Comparisons of Empirical Methods with Numerical Analysis on Lateral Flow in Soft Soils (측방유동에 관한 경험식 및 수치해석의 비교)

  • In this paper, the results of empirical methods and the numerical analysis were compared and investigated on the lateral displacement due to embankment in soft soil. The empirical methods gave different results so the possibility of lateral displacement could not be determined only by the empirical methods. The numerical analysis could be used so effectively that its result showed useful lateral and vertical displacements with depth and distance.

  • 마이크로 바이오칩용 미세 무게 감지 소자를 개발하기 위해 통상적인 MEMS 공정에 PZT sol solution을 함침하여 binder로서 적용하는 복합적인 스크린 인쇄 방법을 적용해 $800-850^{\circ}C}$의 비교적 저온에서 높은 소결밀도와 우수한 전기적인 특성을 가지는 PZT-0.12PCW 후막 구동형 캔틸레버 소자를 Pt/$TiO_2$/YSZ/$SiO_2$/Si 기판에 제조하였다. 제조된 PZT-0.12PCW 후막 구동형 캔틸레버 소자의 공진 주파수와 변위를 레이저 미소 변위 측정 시스템을 이용하여 공기 중 및 액체 중에서 측정함으로써 캔틸레버 크기에 따른 공진 특성 변화, 액체 내에서의 댐핑 효과 등을 분석할 수 있었다. 또한 Au를 증착하거나biotin-streptoavidin 반응을 통해 단백질을 고정화시켜 무게변화를 야기시킨 후 소자의 감도를 평가함으로써 PZT-0.12PCW 후막 구동형 캔틸레버를 우수한 성능의 바이오칩용 미세 무게 감지 소자로 응용할 수 있음을 알 수 있었다.

  • A single-mode fiber-optic interferometer for measuring small vibrations was constructed. The interferometer is based on the Fabry-Perot configuration that uses a single mode bidirectional fiber coupler as a beam splitter and employs peak detection scheme in the signal processing. The instrument was used to measure the displacement of the translator clamped to a piezo crystal.

  • In this study, dielectric and piezoelectric properties of 0.5PNN-(0.5-x)PZN-xPZT system ceramics with PZT mole ratio were investigated. As the amount of PZT increases, curie temperature was increased. The maximum of dielectric and piezoelectric constant was shoun at 0.3 mole of PZT amount. As a results, we have found that the structure of ceramics with PZT 0.3 mole was morphotropic phase boundary.

  • 본 논문에서는 새로운 형태의 정밀위치제어용 3자유도 매니플레이터를 제안하고, 기구학 해석을 수행하며, FEM과 수치해석적인 방법을 비교하여 메카니즘에 대한 모델링 방법이 크게 틀리지 않음을 확인 하고자 한다. 회전관절과 구형관절은 비구동관절로써 미소움직임이 가능하도록 하나의 모듈로 이루어진 flexure hinge들로 만들어진다. 따라서, 비구동관절에 대한 강성해석을 수행하며 구동관절의 토오크 벡터를 비구동관절의 강성과 변위로 표현하여 액추에이터의 구동용량을 결정한다.

Modified S-FPZ Model for a Running Crack in Concrete (콘크리트의 연속적인 균열성장에 대한 수정 특이-파괴진행대 이론)

  • In this paper, the modified singular fracture process zone (S-FPZ) model is proposed to consider variation of a fracture criterion for continuous crack propagation in concrete. The fracture properties of the proposed fracture model are strain energy release rate at a micro-crack tip and crack closure stress (CCS) versus crack opening displacement (COD) relationship in the FPZ. The proposed model can simulate the estimated fracture energy of experimental results. The analysis results of the experimental data shows that specimen geometry and loading condition did not affect the CCS-COD relation. But the strain energy release rate is a function of not only specimen geometry but also crack extension. Until 25 mm crack extension, the strain energy release rate is a constant minimum value, and then it increased linearly to the maximum value. The maximum fracture criterion occurred at the peak load for an large size specimen. The fracture criterion remains the maximum value after the peak load. The variation of the fracture criterion is caused by micro-cracking and micro-crack localizing. The fracture criterion of strain energy release rate can simply be the size effect of concrete fracture, and it can be used to quantify the micro-tracking and micro-crack localizing behaviors of concrete.

  • The stabilized Michelson interferometer was developed in order to measure micro dynamic displacement at the surface of solids due to elastic wave propagation. The stabilizer was designed to compensate light path disturbances using a reference mirror driven by piezoelectric actuator. Using stabilizer, the effect of external vibration was reduced and the quadrature condition was satisifed. As the results, the output of photodetector had maximum sensitivity and linearity. The minimum detectable displacement was 0.3nm at the band width of 10 MHz. The epicentral displacements due to the glass capillary breaks and the steel ball drop impact were measured using the developed interferometer and the results were compared with the calculated one.

  • Acoustic emission (AE) and Microseimsic (MS) activities are law-energy seismic events associated with a sudden inelastic deformation such as the sudden movement of existing fractures, the generation of new fractures or the propagation of fractures. These events rapidly increase before major failure and happen within a given rock volume and radiate detectable seismic waves. The main difference between AE and MS signals is that the seismic motion frequencies of AE signals are higher than those of MS signals. As the failure of geotechnical structures usually happens as a high velocity and small displacement, it is nat easy ta determine the precursor and initiation stress level of failure in displacement detection method. To overcame this problem, AE/MS techniques far detection of structure failure and damage have recently adapt in civil engineering. This study deal with the basic theory of AE/MS and state of arts in monitoring technique using AE/MS.

Comparison of Behaviors of Jointless Bridge according to Depth of Abutment Among Numerical Models (수치해석 모델에 따른 무조인트 교량의 교대 깊이별 거동 비교)

  • This study investigates the behavior of a jointless bridge that integrates superstructure and abutment without an expansion joint. Based on the sensitivity analyses conducted in previous studies, a shell-based model was determined to be the most suitable numerical analysis model for jointless bridges due to the similarity of the model's results compared with the obtained displacement shape, which was influenced by relative errors, precision, and practical aspects. Accordingly, the behavior of a jointless bridge was analyzed at various wall depths using shell element-based and solid element models. In addition, the results of MIDAS Civil and ABAQUS analysis programs were compared. In the case of semi-integrated bridges (A and B), the displacement decreased as the wall depth increased due to the ground reaction force in Case 1 under a linear spring condition and +30℃. In the case where temperature was -30℃, the change in displacement was small because the ground reaction did not occur. As for bridge C (a fully integrated alternating bridge) and bridge D (an integrated chest wall alternating bridge), the displacement decreased as the wall depth increased at both +30 and -30℃ due to pile resistance. As for the comparison between the analysis programs used, the relative error in Case 1 was small, whereas a significant difference in Case 2 was observed. The foregoing variation is possibly due to the difference in the application of the nonlinear spring in the programs.

The Cause Analysis of Greenhouse Damage for Heavy Snow using Large Displacement Analysis (폭설시 대변위해석을 이용한 온실의 피해원인 분석)

  • The collapsing accidents of pipe greenhouses in the farmhouse have been increased duo to heavy snow load. However, the study on exact structure analysis to prevent the collapse of pipe greenhouses is rare and the damage of the farmhouse is annually repeated. The method of existing structure analysis is basically made of linear elastic analysis based on the micro displacement. But the actual stiffness of the pipe greenhouse is significantly weaker than the stiffness of buildings and the load acting on the greenhouses gets to become relatively bigger. It means that the geometry shape of greenhouses changes so that the relation of strain-displacement gets to indicate a nonlinear behavior. Therefore, this study is performed to evaluate the structural safety so as to prevent the collapse of pipe greenhouses, which are the single-span greenhouse(farmhouse guidance shape, G) and multi-span greenhouse(farmhouse supply shape, 1-2W), by performing the large-displacement analysis considering nonlinear effects.
