  • This study is aimed to systematically grasp the visual and informative needs of sign system and secure the formativeness sample for standardization model. This study, therefore, will help building the requirements to create design value and secure objectiveness for realization of practical use of the communication design plan, and means transference of the external and internal information system of railroad vehicles for practical use into the standardization model. The pictorial sign based information delivery is a communication process and way gained through vision and perception, so that grasping the formative structure connoted in message is not less than understanding the characteristics of the essence. In this study, I defined the symbolic expressions inherent in TTX sign system to be perceptional action and value norms as general signatures and signifiers.

  • Libraries should offer their services to all users including those who find difficult to access knowledge information without any obstacles or discrimination. Therefore, this study, aiming at providing library services to all users by applying 'Universal Design' to libraries, extracted and presented five components in library services: universal convenience, which allows all users to use libraries; safety of services, which offers safety in library use; user-orientedness, which offers user-oriented library services; user request, which allows library services reflecting the needs of users; and economic feasibility of the services, which provide efficient and economic library services. The proposed five components will play the foundational role in implementing universal design on libraries so that all users can use library services.

  • 디자인 패턴은 새롭게 만들어 지는 것이 아니라 기존의 검증된 지식, 관용법, 원칙들을 체계화한 것이다. 다시 말하면 디자인 패턴은 특정한 문제를 해결하기 위한, 검증된 설계 방법에 이름을 붙인 것이다. 그러므로 적절한 디자인 패턴 사용은 1) 개발자들간의 원활한 의사소통에 도움을 주며, 2) 하급자가 고급기술을 쉽게 익힐 수 있도록 할 수 있다. 3) 또한 사용된 디자인이나 아키텍처를 재사용할 수 있도록 하고, 4) 만들어진 시스템의 유지 보수를 보다 쉽게 할 수 있는 등의 장점을 얻을 수 있다. 반면에 필요하지 않은 곳에 까지 디자인패턴을 사용하게 되면 소프트웨어를 복잡하고, 유지보수도 어렵게 만들 수 있다. 디자인 패턴의 분류는 수 많은 패턴을 비슷한 속성을 지닌 그룹들로 조직화 하는 것이다. 이는 개발자가 특정 문제에 맞는 디자인 패턴을 쉽게 선택 할 수 있도록 도와 줄 뿐만 아니라, 디자인 패턴의 주요특성을 빠르게 이해하고 간파 할 수 있게 한다. 그래서 Beck 이 디자인패턴을 소개한 이후 GoF, Buschmann, Grand, Antoy 등은 디자인 패턴을 단순히 열거를 통해 소개하지 않고, 각자의 기준에 따라 체계적으로 분류하여 패턴을 설명 하고 있다. 본 연구는 객체지향 설계의 근본 개념인 Polymorphism (Inclusion Polymorphism) 과 '객체 지향 소프트웨어 설계 원칙' 그리고 이 근본 원칙들이 UML 클래스 다이어그램에 나타나는 구조적 특정에 의거해 디자인 패 턴 해석을 수행 하였다. 본 연구의 목적은 1) 객체지향의 근본 원칙으로 표현 되는 패턴과 2) 설계자의 전문적 인 Art를 포함하고 있는 패턴으로 분류하는데 있다.3: 재미는 용이성을 통해 채택의도에 정의 영향을 미친다. 가설4: 유용성은 채택의도에 정의 영향을 미친다. 가설5: 용이성은 채택의도에 정의 영향을 미친다. 가설6: 용이성은 유용성에 정의 영향을 미친다. 본 연구의 대상은 자발적으로 이러닝을 채택할 수 있는 대학생을 대상으로 하였고, 설문 데이터 분석을 통한 실증연구를 수행하였다. 분석방법으로는 PLS 분석도구를 사용하였다. 분석결과 가설6을 제외하고는 모두 유용한 것으로 입증되었다.97)은 배움의 용이성, 기억의 용이성, 오류, 효율성, 만족성으로 분류하고 있고(Nielsen, 1997), Shneiderman(1998)는 효과성(직무시간, 배움의 시간), 효율성(기억의 지속시간, 오류), 만족도를 품질의 특성으로 분류하였다. 이와 같은 소프트웨어의 품질은 소프트웨어 계획, 개발, 성장과 쇠퇴의 모든 과정에 적용되며, 환경적 변화에 따라 사용자들의 정보욕구를 적절하게 반영하여 만족도를 높이 는 것이라고 요약할 수 있다. 그러나 현재까지 소프트웨어 품질 평가에 대한 연구들 은 보편적인 평가 항목들을 대상으로 측정하여 일반적인 품질기준을 제시하고 있고, 유사한 측정 내용들이 중복되어 있다. 이러한 경향은 산업별 특수성이 강한 소프트웨어에 대해서는 정확한 품질측정이 어려웠고, 품질측정에 대한 신뢰성을 떨어뜨리는 계기가 되었다. 이러한 한계를 극복하고자 나타난 방법론이 최종사용자들의 요구사항을 얼마나 적절하게 시스템에 반영했는지에 대한 사용성(Usability) 측정이다. 사용성에 대한 정의는 사용자들이 실질적으로 일하는 장소에서 직접 사용자들의 시스템 운용실태를 파악하여 문제점을 개선하는 것으로 요약할 수 있다.   • We must not consider a culture as means of economy. Specially, it is not possible that is supposed to incorporate a cultural identity in a shape of product, but also international competitiveness can not be raised by it. Because an identify is based on the system of symbol such as language, it can be understood only in a same cultural area. While, the value-in-use of technology can be accepted universally as a formative language of international style. Therefore, the competitiveness of design will say as a special quality that can be acquired in connection with technology. For instance, that Korean mobile telephone could be recognized worldwide is not because it has the Koreanized shape but has a high technology. The public have only a superficial understanding about design. Because that is limited in the visual aspect of product, so called 'the pretty design', which exclude the value-in-use and the organic correlation of form and function in general, it may be a cause of socio-ethical dysfunction. It is providing an elbowroom for making a mistake that can regard the product design as an artistic experiment and try to raise the international competitiveness simply with the visual aspect. And the distorted understanding about design has been diffused rapidly owing to spread of black box products because the over-designed shape is known to the public as a proper result of designing. That reorganize the design category will do as a starting point that can get rid of such a misunderstanding, and do to achieve an ideological role of design for human and society. And it will be a warning to the moral slackening that is due to regarding a style as means of competitiveness and the blindness due to thinking culture as means of economy, and we may expect to offer a basic understanding about design which can prevent products from being visualized.

  • The purpose of this research is to identify the concrete imagery terms that characterize Korean cultural identity and to express Korean feelings and images through those words. We classified the selected imagery terms into the elements of design, the principles of design, abstraction, expression and function. As a result, new aspects of the Korean Image are as follows. 1, It recognized that the colors representing the Korean image are not only achromatic but also splendid. 2. Noble images with common images have taken up a large part of Korean traditional image. 3. Pleasant images as well as sad images should be presented as a new perspective to express Korean cultural identity. 4. Indirect image rather than direct image appears frequently, while positive/active image appears frequently. Since this image accounts for a large portion of Korean present image it cannot be overlooked as Korean traditional Image. 5. Korean traditional architecture is expressed as functional and rational. Up until now, representative imagery terms about Korean cultural identity appear to be positive and active and we know that Korean feelings and images are implying more variety to the image generally recognized at this time. Therefore, if today's various information technology, and values are compared and the continuity and changes of designs are appropriately combined above Korean cultural identity with these results, this will provide an essential direction for the development of global Korean designs.

  • issued in the U.S is a magazine specialized in graphic design, which has a totally different style from commercial magazines such as show case. The main motive why Rudy VanderLans, the publisher, first issued this magazine in the early 1980s is his assertion that there is no design paradigm of universial concept in the aspect of viaual communication design. Also, it started from his recognition that a medium for letting a new generation's show their liberal thinking and experimental expressions. This study looks at theologies and assertions on new graphic concept, which is called the New Wave of graphic design by classifying the plans of into form and contents, and analyzes its specialty in design. Also, this study examines the overall trends of non-Grid editorial design since the modern style. By doing so, I could have a general look at the progressive traits and their futuristic directions that become to have a shorter life cycle with the advent of the 21st century's information era, high-tech media and the change of production environment by digital technology.

  • 4차 산업혁명의 특징 중 하나는 생산과 소비의 결합이다. 이제는 소비자가 직접 구매할 물건의 생산에 관여하고, 직접 필요한 물건을 생산한다. 이는 다양한 제작도구들이 보편화되면서 가능해졌다. 이런 흐름으로 세계적으로 메이커 운동, 메이커 교육이 주목받고 있다. 메이커들은 실생활의 문제를 해결하기 위해 창의적인 문제해결 방법을 활용하여 무언가를 만들고 공유한다. 이런 공유문화는 메이커들의 축제인 메이커 페어에서 쉽게 확인할 수 있다. 창의적인 메이커를 교육을 통해 길러내야 될 필요성을 공감하고 있으며, 메이커 교육을 학교 현장에 적용하기 위한 방법으로는 디자인 사고가 있다. 디자인 사고 프로세스는 실제 제품을 사용할 소비자에게 공감하여 이해한 뒤, 다양한 대안을 찾는 확산적 사고, 주어진 상황에서 최선의 방법을 찾는 수렴적 사고의 반복을 통해 결과물을 도출하는 창의적 문제해결 방법이다. 현재 온라인과 오프라인 상에서 다양한 메이커 교육이 이뤄지고 있다. 이를 학교에 도입하여 학생들을 가르치기 위해서는 교사의 역량이 중요하다. 아무리 좋은 교육이라도 교사들이 모른다면 학생들을 가르칠 수 없기 때문에 메이커 교육을 학교 현장에 투입하기 위해서는 메이커 교육을 위한 교사 연수 프로그램 개발이 필요하다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 디자인 사고 기반 메이커교육을 위한 초등교사 연수프로그램을 개발하고자 한다.

A Concept and Standard of the Environment Design for the Joint Infant-rearing Facilities (공동육아시설을 위한 환경디자인의 개념과 기준)

  • Because of the oocIear family due to the rapid industrialization and the growth of husband and wife bah working, the base of the tradition that the parents, all of the famly or the hamet oonmunity bring up the infants together in the important time to the infarts has been collapsed in Korea. Because working mothers camot bring up their children by themselves they got stressed and housewives do not have the oonfidence in rearing their infants and the fathers are isolated from home and the chikten instead of being exempted from the responsibility of rearing children. Therefore the common and comprehensive rearing system should be made for solving the child-rearing problem. For solving these problems and for the desirable infant-rearing and education, the joint irlart rearing, whidl compensates for the life, education and furthermore the sdlool edJcation through the volur1ary participation, has been prepared altematively. Compared to the traditional rearing system, joint infant-rearing is not only operated by the residents with the dues paid by the union members but also makes children experience the life force of natu"e in themselves. So the preparation of the standard of the suitable environment design for the joint infant-rearing is required which is diffrent from the traditional standard of the environmertal facilities for the traditional rearing system. The concept of joint infant-rearing was defind in this study through the reference and the ooncept of infant edJcation which is in operation suocessfully in Italy and Sweden in order to understand how the ooncept of infant education has changed as the ages have dlanged. And the basic principals for the formation of physical envirorvnert and the spare design and the envirorYnertal oondition for the practical environmental design was also studied through the reference. And after study about the concept. figure and physical environmental suggestion, the concept, standard and element of joint infant-rearing environment design was suggested. And as the final conclusion, the design requirement of the envirorvnertal design for the joint infant-rearing was suggested.

An Inquiry into the Cultural Identity of Korean Design: 'Well-Being' and 'Body-Mind Monism' (한국 디자인의 문화적 정체성에 대한 소고: '웰빙'과 '심신일원론')

  • It is incontestable that the essence of the current fever of well-being is pseudo-ideology, which is the commercialized well-being. Nevertheless, the potential value as the cultural contests of Korean Design, reaching the philosophy of well-being, must not be overlooked. Being more than its dictionary meaning of 'happiness' and 'welfare', well-being aims peace of mind and richness in mentality, thus supports the life style of 'Body-Mind Monism'. As a trend that has taken a ride on the consumerism, it is inevitable to excavate the benign cultural value that an ordinary sign of well-being lacks in order to create a peculiar model of Korea's design contents by sublimating the commodity aesthetic of well-being into an alternative argument possessing the cultural identity of Korea. Well-being, not much different form an attitude of following the 'ways of nature', is a typical model of non-dualistic thinking of East Asia. By tracing back to the indication of well-being that already existed in the non-dualistic thought and design of East Asia, the genealogy connecting the current phenomena of well-being to the Body-Mind Monism can be found in the cultural traditions of as close as Korea and as far as East Asia. In the case of adopting the monistic way of East Asian thinking that sees body and mind as one not two as the theoretical background of well-being imported fro the West, it is expected to provide a solution for the design discourse of Korea to be out of colonialism. Well-being contributes to the monistic awareness in the period of self-reflected modernization, which needs to search new values based on the reconsideration of dualistic paradigm centered on the Western culture, thus it is worth putting anticipation on the potential significance well-being would have in the field of national as well as international design world.

Welfare Science and Technology Responsive to Ageing (고령화에 대응하는 복지 과학기술)

  • This paper explores into the potential contribution of welfare science and technology(WST) to meeting the challenges of ageing. Drawing on the literature about gerontechnology, this paper considers the application of scientific knowledge for welfare of an aging population. WST for the improvement of the daily functioning of the elderly people can not only prevent, delay or compensate for the declines or impairments of coginitive and physical functions (by assistive technology) but also enhance personal ability to overcome problems either by supporting the person's abilities (by supportive technology) or by changing the environment (by public welfare technology). This paper draws attention to a paradigm change in the conceptualization of disability and its ramifications for the role of technology and aging. A range of approaches such as Barrier-Free design, Universal Design points to new directions of WST in which products and services are devised to improve the quality of life for all people, and hence enhancing the socio-economic vitality. It is suggested that the future of welfare science and technology will be based in large measure on its goal to reduce or prevent individual and structural lag in the relationships between people and their environments. Addressing issues of the broader physical and social environment will emphasize the goal of prevention and the view that environmental needs for aging population are changing over time.
