A Study on the Autofrettage Analysis in Single and Compound Cylinders (단일 및 복합실린더에서 자긴가공 해석에 관한 연구)

  • In manufacturing aircraft, safety and lightness of structure are important factors. Utilizing autofrettage technique, these benefits can be obtained. This technique is most frequently applied to a single cylinder. However, the Bauschinger effect reduces the benefits of autofrettage process Therefore, there is increasing interest in the use of compound cylinder that combine shrink fit and autofrettage. In this paper, single and compound cylinders that has same geometry were considered. It was found that compound cylinder which was autofrettaged has lower tangential hoop stress and plastic strain than single cylinder at bore. This means a reduction in the impact of the Bauschinger effect after shrink-fitting which produces the beneficial bore hoop stress.

  • To increase the performance of thick-walled cylinders recently their length is continually enlarged. For that reason it is important to reduce weight of the thick-walled cylinders. In this paper the FE models to predict and estimate effects on the composite tapes were created with MSC.Nastran/Patran v.2005. First of all a autofrettage method was applied to the 2D model of the AISI4340 cylinder reduced the thick. And then the comparison of the numerical results with analysis results showed and verified by using T300/5208, IM7/PETI5, IM7/8552 tapes. Those are predicted to the effects of the angle of the composite tapes and elastic modulus according to the composite properties.

  • It is useful to have a quick analysis program in early design process for feasibility studies of composite cylinder because it takes long time and is not cost effective by commercial programs. In this paper, a GUI program is developed to calculate the stress distribution in a fast manner with the properties, the orientation angle and the stacking sequence of composite material using LabVIEW. The stress distributions of an autofrettaged cylinder and a composite cylinder with internal pressure are compared with the results by MSC Nastran/patran. The stress distribution of steel/composite cylinder is compared with the values of existing studies, and is proved. Furthermore, by calculating the stress distribution of an autofrettaged steel/composite cylinder, the stress distribution is estimated, and the program will be useful in an early design phase for feasibility studies.

  • This paper describes the design of dual-structured and thick-walled cylinder made of composites and special steel. The structure of special steel and composites reduce the weight of a product maintaining its property which is proper to the characteristics. Hence they are used in the fields, such as various ground weapons, aerospace and sports industries, where high elasticity and low weight are required. Thus in this study, the analysis was conducted to find the most proper composite application method changing its types and angle of laminates for the design. Through the comparison of the results, we suggest the method for composite application which is the most appropriate to the designing purpose of this study.

  • 수중 식생, 해양 구조물과 같은 복합 구조에 대하여 본 연구에서는 각각의 구조물을 원형 실린더로 가정하고, 구조물 다발 하나를 원형 실린더 패치로 가정하였다. 패치들의 배열을 계산할시 기존의 방법으로는 많은 격자가 필요하기 때문에 좀 더 효율적으로 외력의 특성을 파악할 방법을 살펴보았다. 계산 영역 내에서 평균화된 정보들을 통해서 이용하여 항력계수와 양력계수와 속도, 압력의 관계를 알아내는 모델링 방법을 해보았다.

  • The propagation of coherent time-harmonic elastic SH waves in a medium with random distribution of cylindrical inclusions is studied for characterizing the dynamic elastic modulus and the attenuation property of fiber-reinforced composite materials. A multiple scattering theory using the single scattering coefficients in conjunction with the Lax's quasicrystalline approximation is derived and from which the dispersion relation for such medium is obtained. The pair-correlation functions between the cylinders which are needed to formulate the multiple scattering interaction between the cylinders are obtained by Monte Carlo simulation method.From the numerically calculated complex wavenumbers, the propagation speed of the average wave, the coherent attenuation coefficient and the effective shear modulus are presented as functions of frequency and area density.

  • 2단 또는 3단형으로 설계되고 있는 KSLV-I 발사체의 단연결부는 직경의 변화에 따라 원뿔대(Truncated cone) 구조물이 필요하다. 원뿔대형 구조물이 발사체의 외피일 경우에는 일반적인 실린더형 동체와는 다르게 공력에 의한 버페팅(buffeting)과 공력가열 등이 추가적인 설계인자로 고려되어야 한다. 복합재료 샌드위치 구조물은 외피의 굽힘 강성이 크고, 일체성형으로 실린더형 혹은 원뿔대형 구좁물을 쉽게 제작할 수 있어 단연결부에 적용되고 있다. 또한 위성어댑터(Payload Adapter)등에도 사용되어 우주발사체에는 매우 일반적인 구조물이다. 복합재료 샌드위치 구조물의 제작과 정적시험을 통하여 구조 특성을 알아보았다. 일체형 샌드위치 구조물의 효율을 높이기 위해서는 프레임과의 체결부를 효율적으로 설계하여야 하며 하중의 종류에 따라서 면재의 적층각도가 중요함을 알 수 있었다.

  • 섬유강화 복합재료의 동탄성계수와 감쇠특성을 규명하기 위하여 랜덤하게 분포된 무한 실린더 형상의 산란체를 가진 매질내에서, 조화운동을 하는 압축 및 SV탄성파의 전파에 관하여 연구하였다. 단일 실린더에 대한 산란계수로부터 La의 준결정근사법을 이용하여 다중산란에 관한 이론을 유도하였고, 매질내에서의 파동전파 특성을 내포하는 분산관계식을 얻었다. 수치적으로 분산관계식의 해를 구함으로써 2 차원 유효체적강성, 횡방향 유효전단강성 및 각 파동의 전파에 따른 감쇠계수를 주파수와 체적비의 함수로서 제시하였다.

  • 섬유강화 복합재료의 동탄성계수와 감쇠특성을 규명하기 위하여 랜덤하게 분포된 무한 실린더 형상의 산란체를 가진 점탄성 매질내에서 , 축방향으로 분극되어 조화 운동을 하는 탄성파의 전파에 관하여 연구하였다. 다중 산란에 관한 이론으 이용하여 매질내에서의 파동전파 특성을 내포하는 분산관계식을 얻었다. 다중산란에 의한 실린더간의 상호작용을 수식화하기위하여 필요한 실린더의 쌍분포함수는 몬테카를로 모의 실험을 이용하여 구하였다. 수치적으로 구한 감쇠계수 및 유효전단강성을 주파수와 체적율의 함수로 제시하였다. 또한 감쇠계수의 주파수에 따른 변화에 있어서, 저주파에서는 매질의 점탄성 손실이 지배적이며, 고주파수로 갈수록 다중산란에 의한 손실이 지배적인 것으로 나타났다.

  • Autofrettage process is used for internal forming and sizing of cylinder designed to withstand high internal pressures. Once the tube is autofrettaged, it needs to be machined to its final dimensions both at the bore and its outer surface. This paper presents an analytical analysis and numerical analysis of machined compound cylinder using finite element code, ANSYS10.0. An analytical model for predicting the level of autofrettage following either inner, outer, or combined machining of the compound cylinder is developed for the autofrettage residual stress field is simulated by an autofrettaged pressure. The autofrettaged pressures are obtained by using trying-error method. As autofrettage percentage is 20 % and 40 %, the numerical results are found to be in almost agreement with the analytical ones. However, as autofrettage percentage is 60 %, the numerical results have a little difference with the analytical ones.
