Purpose: The purpose of this study was to provide useful information for evaluating the sensory function of patients with strabismus by identifying the distribution of anomalous retinal correspondence (ARC) and normal retinal correspondence (NRC) by the degree of refractive errors and deviation angles. Methods: Objective refraction (AR/K, Cannon RK-F1, Japan) and subjective refraction tests were performed on 56 subjects (male: 26, female: 30) by an examiner; objective deviation angle was measured using synoptophore (OCULUS Synoptophore, Germany) with subject' eyes fully corrected for distance, and then subjective deviation angle was measured. Results: In all groups with refractive errors, the number of ARC was larger than that of NRC(67%). Particularly, it was largest in groups with myopia (71%), and in all groups, the number of UARC was larger than that of HARC. In groups with anisometropia, although the numbers of NRC and ARC were same, the number of UARC was larger than that of HARC as in other groups. In the distribution of NRC and ARC by deviation angle, the number of NRC was larger than that of ARC (46%) only at microstrabismus (0 ~ ${\pm}10{\triangle}$). Conclusions: Normal retinal correspondence were the most emmetropia in the retinal response were much higher than in the more hyperopia than the retinal correspondence were more myopia. In addition, the smaller the angle of retinal correspondence Normal over many, but overall, respectively.
The purpose of this research was to look at whether small group drawing activities can be applied to learning content that combine mathematics and art, by analyzing the changes in $10^{th}$ grade students' interests in mathematics and particular features of their strategic thinking that were reflected in small group drawing activities using graphs and inequations. The results of the study are as follows: 1. The small group drawing activity using graphs and inequations demonstrated that students interests in mathematics could experience positive changes. 2. The small group drawing activity using graphs and inequations was effective in stimulating the students' strategic thinking skills, which are higher level thinking activities necessary for creating problem solving. As the students went through the whole process of accomplishing a complete goal, the students engaged in integrated thinking activities that brought understandings of basic graphs and inequations together, and were also found to use such higher level thinking functions needed in achieving creative problem solving such as critical thinking, flexible thinking, development-oriented thinking, and inferential thinking. 3. The small group drawing activity using graphs and in equations could be expected to constitute learning content that integrate mathematics and art, and is an effective solution in boosting students' strengths in mathematics by way of activities that consider students' unique cognitive and qualitative peculiarities and through integration with art.
In this paper, we address an efficient processing scheme for k-nearest neighbor queries to retrieve k static objects in road network databases. Existing methods cannot expect a query processing speed-up by index structures in road network databases, since it is impossible to build an index by the network distance, which cannot meet the triangular inequality requirement, essential for index creation, but only possible in a totally ordered set. Thus, these previous methods suffer from a serious performance degradation in query processing. Another method using pre-computed network distances also suffers from a serious storage overhead to maintain a huge amount of pre-computed network distances. To solve these performance and storage problems at the same time, this paper proposes a novel approach that creates an index for moving objects by approximating their network distances and efficiently processes k-nearest neighbor queries by means of the approximate index. For this approach, we proposed a systematic way of mapping each moving object on a road network into the corresponding absolute position in the m-dimensional space. To meet the triangular inequality this paper proposes a new notion of average network distance, and uses FastMap to map moving objects to their corresponding points in the m-dimensional space. After then, we present an approximate indexing algorithm to build an R*-tree, a multidimensional index, on the m-dimensional points of moving objects. The proposed scheme presents a query processing algorithm capable of efficiently evaluating k-nearest neighbor queries by finding k-nearest points (i.e., k-nearest moving objects) from the m-dimensional index. Finally, a variety of extensive experiments verifies the performance enhancement of the proposed approach by performing especially for the real-life road network databases.
The reinforced soil retaining wall structures of serious types with environmental are widely expanding more and more in Korea, which divided conventional type's reinforced soil retaining wall on segmental retaining wall. The causes of most crack occurred at block in reinforced soil retaining wall structure caused by the differential settlement of foundation. It is difference of settlement for significant factor that with overall slope stability. In this study, design assessment of foundation bearing capacity related to differential settlement of foundation ground was considered. And, also, through case study, the countermeasure methods and its application were suggested that the bearing capacity of foundation had to stabilize. The foundation ground in charge of bearing capacity should be affected by the resisting force of sliding, because the foundation parts of reinforced soil retaining wall were belongs to potential slope sliding area in overall stabilizing including retaining wall structures. Therefore, the analyzing or the designing of bearing capacity for foundation should be considered control capacity on the overall slope sliding.
The stability condition of linear discrete interval systems with a time-varying delay time is considered. The considered system has interval system matrices for both non-delayed and delayed states with time-varying delay time within given interval values. The proposed condition is derived by using Lyapunov stability theory and expressed by very simple inequality. Compared to previous results, the stability issue on the interval systems is expanded to time-varying delay. Furthermore, the new condition can imply the existing results on the time-invariant case and show the relation between interval time-varying delay time and stability of the system. The proposed condition can be applied to find the stability bound of the discrete interval system. Some numerical examples are given to show the effectiveness of the new condition and comparisons with the previously reported results are also presented.

The number of occurrence of differential settlement and track irregularity at track transition zone recently comes to increase, which leads to frequent maintenance activities that have an impact on train operation. Such track transition zone damages are attributed to the change of mechanical properties of fill materials due to environmental factors such as rainfall and freeze, and thaw. Consequently, this study attempts to establish the soil water characteristic curve (SWCC) of fill materials, and conduct seepage analysis to assess the distribution of degree of saturation (DOS) for track transition zone in case of rainfall. The SWCC of fill materials was successfully obtained using filter paper test method. The results of seepage analysis revealed that rainfall intensity, the slope of backfill, backfill condition (fill or cut), and SWCC are significantly influential in controlling the distribution of DOS.
The successful treatment of the extensively traumatized foot warrants reconstruction utilizing tissue that will provide adequate coverage, is resistant to infection, thin enough to conform to the contours of the foot as well as durable to constant frictional movement and weight bearing. Currently, free flaps offer the best means in achieving these difficult and sometimes contradictory goals. We treated twenty-one patients suffering from extensive soft tissue loss of the foot due to trauma, electric burn or postburn sequelae with free flaps. A fasciocutaneous, musculocutaneous or muscle flap with skin grafting was used based on the location, volume of tissue required, and the functional anatomical requirement of the injured region. The follow-up duration averaged twenty-nine months. From our group of patients, we believe that the muscle free flap with skin grafting offers the most favorable outcome.

This study was carried out to provide basic data to be necessary for the selection of an energy recovery process based on the characteristics of municipal solid wastes(MSW). The samples were collected at Kangdong-Ku in Seoul and conducted ultimate and proximate analyses. Laboratory scale anaerobic digesters were operated to determine the non biodegradable fractions of the wastes. The results indicated that carbon and hydrogen contents, and lower heating values could be calculated from the volatile contents of MSW by the following equations : C = 0.57 VS, H =0.084 VS, and HL=49.5 VS-(6-0.045VS) W. Nonbiodegradable fractions were respectively 58.9% of volatile matters and 77.7% of MSW. Incineration and refuse derived fuel(RDF) processes appeared to be the most efficient processes in terms of weight reduction and energy recovery, But determining the energy recovery processes, the fluctuations of heating values of MSW throughout a year and available landfill site and secondary pollution should be considered.

This paper deals with the linear matrix inequality (LMI) design procedures for multi-objective Η$_2$/Η$_{\infty}$ controllers with pole-placement constraints for an inverted pendulum system modeled as convex polytopes to ensure the stabilizing regulator and tracking performances. Polytopic models with multiple linear time-invariant models linearized at some operating points are derived to design controllers overcoming the conservativeness such as a controller may have when it is designed for a model linearized at a single operating point. Multi-objective controllers are designed for polytopic models by the LMT design technique with convex algorithms. It is observed that the inverted pendulum controlled by any controller designed for each polytopic model is stabilizingly restored to the vertical angle position for initial values of larger tilt anlges.

This study investigated the occurrences, causes, and mitigation of the recent ground subsidence and underground cavity generation events in Korea. Two main causes of ground subsidence are (1) the soil erosion by seepage during tunneling and earth excavation and (2) the damage of underground pipes. The main cause of the soil erosion during tunneling was the uncontrolled groundwater flow. Especially, when excavating soft grounds using a tunnel boring machine (TBM), the ground near TBM operation halt points were found to be the most vulnerable to failure. The damage of underground pipes was mainly caused by poor construction, material deterioration, and differential settlement in soft soils. The ground subsidence during tunneling and earth excavation can be managed by monitoring the outflow of groundwater and eroded soils in construction sites. It is expected that the ground subsidence by the underground pipe damage can be managed or mitigated by life cycle analysis and maintenance of the buried pipes, and by controlling the earth pressure distribution or increasing the bearing capacity at the upper ground of the buried pipes.
