  • The ability to make good cost overruns predictions is a very important aspect of in major construction project. The probabilistic cost models can provide more reliable than traditional cost models which have been used in korea to prepare Bill of Quantities, if the actual cost data are sufficient enough to analyze the trends of the variables. The paper considers non-deterministic methods in a cost estimate. The method(referred to as the 'Monte Carlo simulation' method) interprets cost data indirectly, to generate a probability distribution for total costs from the deficient elemental experience cost distribution.   • This study analyzed the major contents and results of revision through an analysis of the specifications and the field survey to revise the construction cost calculation criteria. The result of the survey found that the background processing difficulty was reduced due to an improvement of the quality level of the field floor, and the enhancement of the material's function brought a decrease in construction time and the application of various construction methods. In addition, the application of combined waterproofing methods using more than one material was increasing and the productivity differed according to the site and location. Based on these results, waterproof items were subdivided and applied to the composite construction method, and the input items were differentiated according to the material and construction method. The adequacy of the construction calculation criteria was ensured by presenting the criteria classified according to the construction area, and deleting the items that are not applicable and amending them to make them suitable for the specifications by reflecting the actual conditions of the construction on the site.

  • As Remodeling is proceed in the limited condition that is utilization of existing resource, the selection of remodeling objects and scope are affected by the correlation of building systems. Unexpected problems have occurred in construction phase by lack of the consideration about correlation of building systems; increasing of cost, delaying of schedule etc. Therefore, this research suggests the Building System Correlation Diagram Model and the method for selecting the alternative reasonably in remodeling project.

  • The government has enacted legislation to enforce selective dismantling in order to increase the recycling of construction waste. Therefore, this study aims to propose a standard quantity per unit estimation method, crucial for determining the expenses associated with large-scale demolition projects necessary for public development, particularly in the context of extensive land development ventures. Four individual houses were thoroughly examined and tested. We surveyed the house to create a floor plan and conducted a detailed investigation of interior materials in order to propose a Standard Quantity per Unit for cost estimation of the selective dismantling work. The process encompassed precise measurement of the houses, creation of schematics, thorough scrutiny of interior materials, and division of the dismantling process into components such as ceilings, walls, and floors. The duration of each dismantling task was meticulously documented. Particular emphasis was placed on refining the methodology to accommodate factors such as window openings, thereby ensuring a heightened level of precision compared to preceding studies. The outcomes of this study are anticipated to serve as practical benchmarks for estimating costs in demolition projects, thereby fostering sustainable development within the construction industry.

  • The estimated construction costs derived at the Planning stage of a project are utilized as important data determining the feasibility of overall project. Therefore the clients usually expect to have estimations of the construction cost as precise as possible and there has been extensive studies carried out by the cost specialists worldwide to satisfy this client's specific need whereas the local estimators still heavily rely on producing quantities and detail quotations only. This paper is to introduce a case study where elemental/functional area cost analysis is incorporated into a database system for the improved accuracy in cost estimations.

  • The SPS, Strut as a Permanent System, method is widely adopted for the main structural member in addition to temporary strut function for the shuttering of excavation work. Although the SPS method has contributed to cost saving, time reduction, enhancement of structural stability, improvement of construction environment and so on at the building construction site, it caused the problems of increase of basement height and additional work for fire protection of steel structure. The increase of basement height caused the increase of shuttering depth and excavation, and the fire protection caused the additional cost as well as the deterioration of construction environment. In order to improve the problems, this paper is to propose a modularized hybrid structural system(HSD). The detail of the system is introduced and the structural performance and constructibility are proved through the experiment and site application.

Variations of Building Methods and Costs of Modernized Hanok Test-bed Projects (실증구축을 통한 신한옥의 신공법 및 공사비 변화 요인 도출)

  • The research efforts to modernize Hanok (Korean traditional housing) have been performed to improve the quality and cost-effectiveness through application of modern building methods and materials, and to disseminate it in various forms of sizes and facilities. In this study, in order to identify the variations of modernized Hanok, data from seven test-bed projects are analyzed based on the building work-section, element, method, and material. The data were standardized and managed through the modernized Hanok classification system (Hanclass) to facilitate systematic comparisons of the test-bed projects by the variation of building method and it's cost impact. Identified factors of the variation in terms of building methods were then itemized and quantified in terms of building cost. Findings of this study indicate that the timber structure is the most critical area for future variation for improving the quality and cost-effectiveness. The results of this study will be also used to systemize the Hanok database for further studies.

  • Due to the characteristics of 3D objects of building construction projects which have regular, vertical and repetitive shapes, the most practical utilization of BIM in the country is focused on building projects. The characteristics of 3D objects of civil engineering project have irregular, horizontal and non-repetitive shapes. Therefore, consisting of a practical BIM model is difficult comparing with building project. This study suggests an application process of BIM for the planning and design phases for civil engineering project. A BIM system is developed based on suggested BIM process and it is verified through a bridge construction project.

  • 기술발전에 따라 건설현장은 스마트 안전관리기술을 활용한 안전관리의 변화가 예고되고 있다. 중대재해처벌법 시행(22.1.27)이후 50인 이상 사망사고는87건(96명)으로 전년 동기109건(111명)대비22건(20.2%), 15명(13.5%)감소한 것으로 나타났다(국토교통부,2022). 반면에 단순비교지만 일본0.14%, 미국0.37%, 영국0.03%에 비해 한국의 재해율이 높으므로 다양한 안전관리활동의 과제가 남아 있다. 이에 아차사고 유형이 건설현장 특성간의 민감도모델 제시를 기반으로 근본적인 재해관리가 연구의 목적이다. 이를 이루기 위해 국토교통부의 아차사고 발굴데이터를 분석하여 유형을 분류하고, 공사기간, 공사규모, 신체부위 등의 요인간의 아차사고 민감성요인에 대하여 Bayesian Network를 이용하여 아차사고에 영향을 주는 모델링을 제시하고자 한다.

  • 3D and BIM technology are presumed to be used more and more in the construction industry. The scope of this paper arose from a general wondering of how the constructor in general can benefit from the use of 3D models. Presented herewith is the first application of BIM in Korea to a actual bridge construction site located in Cheongpoong in Chooncheongbook-Do. This paper tries to integrate design, cost and schedule under location-based conditions with industry-specific solution for 3D modeling. 292 activities constitute the cable-stayed bridge of 442m long with a main span of 327m long. Integration of 3D model, cost and schedule is shown by comparing the measurements of works at a specific time by use of 2 different construction sequencing scenarios and cost breakdown structures.
