An engineered cementitious composite (Engineered Cementitious Composite) had been developed in previous study. Theoretical prediction of the tensile stress-strain relation of ECC is important in providing the material constitutive relation necessary for designing structural members. But, few studies have been reported with regard to predicting the tensile stress-strain relation of ECC. Prediction of the tensile stress-strain relation of ECC accounting for actual bridging curve, such as fiber dispersion is needed. The present study extends the work as developed by Kanda et al., by modeling the bridging curve, accounting for fiber dispersion, the degree of matrix spalling, and fiber rupture to predict the tensile stress-strain relation of ECC. The role of material variation in the bridging curve, such as number of effective fiber actually involved in the bridging capacity and how it affects the multiple cracking process is discussed. The approach for formulating the tensile stress-strain relation is discussed next, where the procedure for obtaining the necessary parameters, such as the crack spacing, is presented. Finally, the predicted stress-strain relation will be validated with experimental tests results.

Today, some bridges or highways are becoming superannuated in Korea. Also, in this section, rehabilitation, replacement and expansion are necessary to increasing traffic volumes these days. Bridge reconstruction is major problem because it has relation to civil application, economical loss and loss of vehicles made a detour while this work. Many precast components and methods of construction are developed for this issue. Many research of various precast components and new materials are being performed owing to apply to prefabrication bridges. The present paper represents experimental studies on the performance of precast CFFT pier model. Also, stay-in-place RC pier and stay-in-place CFFT pier are made an experiment on due to comparing test results. Hysteretic responses of all columns are obtained through the test. Compared with the displacement ductility factors, conclusions of seismic performances can be made.
This work proposes an optimality criteria applicable to the optimum design of plane frames subject to multiple behavioral constraints on member stresses and lateral displacements of nodes and also to side constraints on design variables. The method makes use of a first order approximation for both deflection and stress constraints instead of the zero order approximation based on the concept of FSD (fully stressed design). A redesign algorithm is derived from a mathematically rigorous method which uses the Newton-Raphson method to solve the system of nonlinear constraint equations and reduces the design space whenever minimum size restrictions become active. When applied to worked examples it proved more accurate and efficient, and it is often found that optimum designs are not fully stressed designs. This fact suggests that this rigorous method is worth what it claims for complicated computing and thus had better replace the crude stress ratio algorithm adopted by the majority of optimality criteria approaches. This is particularly true as long as we enjoy ever-increasing computing power at negligible costs.

This paper deals with geometrical non-linear analyses of the tapered cantilever column subjected to the sub-tangential follower force at the free end. Cross-sections of the column whose flexural rigidities are functionally varied with the axial coordinate. The differential equations governing the elastica of such column are derived on the basis of the large deformation theory. These differential equations have three unknown parameters of the vertical and horizontal deflections and rotation at the free end. These differential equations are numerically solved by the iteration technique for obtaining three unknowns and elastica of the deformed column. For validating theories developed herein, laboratory scaled experiments are conducted.

Recently, new open-cut modular construction method, which is built within a 5~7m depth below the road, was proposed for the near-surface transit system to ensure the economic feasibility of underground structures. In this paper, the precast modular construction method was developed for the low-cost and rapid construction of underground structures. For the experiment on the flexural performance of the modular slab connections, a total of eleven specimens were fabricated according to the test variables; section shape, joint type, lap length, and transverse reinforcement. The test results were compared with those of the specimens without loop joints. To verify the performance of the slab connections, the 4-point loading tests of precast RC members with loop joints were conducted. As a result of the test, the flexural performance of the half-depth specimens with a 200mm lap length of loop joints were confirmed to be similar to those of the specimens without joints.

Korea Infrastructure Safety and Technology Corporation (KISTEC) specifies that the safety inspection and precise safety diagnosis of concrete structures shall be conducted in accordance with the 'Special Law on Safety Management of Infrastructure'. The detailed safety inspection and precise safety diagnosis guidelines presented by KISTEC, however, gives only the grade of members and structures, and thus it is impossible to quantify remaining service life (RSL) of the structures and to quantitatively reflect the effect of differential settlements on the RSL. Therefore, this study aims to develop a RSL evaluation model considering the differential settlements. To this end, a simple equation was proposed based on the correlations between differential settlements and angular distortion, by which the angular distortion of structures was then reflected in nominal strengths of structural members. In addition, the effects of the differential settlements on the RSL of structures were analyzed in detail by using the safety diagnosis results of actual concrete structure.

In this paper, the effect on the lateral and torsional behavior of ballastless railway plate girder bridge by the installation of the lower horizontal bracing has been reviewed. First of all, the most efficient lower bracing arrangement has been reviewed by comparing and examining the lateral displacement due to the train load, targeting analysis models with different arrangement types of lower bracing. Next, the research on torsional behavior of plate girder bridge with lower bracing has been conducted. In addition, the torsion constant from FEM analysis results has been compared with the torsion constant of a railroad plate girder bridge with a closed section by substituting the upper and lower horizontal bracing with equivalent thickness. Based on this comparison, the impact on the bridge span length and the cross section area of the lower bracing has been examined. Through this study, the curve graph related to lateral buckling moment and torsional constant ratio is presented and the range of plate girder bridge requiring torsional reinforcement is proposed.
Shear tests were carried out on interface between two concrete eco-blocks which comprise segmental retaining wall. Three interface conditions were considered : 1) direct contact of two blocks, 2) placing rubber pad between two blocks, 3) placing rubber pad and shear key between two blocks. According to shear tests, shear load-shear displacement relationship which was obtained from direct contact of two blocks was similar to elastic-perfectly plastic behavior. Ductile behavior of shear load-shear displacement relationship was observed for the interface condition of placing rubber pad. Apparent minimum shear capacities and apparent friction angles for the interface conditions of direct contact of two blocks, placing rubber pad between two blocks, placing rubber pad and shear key were 1.7 kN/m, $27.6^{\circ}$ and 4.2 kN/m, $26.2^{\circ}$ and 20.9 kN/m, $26.0^{\circ}$ respectively.

In this study, direct algorithm-based back analysis was utilized to perform back analysis on two actual earth retaining wall fields, which was then compared with genetic algorithm-based method to evaluate the suitability of the back analysis. Additionally, in order to propose effective utilization methods of the program, the measurement data, as the input for the back analysis, was varied for each excavation step, and the applicability of the back analysis results(displacement, axial force) was examined. The research findings indicate that both direct algorithm and genetic algorithm show high applicability; however, the optimization for this program is better predicted by the direct algorithm. Moreover, in order to effectively use the back analysis program employing the direct algorithm, it was evaluated that relatively accurate prediction of the earth retaining wall behavior could be achieved by inputting measurement data from the 7th excavation step for fields with final excavation steps ranging from 8 to 11.

Recently, the advancement of mechanical tunnel boring machine (TBM) technology and the characteristics of subsea railway tunnels subjected to hydrostatic pressure have led to the widespread application of shield TBM methods in the design and construction of subsea railway tunnels. Subsea railway tunnels are exposed in a constant pore water pressure and are influenced by the amplification of seismic waves during earthquake. In particular, seismic loads acting on subsea railway tunnels under various ground conditions such as soft ground, soft soil-rock composite ground, and fractured zones can cause significant changes in tunnel displacement and stress, thereby affecting tunnel safety. Additionally, the dynamic response of the ground and tunnel varies based on seismic load parameters such as frequency characteristics, seismic waveform, and peak acceleration, adding complexity to the behavior of the ground-tunnel structure system. In this study, a finite difference method is employed to model the entire ground-tunnel structure system, considering hydrostatic pressure, for the investigation of dynamic behavior of subsea railway tunnel during earthquake. Since the key factors influencing the dynamic behavior during seismic events are ground conditions and seismic waves, six analysis cases are established based on virtual ground conditions: Case-1 with weathered soil, Case-2 with hard rock, Case-3 with a composite ground of soil and hard rock in the tunnel longitudinal direction, Case-4 with the tunnel passing through a narrow fault zone, Case-5 with a composite ground of soft soil and hard rock in the tunnel longitudinal direction, and Case-6 with the tunnel passing through a wide fractured zone. As a result, horizontal displacements due to earthquakes tend to increase with an increase in ground stiffness, however, the displacements tend to be restrained due to the confining effects of the ground and the rigid shield segments. On the contrary, peak compressive stress of segment significantly increases with weaker ground stiffness and the effects of displacement restrain contribute the increase of peak compressive stress of segment.
