  • Ball balance belong to a kind of automatic balancers opten referred to as direct balancer or passive mass systems. In such systems the balancing is achieved with free masses. One of the most prevalent problems encountered in washing is the vibration during spin cycle. The primary cause of this vibration is mass unbalance associated with non unform distribution of clothes. Front loading type machine of European style, especially, has inherent unbalance mass due to its shape and this then makes the vibration worse than top loading type machine, which is more popular in Korea. Since the mass distribution of cloths is random and can not be predicted in advance, direct automatic balances appear to be the only feasible alternative. The results form computer simulation and experimental testing will be presented together with stability implications.

  • One feature of a computer simulation experiment, different from a physical experiment, is that the output is often deterministic. Moreover the codes are computationally very expensive to run. This paper deals with the design and analysis of computer experiments(DACE) which is a relatively new statistical research area. We model the response of computer experiments as the realization of a stochastic process. This approach is basically the same as using a spatial linear model. Applications to the optimal mechanical designing and model calibration problems are illustrated. Algorithms for selecting the best spatial linear model are also proposed.

천해에서의 고주파 해저면 후방산란강도 측정 (High-frequency bottom backscattering strength measurements in shallow water)

  • 고주파를 이용한 해저면 후방산란강도를 진해 해군사관학교 내의 실험해역에서 측정하였다. 측정된 후방산란강도를 수평입사각의 함수로 나타낸 후 Jackson 모델과 비교, 분석하였다. 해저면 구성성분을 파악하기 위해 다이버에 의해 코어링이 채취되었으며, 해저면 환경파라메터들은 Hamilton 모델에 의해 산출되었다. 분석 결과, 해저면이 거칠 경우 고주파 해저면 후방산란강도는 퇴적층 내부의 체적산란강도 보다 해저면 거칠기에 의한 산란의 영향을 많이 받는 것을 알 수 있었다.

  • According to 'Metropolitan Traffic Network Plan' announced in 2001, radial railways which connect Seoul with satellite cities around Seoul appear gradually. And followed by this, social demand for circular metropolitan railways that can connect the radial railways horizontally is increasing. But existing plans about circular metropolitan railways has limits to propose only passing cities of the railways. If there is no detailed guideline for circular metropolitan railways, the each railway for circular line will be constructed individually and then it will be not effective circular railways totally. Additionally that railway project will be easily interrupted by popular complaints. Therefore "The basic plan for circular metropolitan railways" is needful to guide a right direction for circular metropolitan railways. In this paper, rough track diagram of 'node' station for circular metropolitan railways is proposed. It is essential part of the basic plan. If the track diagram of a node is publicized in advance and individually lines of circular metropolitan railways is enforced to followed it, all lines will has rich circular functionality. Finally, effective circular metropolitan railways can be built.

  • The Railroad that is representative transportation of Low Coal and Green Growth is industry that meet and serve unspecificness many customer unexpensive price as industry doing against as social overhead capital. Present our country railroad achievement is real condition that is not coming out in eternal in the red management. Accordingly, In this research, analyze success factor of management black-ink balance of railroad advanced nation such as Japan, France and Compare with our country and grasps problem of present city railroad fare system. Finally, alleviate fare burden of customer through diversification of fare system service such as establishing point uniformly for railroad fare that introduce first in Japan JR Kyushu railroad and propose the improvement of management of railway operation organization through demand enlargement.

  • Benign nonepithelial tumors of the thyroid gland are very rare and include lesions such as vascular tumors, smooth muscle tumors and neurogenic tumors. Schwannoma and neurofibroma are benign neoplasms of mesenchymal origin which frequently occur in the head and neck, but their origin within the thyroid gland has rarely been reported. Recently, we encountered two cases of neurogenic tumor of thyroid gland(l schwannoma, 1 neurofibroma) and report them to support the view that Schwannoma and neurofibroma may occur in thyroid gland, which is an unusual site, and are recognizable entities.

타이어 설계 인자들에 대한 회귀모형의 수립 (Building Regression Models for Tire Design Factors)

  • Two regression models for explaining the tire performances (especially conering coefficients) by tire design and experimental factors are built. One is the ordinary regression model, and the explaining variables in the model are selected by a stepwise method. The other model is built by a modern nonparametric regression technique, called projection pursuit regression. Then two models are compared and combined, so that the relationship between the tire performances and design factors are well figured out. The optimal experimental design issue and future research ideas are also discussed.

Comparison of Parameter Estimation Methods in A Kappa Distribution

  • This paper deals with the comparison of parameter estimation methods in a 3-parameter Kappa distribution which is sometimes used in flood frequency analysis. The method of moment estimation(MME), L-moment estimation(L-ME), and maximum likelihood estimation(MLE) are applied to estimate three parameters. The performance of these methods are compared by Monte-carlo simulations. Especially for computing MME and L-ME, ike dimensional nonlinear equations are simplied to one dimensional equation which is calculated by the Newton-Raphson iteration under constraint. Based on the criterion of the mean squared error, the L-ME is recommended to use for small sample size $(n\leq100)$ while MLE is good for large sample size.

  • ATS Systems are activated against the over-running and the crashes between trains. Up to now, ATS Systems have been constituted analog systems adopting the changed frequency method or amplitude modulation, which is impossible to give any essential informations. In this paper, it is dealt with digital ATS Systems which are replaced the former ATS Systems in the advanced nation of railways. Especially, this paper shows the possibility of any developments for the digital ATS Systems by the experiment of digital ATS Systems by Frequency Shift Keying method.
