Application of Gradient-Enhanced Kriging to Aerodynamic Coefficients Modeling With Physical Gradient Information (물리적 구배 정보를 이용한 공력계수 모형화를 위한 GE 크리깅의 적용)

  • The six-DOF aerodynamic coefficients of a missile entail inherent physical gradient constraints originated from the geometric characteristics of a cylindrical fuselage. To effectively adopt the freely available gradient information in aerodynamic coefficients modeling, this research employed gradient-enhanced (GE) Gaussian process. To investigate the accuracy of aerodynamic coefficients predicted with gradients information, we compared two Gaussian-process-based models: ordinary and GE Gaussian process models with and without gradient information, respectively. As a result, we found that GE Gaussian process models were able to comply with imposed gradient information and more accurate than ordinary Gaussian process models. However, we also found that GE Gaussian process modeling cannot handle gradient information continuously and ends up with more samples due to additional gradient information.

Analysis of Turbulent flow using Pressure Gradient Method (압력구배기법을 이용한 난류 유동장 해석)

  • Applicability of the pressure gradient method which is formulated based on pressure gradient is verified against turbulent flow analysis. In the pressure gradient method, pressure gradient instead of pressure itself is obtained using continuity constraint. Since correct pressure gradient is found only when mass conservation is satisfied, pressure gradient method can reflect physics of flow field properly The pressure gradient method is formulated with semi-staggered grid system which locates each primitive variables on the same grid point but evaluates pressure gradient in-between. This grid system ensures easy programming and reflection of correct physics in analysis. For verifying applicability of this method, the pressure gradient method is applied to turbulent flow analysis with low Reynolds number $\kappa$-$\varepsilon$ model. Turbulent flows include fully developed channel flow, backward-facing step flow, and conical diffuser flow. Prediction results show that the pressure gradient method can be applied to turbulent flow analysis. However, the pressure gradient method requires somewhat long computation time. Proper way to find optimum under-relaxation factor, $\gamma$, is also need to be developed.

  • 본 연구에서는 직각밀폐용기의 수평경계면이 단열인 경우뿐만 아니라 등온 조건을 갖는 경우에 대해 실험적으로 연구하여 경계조건의 변화가 직각밀폐용기내 흐름 및 열전달에 미치는 영향, 특히 등온조건을 갖는 경우 수직 온도차에 따르는 안정온도 구배효과로 예상되는 흐름의 억제, 지연효과를 작종 물리적 변수들의 영향과 함께 세밀히 조사하였다.

  • Recent development of marine magnetic gradient systems, using arrays of sensors, has made it possible to survey large contaminated areas very quickly. However, underwater Unexploded Ordnances (UXO) can be moved by water currents. Because of this mobility, the cleanup process in such situations becomes dynamic rather than static. This implies that detection should occur in near real-time for successful remediation. Therefore, there is a need for a fast interpretation method to rapidly detect signatures of underwater objects in marine magnetic data. In this paper, we present a fast method for location and characterization of underwater UXOs. The approach utilises gradient interpretation techniques (analytic signal and Euler methods) to locate the objects precisely. Then, using an iterative linear least-squares technique, we obtain the magnetization characteristics of the sources. The approach was applied to a theoretical marine magnetic anomaly, with random errors, over a known source. We demonstrate the practical utility of the method using marine magnetic gradient data from Japan.

A Numerical Analysis for Estimations of Osmotic Pressure of Colloidal Suspension and Gradient Diffusion Coefficient of Particles from Permeate Flux Experiments (투과플럭스 실험으로부터 콜로이드 서스펜션의 삼투압과 입자의 구배확산계수 산출을 위한 수치적 해석)

  • A novel methodology on the calculations of osmotic pressure and gradient diffusion coefficient has been provided ill the present study, by applying a succinct numerical analysis on the experimental results. Although both the osmotic pressure and the gradient diffusion coefficient represent a fundamental characteristic in related membrane filtrations such as microfiltration and ultrafiltration, neither theoretical analysis nor experiments can readily determine them. The osmotic pressure of colloidal suspension has been successfully determined from a relationship between the data of the time-dependent permeate flux, their numerical accumulations, and their numerical derivatives. It is obvious that the osmotic pressure is gradually increased, as the particle concentration increases. The thermodynamic coefficient was calculated from the numerical differentiation of the correlation equation of osmotic pressure, and the hydrodynamic coefficient was evaluated from the previously developed relation for an ordered system. Finally, the estimated gradient diffusion coefficient, which entirely depends on the particle concentration, was compared to the previous results obtained from the statistical mechanical simulations.

Development of Gravity Gradient Referenced Navigation and its Horizontal Accuracy Analysis (중력구배기반 항법 구현 및 수평위치 정확도 분석)

  • Recently, researches on DBRN(DataBase Referenced Navigation) system are being carried out to replace GNSS(Global Navigation Satellite System), as weaknesses of GNSS were found that are caused by the intentional interference and the jamming of the satellite signal. This paper describes the gravity gradient modeling and the construction of EKF(Extended Kalman Filter) based GGRN(Gravity Gradient Referenced Navigation). To analyze the performance of GGRN, fourteen flight trajectories were made for simulations over whole South Korea. During the simulations, we considered the errors in both DB(DataBase) and sensor as well as the flight altitudes. Accurate performances were found, when errors in the DB and the sensor are small and they located at lower altitude. For comparative evaluation, the traditional TRN(Terrain Referenced Navigation) was also developed and performances were analyzed relative to those from the GGRN. In fact, most of GGRN performed better in low altitude, but both of precise gravity gradient DB and gradiometer were required to obtain similar level of precisions at the high altitude. In the future, additional tests and evaluations on the GGRN need to be performed to investigate on more factors such as DB resolution, flight speed, and the update rate.

  • From refraction data along four seismic profiles near Eonyang which the Yangsan fault passes through, the Slope Variation Indicators (SVI) are computed and interpreted in terms of fault distribution. The average velocities of 2,250-2,870 m/s are estimated using velocity-analysis functions for the target boundary along those profiles. The average velocity for Line 1 is approximately 600 m/s lower than ones for the other lines. The SVI's with amplitude greater than or equal to 0.5 ms/m are turned out to be located near faults shown on the high-resolution reflection section, as closely as one station spacing (3 m). Large amplitude SVI's are densely distributed near National Road 35, and the fault having the largest vertical slip is indicated to be located approximately 930 m west of the inferred fault on the published geologic map.

투과증발공정의 기초 이론

  • 투과증발(Pervaporation)이란 어원적으로 "permeation"과 "evaporation"의 합성어인데 액체혼합물이 치밀한 비다공질막을 통해 이동하는 동안 증기화되면서 분리되는 막분리 공정이다. 이 공정에서 막 한쪽면은 액체공급액과 접하고 있고 다른 한쪽면은 낮은 투과물의 증기압과 접하고 있는데 낮은 증기압은 진공(vacuum pervaporation)을 가하거나 혹은 불활성의 담체가스(sweep gas pervaporation)를 흐르게 하므로써 얻을 수 있다. 이때 막 내부에 트과증발막공정의 추진력인 화학 포텐셜(chemical potential) 구배가 발생하여 막을 통한 물질투과가 이루어지는데 각 투과성분의 투과속도는 투과성분과 막재료간의 물리화학적 인력에 의해 결정된다.의 물리화학적 인력에 의해 결정된다.

  • 오늘날 막분리공정의 응용은 다른 분리공정에 비해 경제성과 편리성으로 비교우위에 있어 점차로 사용규모면에 있어서 증대되고 있다. 예를 들면, 바닷물을 음용수로 전환하거나 식품이나 의약공업에서 고분자화합물을 정제, 농축, 분리할 뿐만아니라 신장에서 불순물을 제거에 이르기까지 확대발전되어오고 있으며 화공약품의 분리회수, 초순수화나 환경산업의 폐수처리, 가스의 분리와 회수등의 응용에 이르기까지 쓰임새가 다양하며, 앞으로의 응용범위는 새로운 기능의 분리막개발과 함께 점점 확대되고 있다. 이와같은 막분리공정상 물질전달의 기본적특성인 추진력과 물리적인 성질의 중요성을 이해하는 것은 막분리공정을 설계제작하는데 필요하다. 막내에서 물질전달은 분리코져하는 물질의 확산, 전기장에의한 대류속도, 농도, 압력, 흡착 그리고 온도구배 등 물질이동현상을 조절하는 인자들 뿐만아니라 막의 물리적, 화학적 특성과 분리대상물질의 물리화학적 특성등에 의해 결정된다. 이러한 막내에서의 추진력들은 서로 상호 보완적이고 경우에 따라서는 새로운 효과를 나타낼 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 추진력에 따른 막물질이동에 영향을 주는 요소들을 저자가 경험한 결과들을 토대로 총론형식으로 열거하였다.

  • Many problems exist in the current cast in place concrete lining used in domestic tunnel construction. Especially, the crack of tunnel lining brings about a social and economic problem. It has a lot of influence on stability of structure and the fine finish of lining. So enormous repair-work and reinforcement of tunnel lining could occur an running out of government's budget. In our country, there are domestic production enterprises which produce a special pre-cast concrete product, but the technical level of them is still far behind compared to developed countries. Also, optimum steam coring method is important for the production of high quality product. But there is no regulation of steam curing method in our country. This study is to investigate the properties of PC panel according to the variation of steam curing conditions such as presteaming time and rate of temperature rise. The result shows that the optimum presteaming time of steam curing method in PC panel is more than 1 hour and the desirable rate of temperature in curing chamber is about $20^{\circ}C/hr$.
