Image Quality Evaluation of Digital X-ray Image and Film Image using Contrast Method (Contrast Method를 이용한 디지털 X선 영상과 필름 영상의 영상 질(Quality) 평가)

  • In this paper, an image quality evaluation of amorphous selenium based x-ray system was performed using modulation transfer function (MTF) measurement. MTF as a main factor of imaging quality evaluation was investigated by contrast method from acquired test pattern image. The MTF value was measured to 36.1% at 3.0 lp/mm which is twice as high as that in the film image. Compared with other studies, the results demonstrate that amorphous selenium based x-ray detector is clinically meaningful.

  • We fabricate a measuring system to measure the modulation transfer function (MTF) of a mid-infrared imaging silicon lens by using the knife-edge scanning technique. In particular, we measure on-axial tangential MTF of the silicon lens with the focal length of 50 mm and F-number F/4 in the wavelength band of mid-infrared between $3\;{\mu}m$ and $5\;{\mu}m$. In order to obtain the infinite object, the off-axial parabolic reflector with the focal length of 2.545 m is utilized. In the comparison with measured MTF data and designed MTF values curve, we find that the tolerance of measured MTF data below the spatial frequency of 7 lp/mm is within 2%.

  • Because of the wide plane and the curved field of CRT rear projection high definition television, its MTF(modulation transfer function) can't be easily measured by the usual forward testing method. Then we propose a backward testing method for the MTF so that the object plane and the image analyzer of forward testing are located at positions opposite each other. We prefer to use the backward testing method because the forward testing method has poor accuracy caused by very small numerical aperture, low spatial resolutions, and long depth of focus. We found that the backward testing method was very easy to align and had high repeatability. We confirmed the confidence of results obtained by the backward testing method in comparison with designed results.

  • It is expected that the SCM (Subcarrier Multiplexing) optical link system, in which a number of small scale base stations with only antenna and RF transceiver are connected to central station through optical fiber, is in demand. In order to analyze the performance of SCM optical link system fur RF signal transmission, MZ(Mach-Zehnder) modulator's transfer function is modelled as nonlinear form with the cube of input signal. And considering the multiple access interferences occurred In the demodulation of other users'CDMA signals with multipath components after passing through MZ modulator, the BER performance is analyzed.

  • Speech intelligibility is investigated on a conference room-window glass coupled system. Using MLS(Maximum Length Sequency) signal as a sound source, acceleration and velocity responses of the window glass are measured by accelerometer and laser doppler vibrometer. MTF(Modulation Transfer Function) is used to identify the speech transmission characteristics of the room and window system. STI(Speech Transmission Index) is calculated by using MTF and speech intelligibility of the room and the window glass is estimated. Speech intelligibilities by the acceleration signal and the velocity signal are compared and the possibility of the wiretapping is investigated. Finally, intelligibility of the conversation sound is examined by the subjective test.

  • In this paper we propose the simple system for measuring the chromatic dispersion of a fiber by using Sagnac interferometer with a Mach-Zehnder modulator and induce the equivalent model and the transfer function of this system. The chromatic dispersion of fibers with length of 2.235km is measured by using this method in wavelength region from 1500nm to 1580nm and we conform that the measured results had a good agreement with the theoretical results given Corning Fiber.

  • This papers describes a nonlinear transfer function modelling of designed GaAs FET power amplifier by measured and simulated values of designed PA amplifier for multi­carrier transmission system, With the results of PA nonlinearity characteristic, we can estimates AM­AM and AM­PM of designed PA. According to the estimated nonlinear characteristics, we can analysis the ACPR of PA for spectral regrowth, the error vector measurement(EVM) of constallation signals and bit error rate of QPSK and 64­QAM. The suggested nonlinear modelling results are used to get an accurate estimate of digital characteristics between PA amplifier and wireless multi­carrier transmission system using OFDM.

  • Purpose: The present study was aimed to investigate the change of optical quality in fully cured eyes from central serous chorioretionopathy(CSC) and CSC under treatment, respectively. Methods: A total of 136 eyes(68 subjects) was divided into CMC under treatment and its asymptomatic contralateral eye, fully cured eyes after being diagnosed with CMC and its contralateral eye, and normal eyes. Objective scattering index, cut-off value in modulation transfer function, focusing rate, PSF(Point Spread Function) width at 50%, 10% and the contrast sensitivity were measured and analyzed. Results: CMC under treatment showed statistically significant decrease in all evaluations of optical quality compared with asymptomatic contralateral eyes, fully cured eyes and normal eyes. Although there was no significant difference in optical quality between asymptomatic contralateral eyes of CMC under treatment and fully cured eyes, there was tendence in optical quality decreasing compared with normal eyes. Conclusions: From the study, it was revealed that the optical quality was different according to the treatment phase in CMC. The use of optical quality assessment for the decision of complete cure and the evaluation of prognosis in CMC is also proposed.

  • A new linearization technique for RF high-power amplifiers(HPAs) using n-th order error signal generator (ESGn) is proposed. The n-th order ESG generates an error signal based on the complex envelope transfer characteristics of the HPA, which is combined at the output of the HPA. Therefore, the higher-order nonlinearlities are not affected by the ESG$\_$n/ and the stability of the linearized system is guaranteed due to the inherent open-loop configuration. Moreover, the output delay loss can be avoided, because the error signal is generated with the input signal of the HPA. The IMD(intermodulation distortion) improvement obtained applying the ESG$\_$7/ to 5 W class A HPA in cellular band demonstrates the feasibility of the proposed postdistortion system.
