Properties of Cold Weather Concrete Using Anti-freeze Agent Based Formate-acetate (포름산-아세트산염계 방동제를 사용한 콘크리트의 특성)

  • When fresh concrete is exposed to the cold weather, the concrete may happen frost damage because of freezing at early ages and the strength development may be go down. Therefore, this paper is intend to investigate the properties and availabilities of cold weather concrete using anti-freeze based formate-acetate for ensure of excellent concrete quality on cold temperature. According to test result for concrete in anti-freeze agent, strength properties in sub-zero temperature increases in comparison with concrete of non anti-freeze agent without decline of strength until later age. When anti-freezing agent is added by 3.0% to binder, it gives good effects on the performance of the fresh and harden concrete.

  • This study was investigated freezing temperature measurement method and freezing temperature properties of anti-freeze agency in the domestic. Anti-freeze agency kinds were intended for nitrous acid. Anti-freeze agency with water dilution ratio was showed range of $-4.9{\sim}-6.3^{\circ}C$ in case of 1:3, $-3.3{\sim}-4.2^{\circ}C$ in case of 1:5, $-2.1{\sim}-3.3^{\circ}C$ in case of 1:7.

  • In this study, the development and application of concrete using accelerator for freeze protection is presented. As a result, physical properties of concrete using antifreeze admixture were no significant differences compared to ordinary portland cement.

  • In this paper, quality variations of commercially available anti-freezers manufactured in Korea are studied. This study is focused on the effect of the use of anti freezer on strength recovery of cement mortar under low curing temperature. As expected, regardless of types of anti freezer, the use of antifreezer protects the water from freezing under low curing temperature.

  • In this paper, the effects of type and content of antifreezer on the frost resistance of concrete at early age were investigated. For this purpose, 4 types of antifreezer and 2 types of superplasticizer were selected, and based on the strength recovery ratio, the frost resistance of concrete was estimated. The optimum concrete mixes were also produced when the curing temperatures were -5 and -10$\{circ}{c}$.

  • The concrete which has placed under cold weather has some defects such as the decrease of initial strength by hydration delay, strength unrecover at unhardened concrete freezing and structural failure and crack by expansion pressure. So, in this study, we tried to develope the concrete which can be made under cold weather without defect by using of do-icing agency In concrete test, the used do-icing agency has the characteristics of de-icing and rapid hydration. By test results, Co{$NH_{2}$$]_{2}$is unsuitable for workability, and NaN$O_{2}$ is the most suitable agency for cold weather. And for curing, the cured concrete at $21^{\circ}C$ for 24 hours has the safe strength.

  • Concrete placed under cold weather has some defects such as the decrease of initial strength by hydration delay, strength unrecovery at unhardened concrete freezing, and structural failure and crack by expansion pressure. So, in this study, we tried to evaluate the JIS mortar which was made under cold weather using de-icing agency. In mortar test, the do-icing agency increased compressive strength under standard curing, and the de-icing agency made by NaNO$_2$ gave the highest strength. However, as pre-curing time under 21$^{\circ}C$ was short, the de-icing agency made by NaNO$_2$ and Ca[NO$_3$]$_2$ had the highest strength.

  • In order to examine the possibility of practical use of concrete at low-temperature environment using high early strength cement with cold resistance admixture, an experimental study on workability, freezing temperature and compressive strength of the mortar with different types of anti-freezer, water reducing agent and accelerator for freeze protection at low-temperature were evaluated. Compressive strength was increased in use of anti-freezer, especially SN anti-freezer was higher than CN anti-freezer. 0min flow was increased, the 20min flow was decreased. And 20min flow was improved in use of FR, RT water reducing agent. CF, LS accelerator for freeze protection, regardless of the type of water reducing agent, compressive strength was increased.
