Since the Gifted and Talented Education Promotion Law was enacted 15 years ago, in Korea, gifted education in Korea has continued rapid and quantitative growth. The number of gifted classes or institutes for the gifted have increased, as well as the number of gifted education teachers increasing their participation in professional development training and educational activities. However after 2014, gifted education is somewhat shrinking. Due to the controversy of private education and expansion of social welfare in Korea, administrative and financial support for gifted education is being reduced. This study reviewed the gifted education policies promoted by successive governments and analyzed the relationship between politics and support for gifted education efforts by the government. In addition, the phenomenon of the recently shrinking gifted education in Korean society was analyzed in various aspects. These aspects include: decreasing quantitative growth due to the weakening of administrative and financial support from central and local governments on gifted education, regulations on suppressing private education, social inequality to gifted education access, and lack of solidarity in the gifted education scholastic community. Based on this analysis of gifted phenomenon, ways of developing the ideological and practical aspects of future-oriented gifted education were suggested. In the ideological dimension, it was emphasized that gifted education must move away from insularity and the adhesive perspective of Korean society on the concept of giftedness, the concept of intelligence and the recognition of the legitimacy of gifted education. On the other hand, in the practical dimension, the following points were identified: the collection of empirical data on the economic impact of gifted education, gifted education amendment of the statutes, adaptation of the gifted education program with gifted identification, diversification of gifted education service system, and actively promoting new research topics in relation to the Gifted and Talented Education.
The purpose of this research was to identify the effects of factors determining life satisfaction (LS) of local residents in chungbuk province. After reviewing the literature, this research selected and developed the 9 categories and specific indicators of LS. This research had obtained data through a face to face investigation using questionnaire, which surveyed 1,619 residents at 11 local governments in chungbuk province. This research analyzed the data using descriptive statistical methods and multiple linear regression method. This research found that 1) the level of overall LS had 4.433 points out of 7, the level of residential environment satisfaction had highest point (4.911), but the level of leisure culture satisfaction had lowest point (4.155), 2) in multiple regression analysis, The effect of income and consumption level on LS was highest. The degree of labor and life-social services was important factor to increase LS. The results of this study were expected to provide many implications for implementing policies to improve LS in the country and local governments.

This study investigated the performance factors for entry into the labor market of 4 - year college graduates using KEEP data and to determine how the labor market performance is related to the training institutions. The labor market performance is termed as 1) labor market entry time, 2) employment type, and 3) wage. Correspondence analysis was carried out with a nominal variable indicating the characteristics of a training institute, in which the respondents were trained for employment, and the relationship between the two was expressed in a more visible way. First, as a result of analyzing the first job transition period, the shortest training institutes were analyzed as public institutes, followed by private institutes and universities. Second, the employment rate of the public institutions is higher than that of private institutes and universities. Second, the employment rate of public institutions is higher than that of private institutes and universities. Third, the wage level of public institutes ranged from wage level 1 to 3, while private institutes had a wage level ranging from 2 to 4. Universities showed a wide range from 1 to 5. Based on these results, this study can analyze the difference in the labor market performance by training institutions when young people enter society.
This study purported to examine the effects of precarious employment and social capital on the changes of self-rated health status among the middle aged and the young-old population in South Korea. The study analyzed 12 year follow-up data generated by the Korean Labor and Income Panel Study(KLIPS 6-17), which included 10532 employed subjects aged 55 to 75. Multi-level growth curve modeling was performed by fixed and random effect models using STATA 13.0 program. Afterwards, Hausman test was performed, which resulted in support of the estimation by fixed effect model. The results showed that a day labor position was significant factor affecting the deteriorated changes of self-rated health status over time. In addition, wage, weekly working hours, and private/relational social capitals were also found to be significant factors affecting the changes of the self-rated health status. The results supported the divergence hypothesis as well as the cumulative advantage theory. Efforts should be made to develop and implement various employment support policies and social service programs to alleviate the health inequality of the employed workers over their middle-aged to young-old period.
Fandom is a meaningful social phenomenon that represents a significant dimension of contemporary Korean youth culture. Previous research, however, has considered fandom as a deviant activity that is negative in nature, and there is scant research on the positive effects of fandom activity. This study examined the effects of off-line and on-line fandom activity participation on adolescents' academic time management capability. Data were collected from three waves (2010, 2012, and 2014) of the Korean Children and Youth Panel Survey (middle school cohort; N=2,206 at baseline). Results from the multi-level growth curve analysis were as follows. First, more than half of the adolescents reported participating in fandom activities, and the majority of them participated in both online and offline activities. Second, adolescents' academic time management capability improved over time. Third, both off-line and on-line fandom activity participation was positively associated with adolescents' academic time management capability at the baseline (first year of middle school). The size of this relationship, however, decreased over time (from middle school to high school). This study presented the importance of appropriate guidance by adults to develop and promote the positive aspects of fandom activity, and highlighted the need for further research that focuses on the positive aspects of fandom activities.
The purpose of this research is to identify the longitudinal reciprocal relationship between family social capital and self-esteem of adolescents. Five waves of panel data from the Korea Youth Panel Survey were employed for this research. Korean Adolescents Policy Research Institute collected the first wave data in 2004 from elementary school children in 4th grade. Autoregressive cross-lagged modeling was performed to analysis the longitudinal reciprocal relationship between family social capital and self-esteem. The major findings were as follows. First, stability coefficient of family social capital and self-esteem showed that both variables were significantly stable over time. Secondly family social capital(t) had statistically significant effect on self-esteem(t+1), whereas self-esteem did not predict family social capital at a statistically significant level. These findings suggest that family social capital and self-esteem is stable overtime, and that obtaining family social capital and establishing positive self-esteem is important during this period in childhood. In addition, the results show that family social capital affects self-esteem, which highlights the importance of family social capital accumulation on the development of adolescent self-esteem.
The purpose of this study was to identify the meaning of performance experienced in the process of practicing at the elderly suicide prevention center. Therefore, the actual results perceived from the subjective viewpoints of the chiefs, staff and service users from the public institutions, which offer the elderly suicide prevention services were examined. The results classified the service provider's view, service users view and multi-dimensional view. The research method is a case study of qualitative research method. The results of the study found that the analysis commonly perceived from the perspectives of both the chiefs and staff from the public institutions offering elderly suicide prevention service were 'the perception of structural obstacles during the process of practicing the services and focused on the achievement of experiencing changes in the service users and the community'. On the other hand, the analysis from the perspective of the service users turned out to be 'focusing on changes in the users'internal perception according to service experiences'. The meaning and essence of the analytical results perceived from each perspective are summarized as follows. First, the analytical results perceived of the chiefs of public institutions offering elderly suicide prevention service were 'the process in which the identification of the institution is rediscovered through the service'. Second, the analytical results perceived by the staff from the institution were 'being acknowledged in the community and organization while experiencing changes in the service users in the process of struggling to survive in such community and organization'. Third, the analytical results perceived by the service users were 'holding on to the lifeline at the edge of a precipice'. Based on the results, political and practical implications of elderly suicide prevention service were discussed.
This study is about the research of recognition for deinstitutionalization and independent living of the disabled living in residential facilities for the people of family. The survey was conducted in October to September 2018 and 810 cases were used in the final analysis. In this study, we confirmed that about half of the families of groups and those who perceived In accordance with the enactment deinstitutionalization were divided into half. and consent to cegislation, local government efforts, independence, consent to deinstitutionalization family perceptions of disagreement of independence were identified as having no low information provided. These results indicate that there was a lack of provision of services or information related to independent living of the disabled living in residential facilities, and it was confirmed that proper information transfer education on policies and services is needed to have accurate understanding and awareness. In addition, the agreement on legislation, local government efforts, Independence, consent to deinstitutionalization were found to have a significant effect on preparation for independent living. Therefore, it was confirmed that systematic information education support are needed to ensure proper recognition of user's family in residential facilities and to ensure healthy independence of users.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the necessity and activation plan of trial work to increase the re-employment of injured industrial workers. This study applied an internet and paper questionnaire method to 1,058 employers listed in the Korea Workers' Compensation and Welfare Services. The employers were asked about their experiences with trial work and their preferences for supports. From September 2018, the survey was conducted for 6 weeks and a total of 201 questionnaires were analyzed. Descriptive analysis and t-tests were applied. The results of the study showed that the trial work system satisfied the employers who participated in it. In order for this system to operate smoothly for injured workers, it is necessary to simplify the system's procedures, increase the amount of the trial work subsidy, and improve the amount of support after the workers convert to full time employment. In order for employers to use the new system, $750 per month will be provided for 8 months when hiring one injured worker. Eighty percent of employers stated that they would hire injured workers if the subsidy and application period are accepted. Future study and suggestions for applying the trial work system for injured industrial workers are also discussed.

The implementation of Daedongbeop of Gyeonggido after throne of Gwanghaegun, the Daedongbeop of Gangwondo afterthrone of Injo, and the Daedongbeop of Chongcheongdo and Chollado after throne of Hyojong were in expectation of new kings the greatest Governing Administrator who tried to improve the hard life of the people, It was possible because there was a great effort. However, after throne of these three kings, the enactment of the Daedongbeop is a major crisis. The difference of the crisis related to enforcement was that the enforcement of the Daedongbeop of the Gwanghaegun and the Injo was carried out immediately after the enforcement decision was made but soon it was put into a crisis of abolishment and the Chungcheongdo and Chollado provincial Daedongbeop encountered extreme opposition before the enforcement and it has been carried on continuously since the end of the abolition crisis. In this study, we examined the efforts of the Governing Administrator who succeeded in the enactment of the Daedongbeop for the peaceful life of the people, with the throne of these three kings and the expectation of the new king. In the case of at the time of Gwanghaegun, Hanbekgyeom, LeeWonik, and Hwangshin, Joeik and LeeWonik at the time of Injo, and Kimyuk at the time of Hyojong were common people who have tried to improve the troubles of the people. They did not focus only on the theoretical interpretation of Neo-Confucianism, but on the basis of the interpretation, they demonstrated the power of the Governing Administrator practicing the right politics for the people in reality. The result is policy formulation and enforcement for the implementation of the Daedongbeop.
