A Study on the Application of SAW Process for Thin Plate of 3.2 Thickness in Ship Structure (선체외판부 3.2T 박판에 대한 SAW 용접 적용에 관한 연구)

  • Recently just as in the automobile industry, shipbuilders also try to reduce material consumption and weight in order to keep operating costs as low as possible and improve the speed of production. Naturally industry is ever searching for welding techniques offering higher power, higher productivity and a better quality. Therefore it is important to have a details research based on the various welding process applied to steel and other materials, and to have the ability both to counsel interested companies and to evaluate the feasibility of implementation of this process. Submerged-arc welding (SAW) process is usually used about 20% of shipbuilding. Similar to gas metal arc welding(GMAW), SAW involves formation of an arc between a continuously-fed bare wire electrode and the work-piece. The process uses a flux to generate protective gases and slag, and to add alloying elements to the weld pool and a shielding gas is not required. Prior to welding, a thin layer of flux powder is placed on the work-piece surface. The arc moves along the joint line and as it does so, excess flux is recycled via a hopper. Remaining fused slag layers can be easily removed after welding. As the arc is completely covered by the flux layer, heat loss is extremely low. This produces a thermal efficiency as high as 60% (compared with 25% for manual metal arc). SAW process offers many advantages compared to conventional CO2 welding process. The main advantages of SAW are higher welding speed, facility of workers, less deformation and better than bead shape & strength of welded joint because there is no visible arc light, welding is spatter-free, fully-mechanized or automatic process, high travel speed, and depth of penetration and chemical composition of the deposited weld metal. However it is difficult to application of thin plate according to high heat input. So this paper has been focused on application of the field according to SAW process for thin plate in ship-structures. For this purpose, It has been decided to optimized welding condition by experiments, relationship between welding parameters and bead shapes, mechanical test such as tensile and bending. Also finite element(FE) based numerical comparison of thermal history and welding residual stress in A-grade 3.2 thickness steel of SAW been made in this study. From the result of this study, It makes substantial saving of time and manufacturing cost and raises the quality of product.

A Study on the Structural Performance of Hybrid Studs Subjected to Compression and Torsion (압축과 비틂을 동시에 받는 복합스터드의 구조적 성능에 관한 연구)

  • Cold-formed steel studs that are being used as load-bearing members of wall panels for steel houses have a problem with their insulation due to the heat bridging of their web. Some additional thermal insulating materials should be used. To solve this problem, the new-concept hybrid stud, which consists of a galvanized steel sheet (t = 1.0 m - 12.0 m) and a GFRP panel (t = 4.0-6.0 mm), has recently been developed. An investigation on the structural behavior and the strength capacity of this new hybrid stud has been conducted so that it can be used in load-bearing wall panels of residential buildings. This paper describes the axial compression-torsion test results of the hybrid studs under both axial compression and torsion using ATTM. The main factors of the test were the stud length, the magnitude of the initial compressive force, and the loading method of the monotonic or cyclic loading. The torsion was applied increasingly while the initial compression was kept constant to the failure of the hybrid section. The advanced analysis results obtained form the finite element procedure that considered the material properties of the high-strength galvanized steel and the GFRP were compared with the test results for verification.

Deflection Evaluation of the Constructing-load Carrying Capacity for Deep Decking Floor System Reinforced with Both Ends Cap Plates (캡 플레이트로 단부 보강한 춤이 깊은 데크의 시공중 처짐성능평가)

  • If of application of the deep deckting floor in long span more than 6m, the deflection caused by the construction load occurred high. Because the constructing-works and safety by this deflection, take actually supports to laborers working on the deck. However, installed supports are having difficultly such as the restricted passage, deficiency of working space, and lowering of efficiency. And toward-opening deck is seen as local buckling of web plate, flexural-torsional buckling, and gradually opening of corrugated decking. In this study, we will suggest a deep decking floor system that reinforced with both ends cap plates for toward-opneing decking change from opening to closing. The constructing deflection of a deep decking more than 6m must be satified 30mm and L/180 as proposed. Full-scale field tests loading by sand conducted a deep decking reinforced with and without cap plate. In conclusion, the specimen reinforced with cap plates have shown that to ensure the negative moment $wl^2/18$. And constructing-deflection of deep decking shown that to satisfy the evaluation value (L/180 or 30mm).

Effect of the particle size on the electrical contact in selective electro-deposition of copper (구리의 선택적 전착에서 결정 입자의 크기가 전기적 접촉성에 미치는 영향)

  • With the advent of ULSI, many problems in previous metallization techniques and interconnection materials have become more serious. In this work, selective deposition of copper to fill the submicron contact has been tried. After forming electro-deposited copper films on p-type (100) silicon wafer using 0.75M $CuSO_4{\cdot}$5H_2O$ as an electrolyte, the effect of deposition time, current density and concentration of an additive on film properties were investigated. Film thickness, particle size and resistivity were analyzed by Alpha Step, SEM and 4 - point probe measurement respectively. The deposition rate was about $0.5-0.6\mu\textrm{m}$/min at $2A/dm^2$ and the particle size increased with increasing current density. The resistivities of electro-deposited copper films were about $3-6{\mu}{\Omega}{\cdot}$cm for the particle size above $4000{\AA}$. By the addition of 0.2 g/l gelatin, the particle size was reduced to less than $0.1{\mu}m $ and selective plugging of copper on submicron contacts could be successfully achieved.

  • 전자부품의 내부접속 및 파워반도체의 다이본딩과 같은 1차실장에는 고온환경에서의 사용과 2차실장에서의 재용융방지를 위해 높은 액상선온도 및 고상선온도를 필요로 하여, Pb-5wt%Sn, Pb-2.5wt%Ag로 대표되는 납성분 85%이상의 고온솔더가 널리 사용되고 있다. 생태계와 인체에 대한 납의 유해성이 보고된 이래, 무연솔더에 대한 연구가 활발히 진행되어 왔으나, Sn-Ag-Cu계로 대표되는 Sn계 합금으로 대체 중인 중온용 솔더와는 달리, 고온용 솔더에 대해서는 대체합금에 대한 연구가 미흡한 실정이다. 대체재의 부재로 인해 기존의 납을 다량함유한 솔더로 1차실장이 지속됨으로서, 2차실장의 무연화에도 불구하고 전자부품 및 기기의 재활용에 큰 어려움을 겪고 있다. 지금까지 고온용 무연솔더로서는 융점에 근거해 Au-(Sn, Ge, Si)계, Bi-Ag계, Zn-(Al, Sn)계의 극히 제한된 합금계만이 보고되어 왔다. Au계 솔더는 현재 플럭스를 사용하지 않는 광학, 디스플레이 분야 등 고부가가치 공정에 사용되고 있으나, 합금가격이 매우 비싸며 가공성이 나빠 대체재료로서는 적합하지 않다. Bi-Ag계 솔더 또한 취성합금으로 와이어 및 박판으로 가공하는데 어려움이 크며, 솔더로서 중요한 특성중 하나인 전기전도도 및 열전도도가 나쁜 편이다. 이에 비해, Zn계 합금은 비교적 낮은 합금가격, 적절한 가공성과 뛰어난 인장강도, 우수한 전기전도도 및 열전도도를 지녀, 고온용솔더 대체재료의 유력한 후보로 생각된다.이전 연구에서, 필자의 연구그룹은 Zn-Sn계 합금을 고온용 무연솔더로서 제안한 바 있다. Zn-Sn계 합금은 충분히 높은 융점과 함께, 금속간화합물이 없는 미세조직, 우수한 기계적 특성, 높은 전기전도도 및 열전도도 등의 장점을 나타내었다. 본 연구에서는 기초합금특성상 고온솔더로서 다양한 장점을 지닌 Zn-30wt%Sn합금을 고온용 솔더의 대표적인 적용의 하나인 다이본딩에 적용하여, 접합부의 강도 및 미세조직, 열피로 신뢰성에 대해 분석을 함으로서 실제 공정에의 적용가능성에 대해 검토하였다. Zn-30wt%Sn을 이용해 Au/TiN(Titanium nitride) 코팅한 Si다이를 AlN-DBC(aluminum nitride-direct bonded copper)기판에 접합한 결과, 양측에 완전히 젖은 기공이 없는 양호한 다이접합부를 얻었으며, 솔더내부에는 금속간화합물을 형성하지 않았다. Si다이와의 계면에는 TiN만이 존재하였으며, Cu와의 계면에는 Cu로부터 $Cu_5Zn_8,\;CuZn_5$의 반응층을 형성하였다. 온도사이클시험을 통한 열피로특성평가에서, Zn-30wt%Sn를 이용한 다이접합부는 1500사이클 지점에서 Cu와 Cu-Zn금속간화합물의 사이에서 피로균열이 형성되며, 접합강도가 크게 감소하였다. 열피로특성 향상을 위해 Cu표면에 TiN코팅을 하여 Zn-30wt%Sn 솔더로 다이접합한 결과, Si다이와 기판 양측에 TiN만으로 구성된 계면을 형성하였으며, TEM관찰을 통해 Zn-30wt%Sn과 극히 미세한 접합계면이 형성하고 있음을 확인하였다. Zn-wt%30Sn솔더와 TiN층의 병용으로 2000사이클까지 미세조직의 변화 및 강도저하가 없는 극히 안정된 고신뢰성의 다이접합부를 얻을 수가 있었다.

  • 최근, 유한한 에너지 자원의 한계와 지구 온난화 등으로 세계의 제조 산업은 새로운 국면을 맞이하고 있으며, 특히, 자동차 산업은 화석연료를 주 에너지원으로 사용한다는 점과 이 연료를 연소시킬 때 발생하는 이산화탄소가 지구 온난화의 주된 원인이 될 수 있다는 점에서 상기 문제들을 해결하기 위한 다양한 방법에 주목하고 있다. 그 중에서 자동차의 생산기술 측면에서 볼 때, 가장 중요한 이슈는 차체 경량화다. 자동차 차체는 자동차를 구성하고 있는 여러 가지 부품 중에서 약 40% 정도의 무게 비율을 차지하고 있기 때문에, 차체 경량화는 연비향상과 이산화탄소 배출가스 감소와 직접적인 관계를 가지고 있다. 다양한 차체 경량화 방법 중에서 가장 쉽게 접근할 수 있는 방법이 경량소재 적용에 의한 경량화 방법이다. 현재, 탄소섬유 강화 플라스틱과 같이 무게 절감 비율을 최대화 할 수 있는 소재들도 개발되어 일부 적용되고 있지만, 일반적으로 차체 경량화 소재로 가장 널리 사용되고 있는 소재는 알루미늄 합금이며, 이에 대한 차체 적용 비율이 점차로 높아지는 추세에 있다. 이에, 본 연구에서는 알루미늄 합금이 차체에 적용되었을 때의 장단점을 살펴보고, 알루미늄 합금을 적용한 차체 생산과정에서 유의해야 될 사항들과 이를 바탕으로 하는 생산성 극대화 방안에 대하여 고찰하였다. 먼저, 기존의 알루미늄 저항 점 용접공법의 단점을 최소화하고 대량생산 체계에 적합하도록 개발된 새로운 개념의 저항 점 용접 시스템에 대해 그 성능과 양산성을 검증하였다. 구리 전극과 알루미늄 피용접물 사이에 프로세스 테이프를 삽입하여 용접하는 이 시스템은 열전도성이 큰 알루미늄 용접부에서 저전류의 조건에서도 효과적으로 균일한 발열현상이 발생하게 하였으며, 전극 팁 드레싱 없이 모든 용접점이 항상 동일한 조건에서 용접이 이루어질 수 있도록 하였다. 용접 조건 설정에 있어서도 용접전류가 통전되는 순간에 전극 가압력을 자유로이 변형시켜 용접부 크랙 발생을 최소화할 수 있음을 확인하였다. 알루미늄의 또 다른 대표적인 접합방법인 아크용접에 있어서는 용접 입열량을 조절하여 용접변형을 최소화 할 수 있는 아크용접 시스템에 대해 양산성과 적용 타당성을 검토하였다. 와이어 송급 방향을 자유자재로 바꿀 수 있는 이 시스템의 특성에 의해 스패터를 최소화하면서 용융금속이 효과적으로 모재에 금속이행 될 수 있음을 확인하였으며, 판재, 압출재, 및 다이캐스팅재 등 다양한 차체 소재에 대한 용접 가능성 및 미그-레이저 하이브리드 용접과의 비교분석을 통하여 차체 박판 용접에서도 최소의 열변형으로 효과적으로 사용될 수 있음을 보였다.

A Study on Welding Deformation of thin plate block in PCTC (PCTC 박판 블록 용접 변형에 관한 연구)

  • The use of thin plate increases due to the need for light weight in large ship. Thin plate is easily distorted and has residual stress by welding heat. Therefore, the thin plate should be carefully joined to minimize the welding deformation which costs time and money for repair. For one effort to reduce welding deformation, it is very useful to predict welding deformation before welding execution. There are two methods to analyze welding deformation. One is simple linear analysis. The other is nonlinear analysis. The simple linear analysis is elastic analysis using the equivalent load method or inherent strain method from welding experiments. The nonlinear analysis is thermo-elastic analysis which gives consideration to the nonlinearity of material dependent on temperature and time, welding current, voltage, speed, sequence and constraint. In this study, the welding deformation is analyzed by using thermo-elastic method for PCTC(Pure Car and Truck Carrier) which carries cars and trucks. PCTC uses thin plates of 6mm thickness which is susceptible to welding heat. The analysis dimension is 19,200mm(length) * 13,825mm(width) * 376mm(height). MARC and MENTAT are used as pre and post processor and solver. The boundary conditions are based on the real situation in shipyard. The simulations contain convection and gravity. The material of the thin block is mild steel with $235N/mm^2$ yield strength. Its nonlinearity of conductivity, specific heat, Young's modulus and yield strength is applied in simulations. Welding is done in two pass. First pass lasts 2,100 second, then it rests for 900 second, then second pass lasts 2,100 second and then it rests for 20,000 second. The displacement at 0 sec is caused by its own weight. It is maximum 19mm at the free side. The welding line expands, shrinks during welding and finally experiences shrinkage. It results in angular distortion of thin block. Final maximum displacement, 17mm occurs around welding line. The maximum residual stress happens at the welding line, where the stress is above the yield strength. Also, the maximum equivalent plastic strain occurs at the welding line. The plastic strain of first pass is more than that of second pass. The flatness of plate in longitudinal direction is calculated in parallel with the direction of girder and compared with deformation standard of ${\pm}15mm$. Calculated value is within the standard range. The flatness of plate in transverse direction is calculated in perpendicular to the direction of girder and compared with deformation standard of ${\pm}6mm$. It satisfies the standard. Buckle of plate is calculated between each longitudinal and compared with the deformation standard. All buckle value is within the standard range of ${\pm}6mm$.

Ecological study on Microcotyle sebastisci of parasiting of cultured rocfish, Sebastes schlegeli, in Korea (남해안 양식산 조피볼락에 기생한 Microcotyle sebastisci의 감염률 변동)

  • We report on the variation of infection and histopathological change of Microcotyle sebastisci parasitic on cultured rockfish, Sebastes schlegeli, in Namhae Islands and Kamak Bay from April to October in 1995. Microcotylosis due to Microcotyle sebastisci occurred among cultured rockfish, Sebastes schlegeli. This parasite was not found on the host fish from June to July. Parasite sites were mainly consist of 2nd and 3rd gill arch`s filaments of rockfish. Also, the sites were secreted in large quantity of mucus with a very small bleeding. In Namhae Islands, maximum values of prevalence, relative density and mean intensity were found on September 1995, as 40.0%, 30.7 and 76.8, respectively. In Kamak Bay, maximum values of prevalence, relative density and mean intensity were obtained on October 1995, as 46.0%, 40.5 and 88.0, respectively. Histopathological changes of the heavily infested gills were showed necrosis, epithelium of the gill filaments underwent hyperplasia with fusion of the lamella and filamental clubbing. And a bacterial colony is invaded on the surface of lamella epithelium.

Spatial and Vertical Distribution of Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons in Sediment of the Shipyard Area in Gohyeon Bay (고현만 조선소 주변해역 퇴적물내 다환방향족탄화수소의 시공간적 분포특성)

  • Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), one of ubiquitous organic pollutants in marine environments, are major toxic components of petroleum and are produced during the incomplete combustion of organic materials. As shipyards are located inside of natural or artificial semi-enclosed bay, even a relatively weak environmental disturbance by ship-building activity can cause severe damage to marine ecosystem in the bay. Many studies of pollution in shipyard area have been focused on the antifouling agent, like tributyltin. This study aimed to investigate the effect of ship-building activity on PAH contamination. Total PAHs concentration was higher nearby and inside shipyard area than outside, implying that shipyard could be one of major source area of PAH contamination to pose harmful effects to surrounding environments. Through PAH profile and source recognition index, the source of PAHs inputs in this area was estimated to originate from both petrogenic and pyrogenic origin. PAH levels showed a significant correlation with total butyltins, indicating that ship-building activity influenced PAH concentration and distribution. Vertical distribution of PAHs historically confirmed the correlation between shipbuilding activity and PAHs contamination.

Three Dimensional Vibration Analysis of Thick, Circular and Annular Plates with Nonlinear Thickness Variation (비선형 두께 변분을 갖는 두꺼운 원형판과 환형판의 3차원적 진동해석)

  • A three dimensional (3D) method of analysis is presented for determining the free vibration frequencies and mode shapes of thick, circular and annular plates with nonlinear thickness variation along the radial direction. Unlike conventional plate theories, which are mathematically two dimensional (2D), the present method is based upon the 3D dynamic equations of elasticity. Displacement components u/sub s/, u/sub z/, and u/sub θ/ in the radial, thickness, and circumferential directions, respectively, are taken to be sinusoidal in time, periodic in θ, and algebraic polynomials in the s and z directions. Potential (strain) and kinetic energies of the plates are formulated, and the Ritz method is used to solve the eigenvalue problem thus yielding upper bound values of the frequencies by minimizing the frequencies. As the degree of the polynomials is increased, frequencies converge to the exact values. Convergence to four digit exactitude is demonstrated for the first five frequencies of the plates. Numerical results we presented for completely free, annular and circular plates with uniform linear, and quadratic variations in thickness. Comparisons are also made between results obtained from the present 3D and previously published thin plate (2D) data.
