Based on the modifier 'K', the Republic of Korea has been drawing attention from around the world in various fields. Therefore, if you look at a representative field, it can be called the beauty, that is, the cosmetics industry. In particular, paying attention to the fact that interest in appearance has been increasing in recent years, regardless of age or gender, we intend to explore ways to create competitiveness in the industry. In particular, from this perspective, we tried to deal with the company case of AMOREPACIFIC, one of Korea's leading cosmetic companies, and seek the direction of development through analysis of corporate competitiveness. Therefore, as an analysis method for this study, we tried to subdivide and examine the factors that have been possible for a company to succeed using the diamond model of Michael Porter. Based on the factors derived after that, we intend to present the direction for the company to discharge in the future.
Convergence education, which is operated by many engineering colleges, is mainly led by government-led projects. Convergence majors are established in consideration of the research field of the university professors rather than systematically analyzing the needs of the industry. The purpose of this study is to present the directions of convergence technology education related to new industry fields by analyzing industry needs. Participants were 299 industrial workers in various fields. Instrument consisted of three parts: necessity for convergence education, demand for convergence new technology education from industry perspective, and opinions about undergraduate convergence education. As a result, it was found that the level of awareness of industry needs for fusion technology education was high, and it was confirmed that there is a high demand for IoT convergence, bio-health, advanced new material, and renewable energy fields among convergence technology fields. In addition, the results of the industry demand for convergence new technology education were presented. The suggestions for expectations, problems, and improvements in undergraduate education were presented and implications for convergence technology education were discussed based on the results of the study.
This study investigates the optical characteristics of InGaN multiple quantum wells(MQWs) light emitting diodes(LEDs) on planar sapphire substrates(PSSs), nano-sized PSS(NPSS) and micro-sized PSS(MPSS). We obtain the results as the patterning size of the sapphire substrates approach the nanometer scale: The light from the back side of the device increases and the total light extraction becomes larger than the MPSS- and planar-LEDs. The experiment is conducted by Monte Carlo ray-tracing, which is regarded as one of the most suitable ways to simulate light propagation in LEDs. The results show fine consistency between simulation and measurement of the samples with different sized patterned substrates. Notably, light from the back side becomes larger in the NPSS LEDs. We strongly propose that the increase in the light intensity of NPSS LEDs is due to an abnormal optical distribution, which indicates an increase of extraction probability through NPSS.

This study aimed to assess the potential use of Paeonia lactiflora Pall. seed cake (PSC). The extraction yield of the PSC extract ranged from 22% to 45%, depending on the extraction solvent used. The PSC extract showed significantly higher levels of total polyphenols and flavonoids contents, and radical scavenging compared to the P. lactiflora seed oil (PSO) extract. The antibacterial activity of the PSC extract was superior to that of the positive control and remained effective for up to 48 hours. Furthermore, when the PSC extract was applied, it significantly reduced the inflammatory response induced by LPS, demonstrating the anti-inflammatory activity of PSC. This study confirmed the effective bioactivity not only in PSO, but also in the PSC extract, highlighting the potential of PSC as a bio-health ingredient.

With the development of genomics, wearable device and IT/NT, a vast amount of bio-medical data are generated recently. Also, healthcare industries based on big-data are booming and big-data technology based on bio-medical data is rising rapidly as a core technology for improving the national health and aged society. A pathway is the biological deep knowledge that represents the relations of dynamics and interaction among proteins, genes and cells by a network. A pathway is wildly being used as an important part of a bio-medical big-data analysis. However, a pathway analysis requires a lot of time and effort because a pathway is very diverse and high volume. Also, multidimensional analysis systems for various pathways are nonexistent even now. In this paper, we proposed a pathway analysis system that collects user interest pathways from KEGG pathway database that supports the most widely used pathways, constructs a network based on a hierarchy structure of pathways and analyzes the relations of dynamics and interaction among pathways by clustering and selecting core pathways from the network. Finally, to verify the superiority of our pathway analysis system, we evaluate the performance of our system in various experiments.

This study was conducted to empirically analyze the effects and interactions among beneficial bacteria, commensal bacteria, and acne bacteria, which are factors in the skin microbiomes, on detrimental bacteria by 289 people, who are 20 to 49 years old among Koreans. As a result of multiple regression models using bio big data of skin microbiomes, when the difference in skin microbiomes according to the sex and age of the subjects was controlled, the beneficial bacteria showed a negative (-) effect on the detrimental bacteria, while the commensal and acne bacteria showed a positive (+) effect. Particularly, the negative (-) effect of beneficial bacteria on detrimental bacteria was different through interaction with acne bacteria according to the level of commensal bacteria. These results demonstrate that the activation of beneficial bacteria inhibits detrimental bacteria, and the effect of skin microbiomes on detrimental bacteria is balanced with skin microbiomes through interaction with independent influence. Therefore, it is suggested that when studying skin microbiomes products to help the proliferation of beneficial bacteria and to create a skin environment that inhibits detrimental bacteria in the personalized cosmetics manufacturing industry, it is necessary to consider the independent effects and interactions among skin microbiome factors together.

The main industries in Chungcheongbuk-do are the smart IT parts; bio-health; and transportation machinery, materials and parts. The transportation, machinery, materials and parts (TMMP) industry is a key source technology for environmentally friendly and intelligent vehicles related to future vehicles in the machinery sector. Business support projects to improve this industry are currently underway. In this study, the number of enterprises, number of employees, amount of shipment, and added value of the enterprises in Chungbuk area were analyzed for the downstream and rear industries of the transportation, machinery, materials, and parts industry to set targets and directions for the technical support projects during the enterprise support. In particular, for the SMEs with less than 50 employees, the changes in the value added per enterprise were analyzed according to the period from the year of foundation. In the case of the rear industry, the value added by companies within three years after foundation has decreased gradually each year, so technical support is needed at the beginning of the startup. Companies between the ages of five and nine years are showing a fluctuating trend each year. Therefore, it is necessary to support business diversification or find new items.
The development of digital technology is changing the paradigm of the healthcare industry to preventive and consumer-oriented. The combination of the ICT industry and the bio-healthcare industry is emerging as a core industry in the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. The Korean government has also selected the bio-healthcare industry as one of the three key future development industries. In May, the government announced its bio-health industry innovation strategy and set a goal of 300,000 employees. Therefore, analyzing the effects of employment on the related industries of the digital bio-healthcare industry is very important for the establishment of future industrial and technology development policies. The research method restructures the integrated classification of 32 industries into 34, including the digital bio-healthcare industry, using the classification criteria of the government and professional institutions, and then reorganizes the digital bio-healthcare industry into eight industries classified as one industry group. The analysis data was taken from the Bank of Korea's 2019 data. Various trigger coefficients and ripple effects coefficients were rewritten using the analysis method of the Input-output Statistics. The analysis of the results compares the employment-induced effects of the digital bio-healthcare industry and the ripple effects of related industries in production, investment and value-added. In addition, in terms of investment effect, the effects of in-house and related industries were compared. It is hoped that the results of this study will be used to establish employment and industrial policies.

Ginkgo (Ginkgo biloba L.) seeds, called 'Baekqwa', were extracted from 70% ethanol to investigate the whitening effect and to confirm the application potential as a cosmetic material. Ginkgo seed ethanol extracts (GBE) were treated with B16F10 melanoma cells, and melanin contents and tyrosinase, which is the main enzyme concerning the synthesis process of melanin, inhibitory activity were confirmed. As a result, there were inhibited in a concentration-dependent manner, and GBE also significantly reduced the protein expression and mRNA levels of tyrosinase, tyrosinase-related protein-1, -2 (TRP-1, -2), and their upstream transcription factor, microphthalmia-associated transcription factor (MITF). These results suggest that GBE could be used as an effective whitening agent that has an inhibitory effect on melanin production by regulating the expression and degradation of MITF in melanocytes.

Dengue virus transmission is a viral infection disease between humans and Aedes mosquitoes. Dengue is ubiquitous throughout the tropics and subtropical zones, where 1/3 of the global population live. The weather in Korea is also changing to subtropical weather, resulting in increased vulnerable Korean population to dengue virus transmission. It is important to control and prevent the dengue risk with track-recording & monitoring system. It is also required to have the control system to treat and monitor dengue patients with various cases such as regions, ages, genders according to the track-record of the disease. In this paper, we developed a Dengue Control & Prevention System, which can monitor and control dengue outbreaks in real-time with in-vitro diagnostic devices. Dengue Control & Prevention System is composed of in-vitro diagnostic device, which is a fluorescent immunoassay, and real-time monitoring system. In the future, we expect that our Dengue Control & Prevention System can be upgraded to have various disease information from Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency for government policies and diseases control in Korea.
