  • This paper is concerned with evaluating the fidelity of a non-cognitive test adaptation for use in multiple languages and cultures using two differential item functioning(DIF) techniques: (a) PSIBTEST, and (b) Logistic Discriminant Function Analysis(LDFA). In particular, this study focused on how DIF research can best be extended to the problem of evaluating the equivalence of tests across cultures and languages. The Sixteen Personality Factor (16PF) questionnaire was administered in English to 844 American college students and in Korean to 538 Korean college students. This study attempted to identify the best matching criterion for the translated tests by using both a multivariate matching technique and iterative purification process. The results generally showed a small number of DIF items on each scale, except for scales A and N where about half of the items showed DIF. The choice of matching variables based on a combination of internal measures appeared to have little effect and the iterative purification method was unsuccessful. Finally, the results were discussed and methodological implications were also presented.

  • The purpose of this study was to translate QUEST 2.0 in Korean with valid translation process and to measure psychometric characteristics. Translation process was consist of six steps. Internal consistency was analyzed by Cronbach's ${\alpha}$. Test-Retest reliability was analyzed by Spearman Rank Correlation Coefficient. Internal consistency of 'Assistive device' was .88, 'Services' .92. There was no statistically significant difference according to repetitive measure. The spearman correlation coefficient was .64 for "Assistive Device" and .66 for "Services". This result reflects K-QUEST 2.0's (Korean-Quebec User Evaluation of Satisfaction Assistive Technology 2.0) safety, consistency, and predictability in aspect of measure. In this study, the K-QUEST 2.0 was translated into Korean and the reliability of K-QUEST 2.0 was tested. Decisively, the K-QUEST 2.0 can be applied to evaluate user satisfaction of assistive technology.

  • The purpose of this study was to identify construct validity and reliability of instrument for professionalism in physical therapy using developed by American Physical Therapy Association for 470 physical therapists. The corrected data was analysed using confirmatory factor analysis and internal consistency. Model of professionalism was adequate (p<.05) and consisted of 7 factors. Standardized coefficients of construct factor were followed by the integrity (${\beta}$=.93), professional duty (${\beta}$=.92), and compassion/caring (${\beta}$=.86). There were significant difference in professionalism by career(p<.05) but not significant difference by sex(p>.05). Also, the internal consistency for sub-factor of professionalism demonstrated adequate reliability of the measure (Cronbach ${\alpha}$=.80~.96). Because instrument for professionalism in physical therapy have a validity and reliability, it is useful for measuring professionalism in physical therapists.

  • The purpose of this study is to conduct the Korean translation and validity of the Unconditional Positive Self-Regard Scale(UPSR) that Patterson and Joseph(2006) originally developed based on the Rogerian person-centered theory. K-UPSR was adapted, modified and validated from the UPSR Scale. This study verified reliability and validity, and factor structure of K-UPSR. The preliminary study was proceeded with twelve adapted questions to 131 undergraduate and graduate students. As a result, three questions were deleted for the low reliability. The exploratory factor analysis of the nine questions showed two sub factors. The internal consistency reliability of nine questions with two sub factors was .89 in this study. The study was conducted by 419 male and female adults and verified confirmatory factor analysis and the validity. The study data was evaluated for the suitability of convergent and discriminant validity of K-UPSR. Through the correlation analysis of other five scales, the result was mostly corresponded to the preliminary study.

  • The aim of this study was to translate and validate the revised Nottingham Sensory Assessment(rNSA) in Republic of Korea. A cross-sectional study was conducted to translate the rNSA into Korean using a modified forward/backward translation procedure. Inter-rater and intra-rater reliability, internal consistency, and concurrent validity were investigated to validate the Korean version rNSA. The Korean version rNSA showed excellent inter-rater reliability (r=0.92-1.00) and intra-rater reliability (r=0.93-1.00). Significant correlations were found between sensory assessment results of the Korean version of the rNSA and the Korean Fugl Meyer Assessment Sensory subscales (r=0.96). The Cronbach α value of internal consistency of Korean version rNSA was ranged from 0.73 to 0.90, the value of K-FMA-S was ranged from 0.70 to 0.88. In these results, psychometric properties of the Korean version of the rNSA achieved the standard level and can be feasible in clinical practice to assess sensory function following stroke in Republic of Korea.

  • The purpose of this study is to translate The Digital Addiction Scale for Children(DASC) developed by Hawi, Samaha and Griffiths into Korean and to verify its validity. To translate and validate the original scale developed for 9-12 years old, 294 people aged 9-12 years who usually use digital devices, and exploratory factor analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, internal consistency, and validity analysis were conducted. In addition, reliability and validity analysis were conducted to confirm that this scale is a tool to measure the digital addiction of Korean children with high confidence level and validity. This study is meaningful in that it laid the foundations for related research by adapting and validating the digital addiction scale for children, which complements the limitations of the preceding measures, in accordance with the domestic situation in the situation where the digital addiction problem of children is getting serious.

  • The purpose of the current study was to examine the validity of the Leisure Satisfaction Scale(LSS) and confirm the relations between the LSS and subjective well-being. The LSS developed by Beard and Ragheb[9] has been used for about 20 years without the examination of the validity since it was utilized in Lee[2]'s study in Korea. First, all items of the original LSS and the operational definition of factors were translated and then inversely translated, and reviewed by experts in leisure studies. A total of 515 respondents participated in the study. To achieve the goals of this study, item-total correlation, correlation analysis, exploratory factor analysis, reliability analysis, multiple regression and confirmatory factor analysis were conducted by SPSS 14.0 and AMOS 5.0 programs. Main findings are as follows: First, the factor names(psychological, educational, social, physical, esthetic, and relaxation) and items were modified. Second, modified operational definition of factors were presented. The reliability and validity of the LSS consisted of 24 items and five factors were very high. Psychological and relaxation factors of LSS affected subjective well-being positively. The new LSS would be useful for the future studies associated with leisure satisfaction.

  • Although Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder(ADHD) has been considered as the disorder occurring during childhood, the prevalence is increasing among adolescents and adults. The prevalence rate varies from 2.0 to 14.3% due to the difference of diagnostic criteria, different assessment methods, or subjects' age difference. Therefore, it needs to make age specific(i.e., for children, for adolescents, and for adults) assessment tools. Authors translated Conners-Wells Adolescents Self-Report Scales(short form)[CASS(S)] in to Korean to get validity and reliability as a way of development of assessment tool for adolescent with ADHD in Korea. CASS(S) was translated and corrtected by three psychiatrists and one clinical psychologist. To examine the concurrent validity and test-retest validity, CASS(S) was applied with K-YSR on one class of each grade in a middle school in Seoul with two week interval(total 115:male 58, female 57). To test validity, authors analysed and got Cronbach's as internal consistency. Construct validity was done by principal axis factor analysis on 4,354 students. As a result, Cronbach's alpha for internal consistency was .88, Pearson coefficient for test-retest reliability .83, and coefficient for concurrent validity .65. And in the factor analysis to examine construct validity, three factors were revealed as cognition, hyperactivity, and conduct. These results shows that CASS(S) may be useful tool for adolescents with ADHD, although there was a limit not to be done the comparison with clinical groups.
