  • A fire in a clean room may cause a serious loss by spreading smoke particles. The effects of the width of smoke curtains on delay in smoke spread, which is located the work area boundaries, were investigated by using a computational fluid dynamics, for loss prevention by smoke spreading from one fire area to another. The fire scenario was set to a 1 MW methanol fire in a space of $30m\times10m$ floor and 4 m high. Distributions of temperature and smoke particles were compared for the width of the smoke curtains 0 (without smoke curtains), 1, 2, 3m. It was confirmed that a larger width of the smoke curtain delays spread of smoke more, and that making the work areas compartments is necessary to confine the smoke in the fire area.

  • In this study, we developed a module that can perform two functions at the same time through interworking between a personal recognition module and a heat detection module in the era of COVID-19. This can simultaneously solve the problem of compatibility of the personal recognition module that occurs in the existing system and the problem of secondary infection that can occur during congestion due to the separate implementation of heat detection. Therefore, in this study, NFC and Bluetooth motherboards were developed, and an array-type non-contact temperature sensor was applied to detect heat. The developed system is expected to be able to realize both access control of floating population and effective quarantine at the same time in public institutions or private companies that require AI automated access control. In addition, it is judged that it is possible to link the embedded programming and web programming implementation method using the module of the development system to the educational program.

  • This paper intends to draw implications for preparing for Post-Corona in the health field and policy fields as the global pandemic is experienced due to COVID-19. The purpose of this study is to analyze the news and trends of media companies through temporal analysis of the three infectious diseases, SARS-CoV, MERS-CoV, and SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19), in which the domestic infectious disease preventive system was active throughout the first year of the outbreak. To this end, by using the news analysis program of the Korea Press Foundation 'Big Kinds', the number of news articles per year was digitized based on the period when each infectious disease had an impact on Korea, and major trends were implemented and analyzed in a word cloud. As a result of the analysis, the number of articles related to infectious diseases peaked when the World Health Organization (WHO) declared a warning and (suspicious) confirmed cases occurred. According to keyword and word cloud analysis, 'infectious disease outbreak and major epidemic areas', 'prevention authorities', and 'disease information and confirmed patient information' were found to be the main common features, and differences were derived from the three infectious diseases. In addition, the current status of the infodemic was identified by performing word cloud analysis on information in uncertainty. The results of this study are significant in that they were able to derive the roles of the health authorities and the media that should be preceded in the event of a new disease epidemic through previously experienced infectious diseases, and areas to be rearranged.

  • This study was conducted to compare the mortality number of swine between before and after HACCP implementation on different scales of swine farm. The study was carried out by randomly selected sixty swine farms (twenty small, twenty midium and twenty large scales of farm) located in all around Korea. The results were as follows: In small scale swine farm, The mortality number due to respiratory, diarrhea and accidental death tended to be decreased compared to before HACCP implementation. In the case medium scale farm, the mortality number due to diarrhea significantly decreased after HACCP compared to before HACCP. Also, in both medium and large scale farms, the number of total mortality number significantly decreased with HACCP implementation. We believe that this effect is considered to be due to the operation of the HACCP prerequisite program. We are expecting that our results might be used for producing safer livestock products by improving livestock products HACCP policy.

  • This research was performed to acquire fundamental data to be used in developing school foodservice monitoring programs by investigating the actual operational conditions and views of dietitians and students' parents on foodservice monitoring. A questionnaire was provided to the parents and the dietitians of 100 school foodservice establishments in Ulsan area for one month (June, 2007). The questionnaires of 51 foodservice establishments from dietitians and parents were collected (response rate 51%). The collected data from the questionnaires were statistically analyzed using the SAS package program. In terms of the study subjects, 98.0% of the school foodservices were direct managed. The knowledge of HACCP of the students' parents included 'know well' (52.6%), 'know a little bit' (8.8%), and 'do not know' (38.6%). 90.2% of the subjects were monitoring school foodservice regularly. The performance rates of school foodservice monitoring by the students' parents were in the order of: inspecting food materials (95.4%), food preparation (92.7%), and cleaning and facilities sanitation (88.1%). Of the students' parent respondents, 64.1% received preliminary monitoring education regularly, in the order of inspecting food materials (70.9%), food preparation (67.5%), and cleaning and facilities sanitation (60.9%); menu planning (45.5%) was the most highly required item for preliminary education. The understanding degree, in terms of the foodservice preliminary education, was 3.10 points, and the effects evaluation scores of the preliminary education by the dietitians was 3.18 points out of 5 points. The evaluation results for both the importance and performance about the foodservice monitoring items, as evaluated by the students' parents, indicating that importance was higher than performance in 7 of the foodservice monitoring items. The highest item for both importance and performance was 'food preparation'. There were no differences between the importance and performance of the foodservice monitoring items, regardless of whether or not the students' parents had preliminary education, suggesting that the preliminary education of the students' parents was not effective so far. In conclusion, in order to maximize the effectiveness of students' parent foodservice monitoring programs, it is necessary that students' parents participate voluntarily and perform foodservice monitoring regularly. Also, the preliminary education should be offered prior to performing monitoring, considering the demands and the characteristic of the students' parents.
