  • As a countermeasure about that, in this situation that suggest utilizing mixed drush sand and particle washed sand, this study is reviewing and comparing, as a experimental and positive test, mixed both workability and engineering properties of mortar, The purpose of this study make a suggestion that is fundamental data for utilizing mixed crush sand and particle washed sand.

  • Recently, interest grew on the quality of aggregates following the diminution of primary resources from river and the growing construction demand which exhausted high-quality sand sources around large cities and incited the use of low grade aggregates like shore sand and sea sand that can be supplied in natural state. Moreover, the most sensitive aspect highlighted by the unstability of aggregate supply is the quality.   • Recently, trouble of sand supplying is occurred according to exhaustion of natural sand resources. Therefore various measures are proposed for solution of trouble of sand supply and crushed sand among measures is used as one of most universal measures. But because crushed sand have poor particle shape and plenty of mikes micro particle, the quality of concrete using crushed sand deteriorated. Therefore, this study evaluated engineering property of concrete with replacement ratio of crushed sand and EEZ sand applied evaluation result to fundamental data for quality control of concrete using crushed sand and EEZ sand and The result of this study have shown that quality of concrete using crushed sand and EEZ sand and The compressive strengh of concrete up to 50, 70% EEZ sand replacement by crush sand, nearly equal to that of general sand.

  • 이 논문에서는 모래의 주성분을 분석하여 콘크리트 배합설계용의 적합성을 판별하는 시험방법을 제안한다. 주성분을 분석하는 방법은 자연모래와 부순 모래, 그리고 혼합모래에 포함된 유해물(점토, 마사토, 염화물)의 패턴을 분석하여 정지영상에서 유해물 비율을 나타내고자 한다. 영상으로 판독된 유해물 비율은 도로공사 품질시험기준에 의해 시험된 데이터와 비교하여 근접한 값을 도출해 내어 건설 자재인 모래에 섞여있는 유해물질을 검출해 내는 알고리즘을 제시한다.

  • Recently, interest grew recently on the quality of aggregates following the diminution of primary resources from river and the growing construction demand which exhausted high-quality sand sources around large cities and incited the use of low grade aggregates like shore sand and sea sand that can be supplied in natural state. Especially, the environmental preservation concern and the augmentation of public grievance about the exploitation of sea sand as substitute to river sand are gradually impeding the supply. This situation aggravated by the recent interdiction to extract sea sand which resulted in sand crisis that even led once to the suspension of construction works. The lack of sea sand and river sand increased the exploitation of crushed sand which occupies now nearly 20% of the whole quantity of fine aggregates. And, the use of crushed sand may be expected to grow continuously in the future. This paper described that the properties of crushed sand and the concrete using the crushed sand, the technologies to improve quality of crushed sand and the concrete in order to provide information for the production of high-quality concrete using crushed sand.

Development of Model Equations for Strength Properties with Age in Concrete Pavement (재령에 따른 포장용 콘크리트의 강도특성 예측식 개발)

  • This study was carried out to find reliable relations between various concrete strength properties which are used as input data in concrete pavement design program. Concretes were made from different sources of coarse grained(granite, limestone and sandstone) and fine grained aggregates such as natural sand, washed sand and crushed sand. From strength test results, model equations were obtained based on the relation between strengths. For each coarse grained aggregate, models for compression-flexural strengths, compression-split tensile strengths, compressive strength-modulus and flexural-split tensile strengths with age were obtained. For concrete mixed with gneiss granite aggregates, concrete strengths were obtained from numerical mean values of concrete strengths mixed with fine grained aggregates. In addition models for concrete split tensile strengths and modulus values were provide by averaging numerically the estimated values obtained from the derived relationship and the experimental values. This is due to more scattered values of split tensile strengths and modulus values than other strength properties. Finally criteria for drying shrinkage strain as well as Poisson's ratio for concrete used in pavement were presented for all mixes with differed coarse grained aggregates.

  • The purpose of this dissertation was to investigate the effect of mineral admixtures, such as fly ash, blast furnace slag powder, meta kaolin and silica fume, on the basic properties and durability of crushed sand shotcrete, selecting a series of shotcrete mixtures with a variable admixture. Compressive strength increased as the content of mineral admixtures increased, specially it was the most effective when using meta kaolin both at sample specimen and core after shotcreting. Rapid chloride ion permeability test and sulfuric acid resistance test showed that both durability increased as the substitute rate of mineral admixture increased. In air void analysis with image analysis, the targeted the spacing factor and specific surface were not satisfied because air-entrained agent was not used.

  • Recently, the demand of ultra high-rise building is on the increase in korea due to the rapidly changing movement in economic growth and the expansion of national infrastructure. At the same time, the tendency toward the amount used of concrete has greatly increased every year. In addition, as the seriousness of quantity demanded of aggregate is gathering strength, the active areas of research proceeds to do actively in every place in order to review the usability of crushed sand as a part of the countermeasures. And, it needs to establish the quality standard and service guide, etc. for the practical use. Accordingly, this study was to establish the ratio of water-binder materials as three levels like 23.5, 27.5, and 31.5%, and the replacement ratio as three levels like 0, 50, and 100% in order to define the engineering properties of ultra high-strength concrete using the crushed sand. This study was to examine it after establishing the combined condition by the substitute of the fine aggregate percentage and admixture. From the result of this research above, it may be summed up as follows. 1) The more the replacement ratio of crushed sand and the ratio of water-binder materials increased, the mon the fluidity decreased due to the decrease of irregular grain shape of sand and unit combined discretion. 2) This study found out that 100% of replacement ratio of crushed sand was almost similar level to the compressive strength of concrete using the natural sand.

  • This study presents the correlations between quantified particle shape parameters and internal friction angles for nine sand specimens including six natural sands and three crushed sands. Specimens are subjected to 3D X-ray computed tomographic imaging and their particles are segmented through the aid of image processing techniques. Shapes of segmented particles are then quantified through two shape parameters such as sphericity and elongation. The direct shear apparatus enables us to measure peak and critical state friction angles of sand specimens of distinct relative densities. The gathered data show that decreasing sphericity and increasing elongation cause increases in peak and critical state friction angle with similar gradients.
