  • The purpose of this study was to examine the impact of psychosocial protective and risk factors on problem drinking among American adolescents. In addition, this study investigated the compensatory and buffering effects of psychosocial protective factors. The sample consisted 4,362 10th graders taken from the Monitoring the Future Study 2002. This study performed the hierarchical regression analysis for data analyses. The main findings provided that friend influence, sensation-seeking, and tolerance of deviance had significant positive relationships with problem drinking as risk factors. This study also revealed that negative perception on drinking, parental bonding, school bonding, and prosocial activity had significant direct impacts in decreasing problem drinking, which explains the compensatory effect of protective factors. Additionally, this study showed that negative perception on drinking had a significant buffering effect moderating friend influence on adolescents' opportunities exposed to problem drinking. The results of this study suggest some practical implications for preventive intervention programs that target adolescent problem drinking.

Master's doctoral and journal degrees from 2005 to 2014, a total of 116 articles side by conducting a meta-analysis suggests a convergence conclusions. The biggest effect size of a nurse burnout protection variable was job variable and the largest effect sized of sub-variable was empathy satisfaction. Based on the Privacy Act, this study developed the construct of Privacy Rights awareness and finds the law's effect on privacy awareness and behavioral change. The study finds that there exists a significant difference in privacy protection behavior according to privacy rights awareness. Independent variables are as follows: Five variables (Perceived vulnerability, Perceived severity, Perceived response effectiveness, Perceived barriers, Privacy Rights awareness) were tested as critical variables influencing Behavioral Intention in PMT model. Privacy awareness had a moderating effect on the relationship between perceived severity and privacy protection behavior. This study would contribute on theoretical expansion of Protection Motivation Theory and also provide practical implications for effective ways to promote behavioral changes.

  • This study aimed to compare job stress and job satisfaction of long-term care staffs caring for demented seniors with rating 3 and physically disabled seniors with rating 1. Survey was conducted upon 212 long-term care staffs in long-term care institutions in Ejungboo, Goyang, and Paju. There were, first of all, statistically significant differences between those groups in the level of overall stress, stress related to service subjects, and stress in service procedures. Regression analyses, secondly, showed that the relationship between job stress and job satisfaction was statistically significant only for long-term care staffs for demented seniors with rating 3. The results suggest that it is necessary to lower the level of stress especially for the staffs caring for demented seniors with rating 3. Furthermore, we need to consider the stress, that the staffs feels in the process of caring for long-term care service beneficiaries, as a important variable for intervention programs to reduce the level of stress among long-term care staffs.

Specifically, the study investigated causal relationships among exposure of media information on Influenza A(H1N1) as an independent variable, psychological protection motivation factors such as perceived severity, vulnerability, response efficacy, & self-efficacy as mediated variables and behavioral intention on personal and public health protection as dependent variables using structure equation model analysis. Self-reported questionnaires were administrated to 460 college students. The result indicated the followings. First, the level of news usage on Influenza A(H1N1) was not statistically significant on influencing behavioral intention toward personal and public health protection. Second, perceived severity, vulnerability, and self-efficacy were significant variables on behavioral intention toward personal health protection whereas perceived vulnerability and response efficacy were significant on public health protection. The function among factors in protection motivation theory is dependent upon whom protected from illness.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate whether there is a moderating effect of protective factors on risk factors in affecting school adjustment of immigrant youths. For this purpose, this study analyzed 69,720 youths who weighed 6,079 children of youths ages 9-24 among the 2015 National Survey of Multicultural Families. Parental relations, self-esteem, Korean language ability, and nationality acquisition, which are protective factors, all had a positive effect on school adjustment. Second, among the three risk factors in the school adjustment of immigrant youths, self-esteem and nationality acquisition variables were analyzed as the protective factors moderating depression, and the protective factors controlling school violence were analyzed as parental relationship, self-esteem, Korean ability and nationality acquisition variables. Based on the results of the analysis, decrease in immigrant youths' depression, coping with academic violence, and development and support of various competency development programs were suggested as major social welfare practices.
