Effects of Paper Mill Sludge-Fertilizer Application on the Growth Performances of Tree Seedlings (제지(製紙)슬러지 가공비료(加工肥料)의 시용(施用)이 수묘(樹苗)의 생육(生育)에 미치는 영향(影響))

  • Effects of paper mill sludge-fertilizers were investigated on the growth performances of tree seedlings under field conditions. Two types of sludge-fertilizers applied were an organic sludge compost and a processed sludge-pellet fertilizer strengthened with several components of organic and inorganic nutrients. Three species of tree seedlings studied were ibota privet(Ligustrum obtusifolium) and yellow poplar(Liriodendron tulipifera) of 1-0 year seedlings and also eastern white pine(Pinus strobus) of 2-2 year seedlings. Nitrogen and phosphorus contents of plot soil treated with sludge compost+sludge-pellet fertilizer+sludge-pellet fertilizer plot were increased to 8 times and 2.6 times as those of control plot, respectively. The growth performances of root collar diameter and seedling height were repeatedly measured up to five times through the growing season and the results were analyzed statistically by analysis of variance of randomized block design and Duncan's multiple range test. The growth performances of dry weight were measured after last fifth measurements.

Effects of Audio-visual Entertainment and Soft Tissue Mobilization on Pressure Pain Thresholds, Psychophysiological parameters, and Brain waves in University Students with Tension-type Headache (긴장성 두통이 있는 대학생들에게 시청각적 엔터테인먼트와 연부조직 가동술이 압력통각역치, 바이오피드백, 뇌파에 미치는 영향)

  • TTH(tension-type headache) is the most common primary headache among adults. Long-term headaches cause chronic headaches and have a better impact on daily life. The purpose of this study is to compare the contributions to TTH through AVE(audio-visual entertainment) and STM(soft tissue mobilization) suitable for management of pathogenic and psychogenic factors of TTH. The participants of this study were from 30 people who complained of intermittent or persistent headaches for more than 6 months, and 10 participants each in the AVE group, STM group, and AVE plus STM group. In the assigned group, a total of 12 sessions were performed three times a week for 4 weeks after the baseline, followed by post-test. Outcome measures measured PPTs(pressure pain thresholds), psychophysiological parameters, and EEG(electroencephalogram). The measured results were analyzed for interaction between time and group through a two way rmANOVA(repeated measurement variance analysis). As a result of the PPTs, interaction was found in the results of the right trapezius (p<.05), and the more improvement was observed in the AVE group. Therefore, through AVE based on psychological factors rather than direct access to the muscles of pathogenic factors, a positive impact on the PPTs was shown, but the average value of the psychophysiological parameters and brain waves that were not statistically significant. The amount of change was observed. Through this, it is suggested that audio-visual stimulation could be considered in the management of TTH.

The Effects of Anger Management Program of the Psychotic Patient : Focus on Video and Tea Gathering (분노관리 프로그램이 정신질환자의 공격성에 미치는 효과 : 동영상과 차모임을 중심으로)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate effect of psychotic patient after applying anger management video and tea gathering program to psychotic patient. This study was an experimental research and used nonequivalent control-group pretest-posttest design. Study subjects were 16 patients for an experimental group and 16 for a control group-32 in total- who were psychotic patients hospitalized in a closed ward in H mental hospital. The measurement variable is an aggressiveness scale, and the effect of the program was measured once after the video program and once after eight tea gathering. Data Analysis methods were real number and percentage, average and standard deviation, χ2 test, t-test, paired t-test, and Repeated measure ANOVA. The aggression of an experiment group was significantly lower than the control group(F=14.38, p< .001). Aggressive sub-item, hostility (F=8.53, p< .001), anger (F=6.10, p=.004), verbal aggression(F=7.58, p< .001), physical aggression(F=13.92, p< .001) all of tte experiment group was significantly lower than control group. Based on these results, anger management programs can be used as basic data for anger control in psychotic patient or in various groups.

Correlation Analysis with Modified Barthel Index and Motor Assessment Scale in Stroke Patients (뇌졸중환자의 기능평가척도로서의 MBI와 MAS의 상관성분석)

  • 연구목적 : 뇌졸중환자에 기능회복도의 측정을 위해 가장 신뢰도가 높은 MBI에 대해서 순수하게 뇌졸중환자의 운동기능평가만을 위해 고안된 MAS의 상관성을 각 기간별로 분석하여 MAS의 운동기능평가척도로서의 객관성에 대해 연구한다. 또 한편으로 경과시간에 따른 운동기능 회복도의 차이를 전체그룹과 사상그룹에서 평가한다. 연구방법 : 1998년 1월부터 1998년 6월까지 6개월에 걸쳐 상지대학교 한의과대학 부속한방병원 내과에 입원하여 뇌졸중으로 진단된 환자 중 의식과 언어상태가 명료한 32명을 대상으로 하였다. 입원직후 사상의학과에 의뢰하여 QSCCII 시스템에 의하여 체질진단을 받은 후 본원 운동기능평가실에서 입원직후, 입원 후 2주와 4주 등 3회에 걸쳐 Modified Barthel Index(MBI)와 Motor Assessment Scale(MAS)을 시행하였다. 각 환자에 대한 검사는 2명의 한방순환기내과 전문의와 전공의에 의해 환자에 대한 사전 정보 없이 이루어졌다. 연구결과 : 통계처리는 상관분석을 위해서는 Pearson correlation coefficient, 사상체질에 있어서 각 경과시간에 따른 점수변화는 Repeated ANOVA, 일반적특성 분석에는 Descriptive analysis가 사용되었고, 프로그램은 SPSS/PC+ 7.5 version을 사용하였다. 1. 뇌졸중 환자의 사상의학적인 분포는 태음인이 56.3%로 가장 많았고, 소양인이 28.1%, 소음인이 12.5%, 태양인이 3.1%이었으며, 연령별로는 50대가 32.6%로 가장 많았으며, 평균연령은 60.9세였다. 2. 경과시간에 따른 사상체질간의 MBI, MAS 평균점수변화는 MBI, MAS 모두 반복측정 분산분석 결과 입원당시와 2주 후, 입원당시와 4주 후에서 모두 P<0.001의 범위에서 통계학적으로 유의하게 증가하였고, 경과시간과 사상체질간의 교호작용은 없었다. 3. MBI, MAS 모두 각 항목과 기능별 분류군에서도 경과시간에 따른 평균점수의 변화는 P<0.001 범위에서 통계학적으로 유의하게 증가하여 한방치료의 효과가 있음을 보여주었다. 4. MBI와 MAS의 경과시간별 Pearson 상관성 분석결과 입원당시의 MBI와 입원당시의 MAS에서, 2주 후의 MBI와 입원당시, 2주 후, 4주 후의 MAS에서, 4주 후의 MBI와 입원당시, 2주, 4주 후의 MAS에서 모두 높은 상관성을 보여, 두 평가방법 간에는 상관성이 높다고 본다.

Assessing the repeatability of reflection seismic data in the presence of complex near-surface conditions CO2CRC Otway Project, Victoria, Australia (복잡한 천부구조하에서 반사법 탄성파자료의 반복성에 대한 평가, 호주, 빅토리아, CO2CRC Otway 프로젝트)

  • This study utilises repeated numerical tests to understand the effects of variable near-surface conditions on time-lapse seismic surveys. The numerical tests were aimed at reproducing the significant scattering observed in field experiments conducted at the Naylor site in the Otway Basin for the purpose of $CO_2$ sequestration. In particular, the variation of elastic properties of both the top soil and the deeper rugose clay/limestone interface as a function of varying water saturation were investigated. Such tests simulate the measurements conducted in dry and wet seasons and to evaluate the contribution of these seasonal variations to seismic measurements in terms of non-repeatability. Full elastic pre-stack modelling experiments were carried out to quantify these effects and evaluate their individual contributions. The results show that the relatively simple scattering effects of the corrugated near-surface clay/limestone interface can have a profound effect on time-lapse surveys. The experiments also show that the changes in top soil saturation could potentially affect seismic signature even more than the corrugated deeper surface. Overall agreement between numerically predicted and in situ measured normalised root-mean-square (NRMS) differences between repeated (time-lapse) 2D seismic surveys warrant further investigation. Future field studies will include in situ measurements of the elastic properties of the weathered zone through the use of 'micro Vertical Seismic Profiling (VSP)' arrays and very dense refraction surveys. The results of this work may impact on other areas not associated with $CO_2$ sequestration, such as imaging oil production over areas where producing fields suffer from a karstic topography, such as in the Middle East and Australia.

Salient musical elements and children's choice of objects in improvisational music therapy for children with autism (자폐아동의 즉흥음악치료에서 나타난 주요 음악요인 분석과 아동의 대상선정에 관한 연구)

  • Improvisational music therapy is known to promote social engagement in children with autism. This study investigated salient features that characterize the engagement of the child with autism and the therapist in improvisational music therapy. Through video analysis of the children's behavior, this study sets out to investigate what engages children with autism into mutual play with the therapist in improvisational music therapy by measuring the shared musical elements between the child and the therapist during musical synchronicity episodes and the children's choice of instruments. A repeated measures, a crossover design was employed in two different conditions (n = 10). Children were randomly assigned into two groups; group 1 participated music therapy first, followed by play therapy second. Group 2 followed the reverse order. Specific target behaviors were analyzed in the selected sessions 1, 4, 8 and 12. As expected, improvisational music therapy produced markedly more and longer events of musical synchronicity in children with autism than the play sessions with toys (p < .001). Rhythm and dynamic appeared to be the two most salient elements during musical synchronicity events between the child and the therapist. Observational findings confirmed that horns and whistles were the most frequently selected instruments in music therapy, whereas a dollhouse set was in play therapy by children with autism. The clinical implications and the details of these findings are discussed further.

Separate and Combined Effect of Cadmium and Nickel on Blood Pressure in Rats (흰쥐에서 카드뮴과 니켈이 혈압에 미치는 효과)

  • Objective : To verify the separate and combined effects of cadmium and nickel on blood pressure in rats. Methods : Following the daily administration of cadmium chloride$(CdCl_2)$ and nickel chloride$(NiCl_2)$ to rats both individually and in combination with intraperitoneal injection method for one week, systolic blood pressure of the tail was measured at 1 day and 5, 10, 20, 30 days after administration. Each substance was injected into the rats with 0.1 mg/kg bw and 1.0 mg/kg bw concentration. Results : After 0.1 mg/kg bw $CdCl_2$ was injected, a statistically significant difference was found as compared with the control group(only saline) after 1, 5 and 10 days. After 0.1 mg/kg bw $NiCl_2$ was injected, a statistically significant difference was not found compared with the control group. After 0.1 mg/kg bw $CdCl_2$ and 0.1 mg/kg bw $NiCl_2$ were injected simultaneously, a statistically significant difference was found as compared with the control group after 1,5 and 10 days and compared with 0.1 mg/kg bw $CdCl_2$ group after 5 days and as compared with 0.1 mg/kg bw $NiCl_2$ group after 5 and 10 days. After 1.0 mg/kg bw $CdCl_2$ was injected, a statistically significant difference was found as compared with the control group after 1, 5, 10 and 20 days. After 1.0 mg/kg bw $NiCl_2$ was injected, a statistically significant difference was found as compared with the control group after 1 day and 5 days. After 1.0 mg/kg bw $CdCl_2$ and 1.0 mg/kg bw $NiCl_2$ were injected in combination, a statistically significant difference was found after 1, 5, 10, 20 and 30 days as compared with 1.0 mg/kg bw $CdCl_2$ after 10, 20 and 30 days and as compared with 1.0 mg/kg bw $NiCl_2$ after 5, 10, 20 and 30 days. Conclusion : It was found that the effect of $CdCl_2$ on blood pressure was much more than $NiCl_2$ and a high concentration $CdCl_2\;and\;NiCl_2$ in combination delayed the recovery of blood pressure.

Kinematic Analysis of Lower Extremities during Stairs and Ramp Climbing with Older Adults (노인의 계단과 경사로 오르기 동안 하지의 운동학적 분석)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the kinemaitc gait parameter of lower extremities with different gait conditions(level walking, stairs, ramp) in old adults. Fourteen healthy older adults participated in this study and kinematic data were measured using 3D motion analysis system(Vicon, Oxford Metrics, England). Statistical analysis was used one-way ANOVA to know the difference of lower extremities angle at each gait phase with a different gait conditions. In sagittal plane, pelvic anterior tilt increased in stairs and ramp climbing and hip and knee flexion increased in stairs climbing but ankle dorsiflexion increased in ramp climbing. In frontal plane, pelvic was up in stairs and hip abduction and adduction more changed in stairs climbing than level walking. Knee varus and ankle inversion increased in stair climbing. In horizontal plane, pelvic internal rotation increased in stairs and ramp climbing and knee internal rotation increased in stairs climbing but ankle external rotation increased in stairs climbing. This results was shown that the stairs and ramp climbing changed the kinematic gait parameters of lower extremities in healthy old adults.

The Effect of 12weeks Pilates Mat Exercise on Body Composition and Lipid Metabolism in Obese Middle-aged Women (12주간 필라테스 매트 운동이 비만중년여성의 신체구성 및 지질대사에 미치는 영향)

  • This study aims to provide basic data for maintaining and promoting health of obese middle-aged women who are interested in various chronic diseases such as cardiovascular disease and coronary artery disease by comparing and analyzing the effect on body composition and lipid metabolism through a 12-week Pilates mat exercise program for obese middle-aged women. This study targeted middle-aged women residing in Gyeonggi-do A, who are obese middle-aged women in their 40s and 50s with a body fat ratio of 30% or more, and had no regular exercise in the past three months. Obese middle-aged women(n=19) were divided into two groups, the Pilates mat exercise program group(n=9) and the control group(n=10), conducting exercise for 60 minutes three times a week for 12 weeks. As a result of analysis, the exercise group had a positive effect on body weight, skeletal muscle mass, body fat mass, body fat percentage, and BMI in body composition, but not in the control group. In the lipid metabolism, the exercise group had a positive effect on TC, TG, HDL-C, LDL-C, and FFA, but not in the control group. These results suggest that the 12-week Pilates mat exercise program conducted in this study is an exercise program that can prevent cardiovascular and chronic diseases in obese middle-aged women.

The Effects of Finswimming Exercise on Electroencephalogram(EEG), Blood pressure, and Resting heart rate in Male Adolescents (핀수영 운동이 남자 청소년의 뇌파, 혈압 및 안정 시 심박수에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate effects of 12-weeks finswimming exercise on electroencephalogram(EEG), SBP, DBP, and RHR in male adolescents. Eighteen male adolescents participated in this study. They were separated into a Control group(CG; n=9) and Finswimming training group(FG; n=9). FG participated in Finswimming training for 12weeks, 60 minutes per day, 3 times a week. All data of electroencephalogram were analyzed by repeated measures two-way ANOVA and Data of SBP, DBP and RHR were analyzed by ANCOVA and Paired t-test. As a result, Alpha and SMR waves were significantly increased in FG; however, Alpha wave was significantly decreased in CG and Theta wave was significantly decreased in FG. There were significant interaction in Alpha, Theta, and SMR waves. SBP, DBP, and RHR were significantly decreased in FG and there were significant differences of RHR and SBP between groups; otherwise, there were no significant differences of DBP between groups. The results of this study showed that 12 weeks of Finswimming training positively effects on electroencephalogram(EEG), SBP, DBP, and RHR in male adolescents.
