Dynamic analysis on belt-drive system of machine tools (공작 기계 벨트 구동계의 동적 해석)

  • The needs of ultraprecision machine tools, which manufacture and machine the high precision parts used in computers, semiconductors and othe rprecise machines, have been increased recentrly. So it is important to design the driving parts of the ultraprecision machine tools which affect significantly on the performance of them. In this paper, the dynamic analyses on the belt-drive system were studied. The correlational equations between the acoustic natural frequency and the tension of belt were derived by experiments. The dynamic delections while the dynamic loads on the motor system changed were analyzed by the finite element analysis. The nonlinear characteristics of the bearings on the dynamic performance was studied and the belt connecting the motor to the spindle of a machine tool was modeled by the truss element and the beam element.

  • Motorized retractors enhance the safety of passengers by removing the slack of webbing and by holding upright driving position. Reliability of a driving mechanism that includes one-way clutch between the driving motor and webbing is directly linked to the safety of passenger. In this research, conditions for locking one-way clutch, and also conditions for sustaining locking are theoretically investigated. The operation of a motorized retractor under realistic conditions is simulated in order to validate the proposed retractor design.

Thermal and Mechanical Properties of EPDM and CR Compounds with Various Fillers and Its Contents for V-rib Belt (V-rib 벨트용 EPDM과 CR의 고온 내구성과 기계적 물성에 미치는 충전제의 영향)

  • The effects of reinforcing materials on durability and mechanical properties of V-rib belt were investigated. Cotton fiber and ZnO were used as a filler for CR, and cotton and aramid fiber were used for EPDM rubber compounds. These materials were prepared as a specimen and V-rib belt for heat resistant and mechanical test. High contents of ZnO give improved wear resistance, and higher contents of cotton fiber showed higher durability in high rotation speed but lower wear resistance for CR rubber compounds. Using the aramid and cotton fiber together in EPDM rubber compounds, thermal and wear resistance were improved simultaneously. The material containing EPDM matrix showed better durability and wear resistance than those of containing CR matrix comparing in the same cotton fiber contents.

  • Transmission error for a stepping motor-timing belt drive system is investigated experimentally and analytically. From FFT analysis of the experimental results, it is found that the transmission error consists of three periodic errors : (1) error by the stepping motor per one resolution angle theta.$_{m}$, (2) error by the pulley eccentricity per one revolution theta.$_{e}$, and (3) error by the meshing effect between the belt and the pulley teeth per one pitch revoltion theta.$_{p}$. In order to investigate the effects of some design parameters on the transmission error, the dynamic models of the stepping motor-timing belt drive system are derived by Bondgraph. According to the simulation results, as the belt total tension increases, theta.$_{m}$ and theta.$_{e}$ decrease due to the nonlinearity of the belt. In adition, the numerical and experimental results show that theta.$_{m}$ and theta.$_{e}$ of the loaded case are larger than those of the unloaded case. The analytical results are in good accordance with the experimental results.sults.s.sults.

  • Serpentine belt drive system offers the advantages of light weigh, low cost, quientness, and efficiency. Since these belts are typically longer than conventional belts, a tensioner component is added to maintain acceptable belt tension levels and make no slippage between pulleys and belts. This paper addresses the modeling and analysis of the automotive belt drive systems and also addresses the predicton of slippage on rotational modes. Vibration characteristics are determined from the eigenvalue problem governing the free response. Under certain engine operating conditions, the dynamic tension fluctuations may be sufficient to cause the belt to slip on particular accessory pulleys, It is found that this slippage can be reduced by adding the tensioner component from the analysis of belt tension and belt compression.

  • In this pater, the QLQG/LTR control method is applied for the position control of the nonlinear timing belt driving sys-tem. Parameters fo the plant are identified by genetic algorithm and nonlinear elements, such as Coulomb friction and dead-zone, and quasi-linearized by RIDE method. Comparing with the LQG/LTR contro. the QLQG/LTR has similar structures of the LQG/LTR, but this method can consider nonlinear effects in designing the controller. Thus, the QLQG/LTR control system is robust to hard nonlinearities such as Coulomb friction, dead-zone, etc. Forma given hard non-linear system through experiments, it is shown that the tracking performance of the QLQG/LTR control system can be very improved that the LQF/LTR control system.

  • Numerous applications of position controlling devices using servoing technique and transmission of energy through belt drives are practiced in the industry. Belt drive is a simple, lightweight, low cost power transmission system. Belt drives provide freedom to position the motor relative to the load and this phenomenon enables reduction of the robot arm inertia. It also facilitates quick response when employed in robotics. In this paper, precision positioning of a belt driven mechanism using a feed-forward compensator under maximum acceleration and velocity constraints is proposed. The proposed method plans the desired trajectory and modifies it to compensate delay dynamics and vibration. Being an offline method, the proposed method could be easily and effectively adopted to the existing systems without any modification of the hardware setup. The effectiveness of the proposed method is demonstrated through computer simulation and experimental results.

  • 본 논문에서는 PMSM(Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor)을 이용한 재봉틀 구동시스템을 개발하였다. 전차원 관측기를 이용하여 속도를 추정하고, 벨트(Belt)에 의한 외란 토크를 추정하여 보상하였다. 개발된 재봉틀 구동시스템을 실제 재봉틀에 장착하여 그 효용성을 검증하였다.

Design of Planetary Gear Reducer Driving part to Possible Disadhesion from Electric Wheelchair (전동 휠체어에 탈·부착이 가능한 유성기어 감속기 구동부 설계)

  • Electric wheelchairs, the output from the motor is mainly applied to a speed reducer using a power transmission device such as a belt or a chain. However, although a speed reducer using a belt or chain is a simple device, it occupies a lot of space and has a space limitation, so it is not suitable for an electric wheelchair driving part. However, since the speed reducer of the planetary gear type is decelerated on the same axis, the volume can be reduced, so the space constraint is less than that of the belt or chain type reducer. Therefore, in this study, a driving part that can obtain great propulsion with a speed reducer using a planetary gear type was developed through a study on the driving part of a wheelchair that can be switched between manual and electric. Accordingly, the tooth shape of the planetary gear applied to the reducer was designed using the Kisssoft program. In addition, the drive part was designed to be applicable to the existing wheelchair wheels, and the mechanism was optimized for the manual/electric switching principle and operation principle of the drive part. Based on the research contents, the final design and manufacture of the wheelchair reducer drive unit in the form of a planetary gear having one sun gear, two planetary gears and one ring gear was carried out.
