Comparing Construct and Predictive Validities of the Measurement of Children's Approximate Number Acuity Depending on Numerosity Comparison Task Format (수량 비교 과제의 형식에 따른 아동의 수 민감도 측정치의 구성 타당도 및 예측 타당도 비교)

  • Approximate number sense(hereafter, ANS) is the ability to compare and operate upon numerosity information. The numerosity comparison task is used to measure ANS. However, there is considerable variance among previous reports of ANS acuity which may be related to different task formats used. Here, we aim to investigate whether the format of the numerosity comparison task influences measurements of ANS acuity. We compared two task formats; 1) an intermixed format presenting two intermixed arrays of black and white dots, and 2) a side-by-side format showing two arrays of dots side by side. The intermixed format likely makes additional demands on general cognitive resources for inhibitory control, selective attention, or visuospatial working memory. The performance on the intermixed format was significantly lower than that of the side-by-side format resulting in an underestimation of ANS acuity compared to the expected trajectory of ANS development. In addition, the ANS acuity measured from only the side-by-side format was correlated with children's mathematical achievement and age. Our results demonstrate that measurement of ANS from the side-by-side format has higher construct and predictive validity compared to that of the intermixed format.

A Development of Sensitivity Measurement for Relations in Communication Network Operation (통신 네트워크 운용을 위한 민감도 측정 시스템 개발)

  • This paper is to measure the sensitivity of relations in communication network operation. In order to procure an important adequacy in the network operation and quality improvement, it is necessary to increase network operation efficiency and analyze the characteristic of network operation. Finally, we analyze costing appropriate operation, propose profit increase scheme and apply realistic business. First of all it's important to improve and estimate a proper operating cost thoroughly and comprehensively. Because the important issue of this process is quality process and this quality process occurs customers' satisfaction, therefore, to make a mutual relation in-between individual change of each element is to analyze a reasonable standard. So, for this reason we study on structuring nice moods for network operation and estimating many scenarios for measuring efficiency. Especially those in economic and sensitivity based. It will be the development of analyzing methods which suites the service and communication system. The result of this study gives a basis for making a flexible and highly predictable system by pre configured sensitivity analysis of each scenarios.

Measurement of Wavefront Aberrations in Off-Axis Parabolic Mirrors and its Dependence on the Misalignment (레이저 빔의 파면 측정을 통한 비축 포물 거울의 성능 평가 및 정렬 오차 민감도에 관한 연구)

  • Wavefront aberrations of a laser beam that was reflected from an off-axis parabolic (OAP) mirror were measured to evaluate the optical performance of the OAP mirror. For a diamond turned OAP mirror, the root-mean-square (rms) value of higher-order aberrations was only $0.03{\mu}m$ for the laser beam size of about 34 mm. The other OAP mirror which was polished at a domestic company had the rms value of higher-order aberrations of $2.07{\mu}m$ for the same beam size. Although the diamond turned OAP mirror was well fabricated to have a small amount of aberrations, the aberrations were induced by the misalignment of the OAP mirror. Especially, 0 degree astigmatism increased with the sensitivity of $0.372{\mu}m/mrad$ when the OAP mirror was tilted in the tangential plane, which agreed well with the calculated results using a commercial ray tracing software.

Estimation of Diagnostic Range for Measurement Tools, while BMD Testing to Health Examination in Transitional Ages (생애전환기 건강진단 골밀도 검사시 측정도구에 따른 진단범위의 유효성 평가)

  • The aim of this study was to determine the effectiveness of diagnostic range for BMD measurement tools(DEXA, QUS, and RA) to health examination in transitional ages. In standard T-score -2.5 of DEXA, cutoff value by RA is -1.675(sensitivity: 70.0%, specificity: 63.7%) and cutoff value by QUS is -1.733(sensitivity: 70.4, specificity: 59.5%), also T-score -3.0 of DEXA, cutoff value by RA is -2.325(sensitivity: 70.0%, specificity: 42.9%) and cutoff value by QUS is -2.323(sensitivity: 70.4, specificity: 56.8%). There was, however, no significant difference in standard DEXA(lumbar spine and femur) between RA and QUS by repeat measurement(precision), and correlation were without effect. ROC analysis showed that all methods are qualified for BMD measurement tools to health examination in transitional ages; however, the different sensitivities and specificities of the methods, as well as age and gender, calibration parameters for diagnostic tests have to be considered.

  • A novel sensitive and non-invasive ring-type glucose probe was designed and measured. The magnitude and phase of return loss change with different concentration of the glucose solution inside the loop structure. Ring type probe is more advantageous than open ended probe to measure electrical characteristics under the skin. The maximum difference of return loss was 0.94 for the concentration difference of 0% and 20% at 285MHz and more sensitive in low frequency.

  • 본 논문에서는 PMF와 FBG로 구성된 PDL 기반 사냑 간섭계를 이용하여 편광 간섭형 광섬유 압력 센서를 구현하였다. 여러 종류의 PMF들에서 압력 민감도를 비교하기 위해, 서로 다른 세 종류의 보우-타이형 PMF를 센서부로 사용하였다. 구현된 광섬유 압력 센서를 이용하여 0~0.3 MPa의 범위에서 압력 측정을 수행하였으며, 최대 압력 민감도는 근사적으로 -15.07 nm/MPa로 측정되었고, 센서의 선형성을 나타내는 $R^2$값은 ~0.992로 측정되었다. 제안된 센서는 FBG를 이용하여 외부 온도 변화의 보상이 가능하면서도, 이전의 편광유지 광자결정 광섬유 기반 압력 센서에 비해 압력 민감도를 4배까지 증가시킬 수 있었다.

Simultaneous Measurement of External Refractive Index and Temperature by Using a Side-polished Fiber Bragg Grating with a Polymer Overlay (폴리머 코팅된 측면 연마 단주기 격자 기반 외부 굴절률 및 온도 동시 측정 센서 연구)

  • A hybrid grating sensing device based on a side-polished fiber Bragg grating (FBG) with a polymer overlay is proposed for simultaneous measurement of external refractive index and temperature. The side-polished FBG, which is insensitive to ambient index change, is utilized for detecting temperature variation, and the polymer overlay is coated on the side-polished FBG for measurement of ambient index change. The temperature sensitivities of the side-polished FBG and the polymer overlay were measured to be 0.01 nm/$^{\circ}C$ and -0.58 nm/$^{\circ}C$, respectively, in a temperature range from $30^{\circ}C$ to $100^{\circ}C$. The ambient index sensitivities of the polymer overlay were measured to be 498.8 nm/RIU in an ambient index range from 1.33 to 1.39, 694.9 nm/RIU from 1.39 to 1.42, and 1312 nm/RIU from 1.42 to 1.44.

Computer Simulations of Hoffman Brain Phantom:Sensitivity Measurements and Optimization of Data Analysis of 〔Tc-99m〕ECD SPECT Before and After Acftazolamide Administraton (Acetazolamide 사용전후 〔Tc-99m〕 EDC SPECT 데이타 분석 방법의 최적화 및 민감도 측정)

  • Consecutive brain 〔Tc-99m〕ECD SPECT studies before and after acetazolamide (Diamox) administration have been performed with patients for the evaluation of cerebrovascular hemodynamic reserve. However, the quantitaitve potential of SPECT Diamox imaging is limited as a result of degrading fractors such as finite detector resolution, attenuation, scatter, poor counting statistics, and methods of data analysis. Making physical measurements in phantoms filled with known amounts of radioactivity can help characterize and potentially quantify the sensitivities. However, it is often very difficult to make a realistic phantom simulating patients in clinical situations. By computer simulation, we studied the sensitivities of ECD SPECT before and after Diamox administration. The sensitivity is defined as ($\Delta$N/N)/($\Delta$S/S)$\times$100%, where $\Delta$N denotes the differences in mean counts between post-and pre-Diamox in the measured data, N denotes the mean counts before Diamox in the measure data, $\Delta$S denotes the differences in mean counts between post-and pre-Diamox in the model, and S denotes the mean counts before Diamox in the model. In clinical Diamox studies, the percentage changes of radioactivity could be determined to measure changes in radioactivity concentration by Diamox after subtracting pre-from post-Diamox data. However, the optimal amount of subtraction for 100% sensitivity is not known since this requires a thorough sensitivity analysis by computer simulation. For consecutive brain SPECT imaging model before and after Diamox, when 30% increased radioactivity concentrations were assingned for Diamox effect in model, the sensitivities were measured as 51.03, 73.4, 94.00, 130.74% for 0, 100, 150, 200% subtraction, respectively. Sensitivity analysis indicated that the partial voluming effects due to finite detector resolution and statistical noise result in a significant underestimation of radioactivity measurements and the amount of underestimation depends on the. % increase of radioactivity concentration and % subtraction of pre-from post-Diamox data. The 150% subtraction appears to be optimal in clinical situations where we expect approximately 30% changes in radioactivity concentration. The computer simulation may be a powerful technique to study sensitivities of ECD SPECT before and after Diamox administration.

  • The role of memory is viewed as central to developing and maintaining flight situation awareness (SA). The present research examines constituent memory processes that underlie flight SA sensitivity as a function of pilot expertise. In Experiment 1, pilot memory for different forms (spatial or verbal) of cockpit situational information was tested immediately after presentation of the information (immediate recall) or after 30-s delay filled with an intervening task (delayed recall). In Experiment 2, pilot SA sensitivity was examined and correlated with memory measures obtained in Experiment 1. Results suggest that an expertise effect occurs in delayed recall but not in immediate recall and that memory representation of situational information required to develop high levels of SA sensitivity varies as a function of expertise. Theoretical accounts of results are discussed in the context of psychological theories of expertise.
