The Comparative Analysis of Wearing Roller Shoes and Jogging Shoes on Kinematic Characteristics in the Lower Extremity during Walking (롤러 신발과 조깅 신발 착용 후 보행 시 하지 분절의 운동학적 특성 비교 분석)

  • The purpose of this study was to compare the effect of wearing roller shoes and jogging shoes on kinematic characteristics in lower extremity during walking. Eight male middle school students(age: $15.0{\pm}0.0^{\circ}$ yrs, height $175.9{\pm}6.6cm$, weight: $616.3{\pm}84.9$ N) who have no musculoskeletal disorder were recruited as the subjects. Temporal parameters, step length, stride length, center of mass, velocity of CM, angle of segment, angular velocity and range of motion were determined for each trial. For each dependent variable, paired t-test was performed to test if significant difference existed between shoe conditions(p < .05). The results showed that stride length and velocity of CM in wearing roller shoes were significantly less than those found in wearing jogging shoes. These indicated that walking patterns may be changed by different shoe conditions and unstable braking condition because of wheel. Angle of ankle joint at LHC1 and LHC2 in wearing roller shoes was greater than the corresponding value for wearing jogging shoes. It seems that the ankle joints are locked in an awkward fashion at the heel contact to compensate for imbalance. Otherwise, dorsi flexion was not produced at the heel contact point in wearing roller shoes.

A Study on the Eating Behaviors and Characteristics of Consumption Propensities on Dining out as Perceived by Silver Generation in Seoul (서울지역 실버고객들의 외식식습관과 소비행동 속성에 관한 연구)

  • This study concentrated on the dining out consumption behaviors, dining out selection attributes, and changes in eating habits of silver generation. Total 216 residents in metropolitan area were employed for statistical analysing. The results are as follows. First, as the result of t-test and ANOVA showed that female and higher academic background tended to regularly take high level of fruits, vegetables, meat, and fish eating habits. These results identified that dining out culture and dietary lifestyle are closely linked. Second, as the result of difference in dining out consumption attitudes on eating habit of silver generation, consumers who have better eating behaviors tended to consider the physical environment, variety of menu, and service quality when they choose a restaurant. Third, as the result of analysis on changes in dining out consumption behavior based on eating behavior of silver consumers, groups differences were found from only the source for information on dining out business and standard variable in selection of dining out business. Fourth, physical environment, variety of menu, business quality, and service were indicated as significant selection attributes of dining out among silver peoples. Fifth, dining out consumption behaviors of silver consumers were developed through newspapers, magazines, and previous visiting experiences. In conclusion, the results of present study showed that silver consumers tend to select a restaurant based on word-of-mouth and various factors related to experiences. Hence, various promotional activities are necessary for the business succession.

  • For a thorough train control, the precise train position detection is necessarily required. The widely used current way for train position detection is the one of using track circuits. The track circuit has a simple structure, and has a high level of reliability. However trains can be detected only on track circuits, which have to be installed on all ground sections, and much amount of cost for its installation and maintenance is needed. In addition, for the track circuit, only discontinuous position detection is possible because of the features of the closed circuit loop configuration. As the recent advances in telecommunication technologies and high-tech vehicle-based control equipments, for the train position detection, the method to detect positions directly from on trains is being studied. Vehicle-based position detection method is to estimate train positions, speed, timing data continuously, and to use them as the control information. In this paper, the features of GPS navigation and DR navigation are analyzed, and the navigation filters are designed by constructing vehicle-based train position detection method by combining GPS navigation and DR navigation for their complementary cooperation, and by using kalman filter. The position estimation performance of the proposed method is also confirmed by simulations.

  • The 165 collections originated from domestic and foreign countries were tested to evaluate the fatty acid composition of sesame for using as a basic research for oil quality improvement. The Korean and American varieties were lower content in saturated fatty acid and higher especially in unsaturated fatty acids (Oleic and Linoleic acid) than those of other regions. Varieties from temperate areas were higher in unsaturated fatty acid than that of varieties from tropical areas. On the other hand, the varieties which were late matured and had yellow seed coat color and set three capsules showed higher in unsaturated fatty acids than those of early matured, white seed coat and one capsules. Since there was significantly negative correlation between unsaturated fatty acid and saturated fatty acid contents, it was possible to improve the fatty acid composition of sesame.

  • It appears that the rapid advance in technology has allowed to broaden the variety of rail systems technology, thereby fostering new business opportunity in rail industry. The direction of rail systems operations is mainly two fold. In one direction, long distance operations between mega cities are pursued with help of high speed trains under development. In the other case, relatively short distance operations for covering intra-city or suburban area are becoming popular. A good example of the latter case is light rail transit (LRT) systems. Due to the short distance operation, it is thus expected that both the development and operation cost for LRT systems be reduced to some extent. The cost reduction desired in there can be gained by scaling down the sizes of both the trains and stations as compared to those of normal rail systems. However, it is not well known how the LRT stations can be scaled down. The objective of this paper is to study on how to slim down the stations (particularly, the functions room) of LRT systems. To achieve the objective, an approach is studied based on a modified method of design structure matrix (DSM). Specifically, using the enhanced DSM method, an integrated architecture is developed for the functions room, in which equipments are housed to perform the functions of electricity, signaling, and communication for LRT stations. The use of the result indicates that the desired reduction can be obtained with the approach taken in the paper.

The Effects of Alcohol on Psychomotor Skill and Driving Behaviors (알코올이 정신운동 및 운전행태에 미치는 영향)

  • In Korea, 28,641 cases of traffic accidents were caused by drunk driving in 2010. These statistics accounted for 12.62% of total number of traffic accidents. Moreover, the percentages of deaths and injuries from them were nearly 15% of those from whole traffic accidents. While police has emphasized enforcement efforts in order to reduce drunk driving, culture generous to drunk driving in addition to the absence of an appropriate intervention system for habitual drunk drivers have contributed to the increasing number of the drunk driving accidents in Korea. This study examined specific behavioral changes in drunk driving by comparing drivers' behavior pattern in non-alcoholic condition to those in alcoholic condition, using a psychomotor test and a driving simulator. In the psychomotor test measuring participants' reactions to the target stimulus, it was revealed that participants' correct responses were decreased, false responses were increased, and no responses also were increased after drinking. Furthermore, in the driving simulator performance after drinking, not only driving speed was faster but also the deviation of an accelerator pedal pressure and of the vehicle's lateral position were much increased. These results indicated that alcohol consumption would impair visio-cognitive ability and deteriorate driving safety. Finally, the implications and limitations of our findings and suggestions for the future research were discussed.

Application of an Unsteady River Water Quality Model for the Analysis of Reservoir Flushing Effect on Downstream Water Quality (저수지 플러싱 방류 효과분석을 위한 비정상상태 하천수질모형의 적용)

  • Since the self-purification capacity of rivers in Korea is significantly controlled by environmental maintenance flow supplied by upstream reservoirs during drought season, it is obviously important to operate the river and reservoir systems considering not only water quantity aspect but also conservation of downstream water quality and ecosystem. In this study, an unsteady river water quality model KORIVl- WIN was developed as a tool for evaluating the impact. of reservoir operations on the downstream water quality. The model parameters were calibrated and verified using field data obtained in Geum River on September and October of 2002, respectively. Intensive data sampling was performed on November 22, 2003 to investigate the effect of a short-term flushing discharge of Daecheong Reservoir, which increased outflow from 30 $m^3$/s to 200 $m^3$/s for 6 hours, on downstream water quality. The model performance was evaluated by comparing simulated results with observed data including hydraulics, biochemical oxygen demand(BOD$_{5}$), nitrogen and phosphorus species during the flushing event. It showed very good performance in predicting the travel time of flushing flow and water quality variations of dissolved forms of nitrogen and phosphorus species, while revealed large deviations for BOD$_{5}$ possibly due to missing the effect of organic matters resuspension from river bottom sediment during the wave front passage.

From Multivalent Mediality to Cross-Sector Synergy: The Archetypal Function of Dramatized Blockbuster Ballad Music Videos in Hallyu Entertainment (한류 컨텐츠의 원형으로서의 서사적 블록버스터 발라드 뮤직 비디오 고찰)

  • The rise of Hallyu (Korean Wave) has generated a treasury of historiographic and cultural inquiries into the phenomenal success of South Korea's media entertainment industry. Whereas the majority of such studies focus on TV dramas and popular music, there is a medium, or rather a hybrid sub-genre within the medium category of short films, that must be reexamined and thus appreciated as the archetypal predecessor of popular Hallyu contents: music videos. The rapidly changing social, political, and economic climate in the mid- to late 1990s called for content that would grasp the attention of a younger, increasingly mobile population with diversified interests and routines that no longer guaranteed fixed-time viewership. Meanwhile, the advent of cable TV channels and high-speed internet service ensured greater temporal and infrastructural accessibility. The media entertainment industry's response to the new opportunities and challenges arising from these sudden growths in the scale, range, connectivity, and mobility of consumer demographics was synergetic cross-sector collaboration in the form of dramatized blockbuster music videos, which combined two popular and lucrative genres: trendy dramas and ballad music. In this essay, by relocating Hallyu's archetypal medium/genre, I claim that increasing upward and sideways mobility across sectors not only inspired new production but also reconfigured the very concept, form, and impact of media-driven cultural imaginary in South Korea.

사학연금 실업급여를 대비한 재해보상급여 활용방안 연구

  • 본 연구의 목적은 폐교로 인해 퇴직한 사립학교 교직원을 대상으로 사학연금의 재해보상기금을 활용하여 실업급여를 제공하는 방안을 모색하는데 있다. 이를 위해 먼저 폐교 퇴직 교직원 현황 및 사학연금에서 폐교로 인한 퇴직 시 연금 지급규정, 재해보상 관련 쟁점, 고용보험 임의가입방안 관련 쟁점 등에 대해 고찰하였다. 다음으로 폐교로 인한 퇴직 교직원에 대한 정책방안들로 현행안, 재해보상기금을 활용한 구직급여 제공방안, 고용보험 임의가입안에 대한 재정추계를 실시하였다. 주요 분석결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 불과 5년 뒤인 2024학년도부터는 대입가능자원이 대학입학정원을 크게 밑돌 것으로 전망되고 이로 인해 대학의 통·폐합과 구조조정 등이 발생하여 현재보다 훨씬 더 많은 대학이 폐교될 것으로 예상된다. 둘째, 현행 사학연금법 상연금지급개시연령은 65세이나, 공무원연금법을 준용하고 있는 사학연금에서 폐교로 인해 퇴직하는 경우 퇴직 때부터 5년이 경과한 때 연금을 지급하는 규정으로 인해 여러 문제점들이 발생하고 있다. 셋째, 폐교로 인한 비자발적 퇴직 교직원의 소득활동 중단에 따른 소득 대체 및 생활안정을 위한 방안마련이 시급하다. 넷째, 산재보험과 공무원연금·군인연금 등 공적 재해보상제도들은 모두 업무상 또는 공무상 사고나 질병으로 부상·질병·장해·사망이 발생하면 재해로 정의하고 있어 사학연금에서 폐교를 재해로 포함시키는 것은 적합하지 않으며, 실업에 대응하는 사회보장제도인 고용보험에 포함시키는 것이 보다 타당할 것으로 보인다. 다섯째, 사립학교 교직원에 대한 고용보험적용 여부를 논의하기 위해서는 대학교수의 법적 지위와 근로기준법의 적용가능성이 중요한데, 향후 대법원이 대학교수를 근로기준법상 근로자로 판단한다면 사학 교직원의 고용보험 가입도 가능하게 될 것이다. 여섯째, 사학연금가입자들을 위한 고용보험 도입이 바람직하나, 이것이 단기간 내에 실행되기 어렵다면 고려 가능한 대안으로 공무원연금과는 다른 사학 교직원 직무에서 발생하는 재해의 특성을 고려하여 사학재해보상제도에서 폐교로 인한 퇴직을 재해보상에 포함시키고 구직급여를 제공하는 방안을 검토해 볼 수 있다. 또한 재정추계결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 현재 폐교로 인한 퇴직 시 제공되는 연금 대신에 재해보상기금으로 구직급여를 제공할 경우 사학연금기금에 재정적으로 상당히 긍정적 효과가 있을 것으로 예상된다. 둘째, 폐교로 인한 2018년 현재 연금수급자(285명)의 예상 연금급여액 추계에 의하면 2050년까지 누적해서 볼 경우, 재해보상기금을 활용하여 구직급여를 제공하는 방안이 폐교로 인한 퇴직 시 연금을 지급하는 현행안보다 2018년 현재가치로 123억 원 정도 유리한 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 현재 수급자와 미래 수급자의 예상 연금급여액 추계에 의하면 2028년까지 누적해서 볼 경우, 재해보상기금을 활용하여 구직급여를 제공하는 방안이 현행안보다 2018년 현재가치로 747억 원 정도 재정적으로 유리한 것으로 나타났다.

Consumers' Perception of Intelligent Vehicle (지능형 자동차에 대한 소비자의 인식 유형 연구)

  • As the intelligent vehicle market continues to develop relevant technologies and services for consumers, it is necessary to understand the characteristics of potential consumers. The purpose of this study is to identify and understand the types of potential consumers of intelligent vehicle using the Q-methodology. A Q-frame was constructed using thirty six statements from intelligent vehicle related literature concerning core technology, technology acceptance and personal consumption value, legal system and policy and social awareness. Q-sorting and in-depth interviews were conducted using thirty nine P-samples snowballed. Analysis produced four types of potential consumers for intelligent vehicle: Smart Car Consumer, Reasonable Consumer, Safety Car Consumer, and Smart Device Consumer. Smart Car Consumer value the vehicle capability of intelligent vehicle as most important while Reasonable Consumer focus upon the economics of intelligent vehicle. Safety Car Consumer recognize the safety of intelligent vehicle as most important while Smart Device Consumer highly value the IT functions provided by intelligent vehicles. Across these four different types of consumers, preventing injuries of intelligent vehicle drivers turned out to be the most common critical factor in assessing intelligent vehicle. Implications for the intelligent vehicle market is discussed at the end with further studies needed.
