The purpose of this study was to examine the state of parent education experienced by parents and the state of child education at home relation to infant/preschooler abuse prevention. The subjects in this study were 302 selected parents who resided in I city and whose children were in infancy or early childhood. A survey was conducted, and frequency analysis or chi-square test was carried out after their answer sheets were gathered. The findings of the study were as follows: As for the state of parent education, the parents who received education related to infant/ preschooler abuse prevention accounted for 12.6 percent, and the parents who were taught about all the four types of abuse outnumbered the others who weren't. The parents received that education at institutions for early childhood education by experts in child abuse and early childhood education, and they replied they were satisfied with that education. As for the state of child education, the parents who replied they provided abuse prevention education for their children at home accounted for 25.2 percent, and they answered they taught about physical abuse and how to cope with abuse. They responded they started to conduct this education in their homes when their children were in infancy, and they did it frequently in daily life mainly through conversations. They told it's difficult for them to offer this education at home due to a shortage of abuse-related materials. And whether they offered that education for their children or not at home was significantly different according to whether they received parent education or not. Given the findings of the study, the necessity of the development of manuals for abuse prevention education that can easily be used at home without any modifications was suggested, and education on neglect and the revitalization of publicity are required as well.

The purpose of this study was to analyze the parent-related factors affecting obesity and overweight in school-aged children. The subjects of this study were 408 students of 4th~6th grade and their parents and examined the degree of obesity, obesity-related characteristics, eating habits and exercise habits of children and their parents. The data were analyzed using $x^2-test$, t-test, ANOVA and multiple logistic regression analysis. The results of this study were as follows: father's BMI OR=1.265(95% CI: 1.133-1.412, p<.001), mother's BMI OR=1.214(95% CI: 1.077-1.368, CI: 1.113-1.725, p= .001), the child's eating habit OR=0.953(95% CI: .909- .998, p= .042), the TV watching time OR=1.385(95% CI: 1.113-1.725, p= .004), the economic state OR=0.132(95% CI: .026- .676, p= .015) were factors related affecting obesity and overweight in school-aged children. Children's obesity was influenced by parent's genetic factors, eating habits and living environment factors. Therefore, it is important to motivate the children as well as the their parents and induce the active participation of the program in order to manage the child's obesity.

The purpose of this study was to develop and evaluate the effectiveness of an educational program, based on the family life education theory and the needs of the adolescents, for the improvement of the relationship between adolescents and their parents. Aimed to be applicable in the actual school environment, the program was practiced and successfully proved its effectiveness. Named 'Parents and I : Is It Good This Way? Over the Generation Gap', the program is composed of themes such as 'Understanding the importance of the parent-child relationship', 'Understanding parents', and 'Having friendly communication with parents', and was practiced five times, once every week, at H girls' high school located in Seoul. An evaluation was done on adolescents to see the effectiveness of the parent-child relationship improvement program: there was a meaningful distinction between the results of the pre-test and the post-test. The participants responded that they could have a chance to understand their mid-aged parents and to express their feelings and thoughts, and evaluated that the anger-control program was a training for them to express their emotions in a rational way.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between parenting behaviors and parental insights by examining the effects of parental insights in addition to the main variables found to explain parenting behaviors through previous studies. In addition to the parental insight, this study examined the influence of past childhood experiences(perceived parenting behavior, family of origin' health) and parenting experience (marital satisfaction, parental role satisfaction) in current life. As a result of hierarchical regression analysis of 202 mothers of middle school students, all of the input variables were found to explain the parenting behavior significantly. In particular, parental insight was proved to have significant explanatory power on affection, rejection, regulation, and independence-oriented behavior among the sub-factors of parenting behavior except overprotective. Finally, the implications of this study and future research directions were discussed.
The purpose of this study is to explore the selection attributes for parents of children with language disability when choosing a clinic. The data collection was carried out in 3 steps: the preliminary survey, first open survey and second survey in AHP(Analytic Hierarchy Process). The subjects of were 252 in total. The results were as follows: First, The order of priority attributes in superior categories for parents of children with language disability when selecting a clinic were 'therapist-related attributes', 'program-related attributes' and 'physical-related attributes' in turn. The top 5 priority attributes in subcategories were 'therapist's academic background and major', 'ability to make a rapport', 'clinical experience and qualification of therapist', 'kindness and confidence' and 'counseling program for parents'. Second, The parents of preschoolers age 6 and younger chose 'clinical experience and qualification of therapist', 'counseling program for parents' and 'learning materials' for the most priority attributes, whereas the parents of students age from 7 to 12, considered 'therapist's academic background and major', 'clinical fee' and 'distance transport parking' more importantly to select a clinic. The results of this study provided preliminary data for successful planning of speech and language therapy.
This study analyses young adults'perceptions of the meanings and motivations of parenthood. It also verifies the relationship between the meanings and motivations of parenthood by young adults. The sample population included 311 university students. Our findings show that young adults perceived parenthood variously as a personal lifestyle, and as an statement of social maturation and sound mind and of marital satisfaction. There were no differences by gender in their perceptions on the meaning of parenthood. As for the motivation to become parents, strengthening biological family ties, traditional norms, emotional and altruistic reasons, deepening marital bonds, and perpetuating one's self through the passing on of genes. Among these, altruistic-emotional motivation and marital cohesion were stronger than other motivations. Finally, we provide recommendations for future research.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the formation of parental beliefs. For this study, 154 unmarried university students were asked to fill in a packet of survey questionnaire about parental beliefs, the internal representation of childhood, and communication with their parents. Data collected were analyzed using correlation and multiple regression by SPSS PC program. This research was performed to investigate mother's influence on their children's dietary life. We surveyed 312 elementary school students and their mothers in kyungpook province, and analyzed the responses using SAS 8.0 statistical program. The results showed that mothers' consuming behavior of processed foods was closely related to their children's dietary life. In detail, mother's preference, eating frequency, positive recognition on processed foods negatively affect on their children's dietary habit and snacking behavior. Also, the children whose mother has higher preference on processed foods showed significantly higher preference on cereals(p<0.05), fast foods(p<0.001), and carbonated beverages(p<0.001). Interestingly, mother's influence was stronger on children's eating frequency than preference of processed foods. The children whose mother has higher preference and eating frequency of processed foods ate significantly less vegetables(p<0.001), milk products(p<0.05), and more cereals(p<0.001), noodles(p<0.001), confectionary(p<0.001), fast foods(p<0.01), carbonated beverages(p<0.01). These results show that mothers' consuming behavior of processed foods significantly influences on their children's dietary life, which suggests the importance of mother's reasonable consuming attitude and behavior on dietary life. To promote children's healthy dietary life, therefore, the education programs for parent and children should be developed and practically used at school.
