Higher grade elementary school students who have superior cognitive abilities need education of basic principles of computer or programming rather than computer in education. In this study, all the errors occurring while elementary school students wrote and executed programs were collected. in the method of predicting and dealing with possible-to-occur problems on programming education of the higher grades (4th, 5th and 6th grades) during their optional special activities or during talent aptitude activities after school, classified by type and analyzed. If the errors analyzed are put to practical use, optimal programming curriculums could be written and such curriculums could be a great contribution to induction of learning effect and interest on teaching learning. It was found by analyzing the errors collected for this study that the most of elementary school students during programming felt difficulties in simple errors by poor use of software and in simple coding by poor use of reserved words in English. In the next, students occurred errors by difficulties in understanding grammar. It was exposed that these error types were the opposite phenomena to those analyzed by commercial software developing companies, however, it is predicted that if teaching learning is setting improved, the same phenomena could be found desirably.

This study analyzed the relationship of elementary after-school physical activity program satisfaction on commitment and intention of continuing involvement. Of the subjects residing in the P City to participate in after-school physical activity program for elementary school students in using convenience sampling, 228 people were sampled. This research made a frequency analysis and reliability analysis of the obtained data using SPSS 17.0 program while making a correlation analysis, confirmatory factor analysis and structural equation model analysis using AMOS 7.0. were also used. Research results are as follows. First, the satisfaction of the leaders had influenced on the commitment. second, the satisfaction of the facility had influenced on the commitment. third, the satisfaction of the leaders hadn't influenced on the intention of continuing involvement. fourth, the satisfaction of the facility hadn't influenced on the intention of continuing involvement. fifth, the commitment had influenced on the intention of continuing involvement.

Teaching aids Robot Education, through early education and contests, is very commonly known to elementary school students, their parents and teacher. However, not only we do not have complete knowledge of how robot education for after school performs, but also we lack a proper management skills in educating new teachers and running a structured program. Thus, through this research, we would like to identify the problems in teacher's knowledge and how the robot education is running according to provinces, size of cities, public private school, and size of schools and provide proper and most effective way of teaching after school robot class. According to the result of this research of running 'Robot class' in different area, sub-areas and size of schools, there was a meaningful difference and the biggest problem in performance was the class organization. In addition, about the expectation through after school classes, the research showed that the teachers expect lower cost of private education and improvement in creativity the most.

This study aims to provide suggestions for software education in an afterschool program, deriving from the analysis of student experiences of working on Scratch team projects. This study reports on the implementation of the 12 week afterschool software education program in an elementary school, where students worked in pairs to learn Scratch programming from ideation to design and presentation. For an in-depth study of student-generated artifacts, we selected three groups' Scratch projects and conducted artifact-based interviews to unpack student experiences working on Scratch projects as a group. Adopting the computational thinking framework as an overarching analytical lens, we focused on examining student experiences from three dimensions of computational thinking (CT), namely, CT concepts, CT practices, and CT perspectives. The present study provides both theoretical and practical implications. Firstly, we demonstrate the feasibility of applying the CT framework for assessing student-generated artifacts in design-oriented software education. We also believe that this study provides important suggestions to future software education programs adopting CT as an overarching design and assessment framework.

It is possible to increase integrated thinking and problem solving ability ultimately through STEAM education. This study developed STEAM model to apply to subjects and scratch knowledge education that sixth grade students in elementary schools can learn each subject through STEAM learning by applying scratch programming and it was applied and analyzed during regular classes and afterschool classes for sixth grade students. As a result, it was possible that about 70% of sixth grade students, the subject of model application were able to do STEAM learning initiatively by applying scratch program. Other 30% of the students were able to do STEAM learning partially through scratch. As for the achievement assessment of STEAM learning, it was evaluated that most of the students for the evaluation subjects got satisfactory achievement level by getting overall average 7.83 out of ten. Thus, it is considered that STEAM learning model by applying scratch is very superior that applying existing programming language such as C, BASIC etc.

The main purposes of this study are to: (1) to develop astronomy observation program based on a standardized coefficient decision program; and (2) to apply the developed program to after-school or club activities. As a first step, we analyzed activities related to astronomy in the authorized textbooks that are currently adopted in high schools. based on the analysis, we developed an astronomy observation program according to the standardized coefficient decision program, and the program was applied to students' astronomical observations as part of the club activities. Specifically, this program used a 102 mm refracting telescope and digital camera. we took into account the observation site's environment of the urban areas in which many school were located and then developed a the computer program for observation activities. The results of this study are as follows. First, the current astronomical education in schools was based off of the textbooks. Specifically, it was mostly about analyzing the materials and making simulated experiments. Second, most schools participated in this study were located in urban areas where students had more difficulty in observation than in rural areas. Third, an exemplary method was investigated in order to make an astronomical observation efficiently in urban areas with the existing devices. In addition, the standardized coefficient decision program was developed to standardize the magnitude of stars according to the observed value. Finally, based on the students' observations, we found that there was no difference between the magnitude of a star in urban sites and in rural sites. The current astronomical education in schools lacks an activity of practical experiments, and many schools have not good observational sites because they are located in urban areas. However, use of this program makes it possible to collect significant data after a series of standardized corrections. In conclusion, this program not only helps schools to create an active astronomy observation activity in fields, but also promotes students to be more interested in astronomical observation through a series of field-based activities.

Purpose : Asthma is one of the most common chronic childhood disease. Education of asthmatic children and their families about asthma and its management may improve disease control, reduce symptoms, and improve school performance. The aim of the study was to evaluate the effects of an intensive asthma education program in asthmatic children and their families on outcome measure of asthma management behavior scale, knowledge about asthma, self efficacy scale and quality of life. Methods : Fifteen asthmatic children and their families were invited the intensive asthma education program which including allergen avoidance, management of asthma, correct use of the inhalation devices and control of exercise-induced asthma (study group). Fifteen asthmatic children and their families those who did not participate this program were served as control group. Participants were asked to complete a written questionnaire before and 3-month after the program. Results : After completing the intensive education program, significant improvement of the childrens asthma management behavior scale (27.1 vs. 32.2, P=0.011), belief and knowledge about asthma (14.2 vs. 17.9, P<0.001), self efficacy (47.9 vs. 49.7, P=0.091) and quality of life (79.6 vs. 88.6, P<0.001) was noted in the study group by measuring questionnaires. There are increasing tendencies in parental asthma management behavior scale and knowledge about asthma. Conclusion : This intensive asthma education program is effective in improving asthma control, self efficacy and quality of life of asthmatic children. This should serve as a national model for family-based programs for asthmatic children and their families.
Given that less attention has been paid to teachers than students in mathematics education, this study attempted to provide theoretical foundations to understand better mathematics teacher learning and teaching practice in transition. First, this paper summarized three conceptions of teacher learning on the basis of the relationships of knowledge and practice followed by several implications to mathematics teacher education. Second, this paper provided a brief overview of cognition as situated, social, and distributed. This paper then explored new implications and issues about mathematics teacher learning that the overview brought to light. It is expected for teacher educators and researchers to participate in rich discussion of many implicit issues about teacher learning that this paper begins to raise.
This study aimed to evaluate the effects of utilizing educational game content for science learning on science-related attitudes. The content was applied to 24 students in an after-school science club at an elementary school in Gyeongsangbuk-do Province followed by a pre and posttest analysis using the Attitude About the Relevance of Science Test and the Creative Personality Test. This study used Tino's Journey, which was developed by the Korea Creative Content Agency and is currently distributed for free through the Ministry of Education to develop nine lessons that include scientific scenarios and concepts presented in the game. The results demonstrated that science lessons utilizing educational game content significantly influenced the science-related attitudes of the students. Among the subdomains, enjoyment of science lessons increased the most followed by the attitude toward scientific inquiry, social meaning of science, and hobby of science. However, the commonness of scientists, acceptance of scientific attitudes, and career in science did not reveal significant differences. This study classified the students into two groups (i.e., high and low, n=12 each) using the Creative Personality Test in advance. This study performed covariate analysis with the score for pre-science-related attitude as the covariate. Result revealed that the scores for science-related attitude significantly differed between the high and low groups. Specifically, the increase in the scores of the low group was larger than that of the high group. Lastly, the study presented implications for the utilization of educational game content in science learning.

Purpose : This study was designed to determine the effects of a school-based obesity-management program on obese primary school children. Methods : A total of 995 children (6-2 years old) in a primary school were screened in March 2008, and of those, 101 obese students (44 boys and 57 girls, body mass index (BMI) ${\geq}95$ percentile) were enrolled for a study group. The schoo-lbased, obesity management program, which includes physical exercise and nutritional education, was conducted as part of an extracurricular program for 12 weeks. The measurement of height, weight, waist circumference, blood pressure (BP), and bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA) was performed before and after the program.Results : Height and weight increased significantly (P <0.05). The BMI and obesity index decreased significantly (P <0.01). Systolic and diastolic BP decreased significantly (P <0.01). BMI decreased in 61.4% of boys and 66.7% of girls. Protein and basal metabolic rate (BMR) increased significantly on the BIA (P <0.01). Fat decreased significantly (P <0.05). The total body water (TBW) and percent body fat (PBF) decreased significantly (P <0.01). The changes in protein, fat, TBW, PBF, and BMR significantly correlated to the change in BMI (P <0.05). In a multiple logistic regression analysis, BMI change was significantly correlated to the changes in protein and fat content (P <0.01). Conclusion : The school-based obesity management program is a very effective way to manage obesity for obese primary school children.
