit model employed for the mode choice process. The model would be expected to cope with the inconsistency issue existing in the conventional travel demand estimation procedure. This paper also presents an equilibrium condition, sensitivity of the model, and compares them with those of existing models.
Hwang and Powers (2003) developed a simple model for estimating water retention characteristic (WRC) directly from particle-size distribution (PSD) data, by applying a lognormal distribution law to both PSD and pore-size distribution. The objective of this work was to determine if the performance of the model developed by Hwang and Powers (2003) would be affected by soil texture. The results of this research proved that the performance of the model was indeed affected by soil texture. In particular, its performance diminished with increases in the fine particle fractions. Also, the nonlinear model, which assumes a nonlinear relation between particle-size and pore-size, performed better than the linear model, regardless of soil texture classes.
