  • This study investigated manufacturing technique and provenance of the Gilt-bronze Seated Bhaisajyaguru (Medicine Buddha) Statue of Janggoksa Temple. The statue had the following : Cu(68.8%)-Sn(10.4%)-Pb(17.1%), it is similar to other medium or large Buddha statue. As results of comparison lead isotope ratio of sample with the provenance data were plotted in zone 3 of the South Korean galena map. According to this result of Bronze Buddha could be made into galena of the located in same area the temple. The results of this study were compared with the Bronze Bodhisattva statue of Goseongsa Temple. The manufacturing techniques were different based on the characteristics of Buddha statues and thus could be made into galena of the located in same area the temple.

대순사상의 인문정신과 인류평안의 이념

  • 대순사상은 인간의 행위와 정신적 틀, 즉 몸과 마음을 닦고 세상을 다스리며 백성을 평안하게 하는 도리를 설파하고 있다. 우주 공간의 질서와 깊은 연관을 맺는 이러한 도리는 인간 자신의 인지(認知)와 심신 수양의 내용을 포함하며, 사람이 사회와 우주자연과의 관계를 어떻게 처리해 나갈 것인지에 관한 문제도 다루고 있다. 따라서 대순사상을 인문이라는 관점에 입각하여 분석해 볼 필요가 있다. 이탈리아에서 시작된 서양의 인문주의와 비교해 볼 때, 중국 전통의 인문정신은 인류 개체의 창조력과 그 성과를 인정하고, 인격적 수양과 개선을 주장하며, 사회의 조화를 강조하는 한편, 인류가 반드시 천지인의 조화로운 관계 속에서 개체와 전체의 생존을 파악해야 함을 강조한다. 이러한 인문정신은 『전경』에서도 찾아볼 수 있다. 그 하나가 모악산과 단주(丹朱)에 대한 서술인데, 모악산은 산 즉 '간'(艮)괘이며 단주는 적색에 상응하니 곧 '리'(離)괘가 된다. 이 두 괘가 서로 조합하면 '비(比)'괘가 되며, 『주역』의 비괘와 연관하여 서로 간의 모순을 없애고, '바둑'을 두는 기법을 거울삼아 심성을 다스리며, 인격을 완성하고, 인신이 조화를 이루도록 하며, 사회를 안정시킬 것을 말한다. 대순 신앙의 최종 목표는 지상천국을 건설하는 것인데, 이런 목표를 실현하기 위해서는 인격수양을 그 출발점으로 삼아야 한다. 인격수양의 목표는 바른 도인이 되기 위한 것이며, 이를 위해서는 수도 공부를 해야만 한다. 수도는 춘추시기 노자 이래로 유구한 문화적 전통을 지닌 것이지만, 대순진리회는 한국사회 역사의 경향과 현실의 필요에 부응하여 수도 이론을 새롭게 수립하였다. 이를 살펴보면, 대순진리회는 수도자가 '성(誠), 경(敬), 신(信)'에 힘쓰는 품격 함양을 매우 중시한다. 또 도인들이 가정의 화목에 힘써야 하며, 솔선수범하는 도인으로서 사회의 모범이 되어야 한다고 말한다. 이렇게 볼 때, 대순진리회는 '인도'(人道)를 함양함을 강조하고 있으며, 이것은 전통적인 유가에서 말하는 '수신, 제가' (修身, 齊家)의 정신과 그 의미가 맞닿아 있다. 또한 중국 도교의 '선도(仙道)를 이루고자 하면 먼저 인도(人道)를 행하라'는 사상적 취지와도 일치한다. 대순진리회에서 수도의 최종 목표는 도통이다. 도통은 수도자가 매우 높은 경지에 이르게 되었을 때 가지는 특수한 능력과 정신의 경지이다. '도통'에 대한 기록은 『장자·제물론』, 『문자』의 「부언편>(符言篇) 등에서 찾아볼 수 있는데, 대순진리회가 말하는 도통은 중국의 도가 전통에 보이는 도통과도 연관되지만 강한 인륜수양(人倫修養)적 특색을 지니고 있다는 점에서 차이가 있다. 이것은 대순진리회가 가지는 중요한 인문적 함의라 하겠다. 대순진리회는 수도 공부로써 광제창생·보국안민·지상천국건설의 사회적 이상을 실현하고자 한다. 조화로운 사회적 관계를 수립하기 위한 토대는 대순진리회의 종지 첫 번째인 음양합덕이다. 음양합덕은 대순진리의 인문 취지의 이론적 기초를 형성하는 사상이다. 음양합덕의 철학적 사고는 종지 두 번째인 신인조화(神人調化)의 이상으로 이어진다. 신인조화는 『상서·순전』(尙書·舜典)의 신인이화(神人以和)에서 그 사상적 연원을 찾아 볼 수 있다. 다만 신인이화가 율려 조화의 '결과'를 표현한 것이라면, 신인조화에서 중시하는 것은 '과정'이며 인간과 신의 상호작용이라는 점에 그 특징이 있다. 신인조화를 이루기 위해서는 공부를 해야 하며, 그 배후에는 인본(人本)의 사상이 깃들어 있다. 그것은 종지 세 번째인 '해원상생'의 내용에서 더욱 명확하게 드러난다. 신인조화가 인간과 신의 관계를 조화롭게 하는 것을 말한다면, 해원상생은 인간과 인간의 관계를 조화롭게 하는 것을 말한다. 또 다른 한편으로는 긴 역사의 과정 속에서 맺힌 원을 풀어 우주의 기운을 잘 통할 수 있게 하고 인간 사회의 정상적인 교류를 이루도록 한다. 이러한 내용은 사회적인 인문적 관심과 배려를 다분히 포함하고 있는 것이다. 대순진리회의 종지 네 번째인 도통진경은 수도의 가장 높은 경지를 말하는데, 이러한 이념은 노장 일파의 도가 학자들이 말한 순박한 본성으로 회귀하자는 정신에서 그 원류를 찾을 수 있을 것이다. 또한 이는 한진(漢晉)시대 이래 중국 도교가 추구했던 '진경' 의 의미와도 합치된다. 그러나 시대와 환경이 다름으로 인해, 대순진리회의 '진경'은 사회생활의 의미까지 내포한다. 비록 대순진리회의 경전이 인본(人本)을 명확히 밝히고 있지는 않으나, 대순진리회의 요의(要義) 중 하나인 인존사상은 대순진리회의 인문정신을 말해주는 것이다. 인존사상의 직접적인 기능은 평안(平安)으로서 삶을 이롭게 하는 것이다. 대순진리회는 우주대원의 진리를 '도'라 하였는데 이러한 '도'는 중국의 도가에서 말하는 '도'와 동일하며, 여기에는 '안(安)'의 의미가 포함되어 있다. 대순진리회의 신조 중 '안심', '안신'은 마음을 정(靜)하게 하고, 몸을 편하게 하는 것으로 볼 수 있지만, 심신의 공포와 두려움을 떨쳐내어 안전과 보호를 얻는다는 의미도 있으므로 결국 평안이 전제가 된다. 이렇듯 대순진리회에서는 '평안에 대한 희구'를 근본으로 하여 신앙인들이 열심히 수도에 정진하고 있다. 대순진리회가 인류 평안을 기본으로 하는 종교라는 점에서, 반드시 세인들의 환영을 받을 것임을 믿어 의심치 않는다.

Analysis of Characteristics about the Location environment of Industrial Complex and Migration Company (산업단지 입지환경과 입주기업의 특성 분석)

  • The aim of this study is to determine factors that affect the competitiveness and the move-in environment of migration companies according to the recent change of location conditions of industrial complexes. The results of analysis show that productive factor and economic factor are related to the main factors that determine the location environment. The resident companies have a strong link to the economic characteristics factors, which seems to be related to the expectation and satisfaction for public support facilities, hospitals, educational institutions, and administrative agencies to be placed in the complex, encouraging companies to be located in the complex. In other words, if the existing economic factors and public support facilities were complemented, it can be inferred that the industrial complex promotion policies will be more effectively planned. Also, transportation and infrastructure facilities are analyzed as successful factors for resident companies. In addition, the economic and productive environments turn out to affect public support facilities and environmental factors of infrastructure as major factors. The results of this study are expected to be a useful guideline in determining the resident policy or external factors for the future industrial complex.

Comparison of Reliability and Validity of Three Korean Versions of the 20-Item Toronto Alexithymia Scale (TAS-20의 한국판 3종간의 신뢰도 및 타당도 비교)

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study was to compare reliability and validity of three Korean versions of the 20-item Toronto Alexithymia scale and to confirm the most reliable and validated Korean translation of the 20-item Toronto Alexithymia Scale for both clinical and research purpose in Korea. The first one was a Korean version of the 20-Item Toronto Alexithymia Scale developed by Lee YH et al in 1996 which was designated as TAS-20K(1996) in this study. This scale had a problem with one item due to the cultural difference regarding the word 'analyzing' between western culture and Korean culture. The second one was the revised version of TAS-20K(1996) on that point by Lee YH et al in 1996 without validation which was designated as TAS-20K(2003) in this study. The third one was a 23-item Korean version developed by Sin HG and Won HT in 1997, which was somewhat different from the 20-item Toronto Alexithymia Scale(TAS-20) in the number of total item, the content of some items and the scoring method. This scale was designated as S-TAS here. Methods: 408 medical students were tested with one scale composed of all the different items randomly arranged from the three versions. We evaluated goodness-of-fit and Cronbach $\alpha$ coefficients of three scales for reliability. We used confirmatory factor analysis to compare validity. Results: TAS-20K(2003) showed that it had better internal consistency than TAS-20K(1996), which implied that the cultural difference should be considered in the Korean translation. Both TAS-20K(2003) and S-TAS replicated three-factor structures and had adequacy of fit, good internal consistency and acceptable validity. However, S-TAS had one item with poor item-factor correlation and didn't show high correlation between item 2 and factor 1 as before in 1997. Conclusion: Although S-TAS had added 3 items and changed the content of two items, it didn't show better reliability and validity than TAS-20K(2003). Therefore it is proposed to use TAS-20K (2003) as the Korean version of the 20-item Toronto Alexithymia Scale(TAS-20K) for international communication of results of Alexithymia research. It has good internal consistency and validity and maintains original items, the same construct and scoring method as the 20-item Toronto Alexithymia Scale.

Characteristics of Playscript and Gramophone Record Reviewed through Theatrical Activities of Packaging Troupe Around the 1950s (1950년대 전후 포장극단의 연희활동으로 본 대본의 특성과 유성기음반)

  • This study was conducted through the typological analysis of theatrical activities and playscript of Packaging Troupe, which was a wandering theater troupe. It seems the activities of the packaging troupe were very active about in the 1950s. They approached to the public with various repertoires and gained popularity during the process. The playscript used in their plays can be divided into several types such as Yi dynasty drama, historical drama and modern drama and their titles are almost same as or similar to those used in Changgeuk troupe (classical opera), Female Gukgeuk troupe (Female classical opera), or Female Nongak troupe (Female farm musical band). Also, as themes, subject matters, and characters were partially same, the characteristics of previous theatrical activities could be reviewed through the playscript of packaging troupe. Also, the characteristics of the playscript of packaging troupe can be found in the list of gramophone record. The changes in popular culture can be examined in the flow of plays with various forms such as theater, film, and gramophone through the comparison between the characteristics of playscript types of packaging troupe around in the 1950s and the list of gramophone record. A typological analysis of playscript of packaging troupe confirmed the activities of packaging troupe lasted around in the 1950s. Also it can be inferred from Hyeopryulsa, Changgeuk troupe, Female Gukgeuk troupe, or Female Nongak troupe, which used traditional subject matters as repertoire of performance. Those were possible because repertoires were composed and contents changed according to the needs of the public. The changes can be also confirmed through the list inserted in the gramophone record. The association can be inferred through the same title as that of the playscript of packaging troupe and similarity of performance curtains and subject matters. As such, the interest and flow of popular culture can be examined through the types of playscript of theatrical activities of packaging troupe.

A Study on Tile from the Early Period of the Three Kingdoms Period Excavated in Bonghwang-dong (김해 봉황동 유적 일대 출토 삼국시대 초기 기와 검토)

  • The basic purpose of building material called tiles is waterproofing and damp proofing, and they were restricted to use on important buildings to symbolize authority. This is especially true during the Three Kingdoms period, although unearthed examples are rare. Most of these tiles are found in ruins in the Silla and Baekje regions. Tiles were excavated from the Buwon-dong ruins that show the oldest manufacturing technique in the Gaya region to date, and tiles from the early Three Kingdoms period were recently excavated from the Gimhae Bonghwang-dong ruins, which is presumed to be the site of the royal palace of Geumgwan Gaya. These are important materials that show the appearance of tiles from the early days of Gimhae, the ancient capital of Geumgwan Gaya. The tiles excavated from the Bonghwang-dong ruins are reddish-yellow because a small amount of sand was mixed in the tile material and baked at a low temperature. The tiles are thin, no traces of fabric were identified, but traces of clay bands were identified. Tapping tool marks and traces of an anvil used in pottery production are clearly observed on the inside and outside, indicating that the tiles were made in the same way as earthenware manufacturing methods. If this is connected to the genealogy of the potters who made Gaya earthenware, it is estimated that tiles and earthenware were produced together as in the Songrim-ri ruins in Bulo-dong, Incheon, Songgok-dong ruins in Gyeongju, and Mulcheon-ri ruins. To date, tiles excavated from the Gimhae area have been identified only in places believed to be the Geumgwan Gaya City Wall (Royal Palace) in the Gimhae Basin. Considering what has been recorded so far and the geographical scenery, the Bonghwang-dong remains are the only city wall candidate site, and this is clearly revealed through the existence of the excavated tiles, which proves this. Considering that a small number of tiles were excavated during this time, it is estimated that the role of tiles as a luxury product with a symbolic meaning was greater than that of roofing materials, and there were strict restrictions and controls on its use.

Validation of the Korean Version of the Perfectionism Inventory (PI) for Gifted Students (한국판 PI(Perfectionism Inventory)의 타당화 연구: 영재학생을 대상으로)

  • This study is aimed at validation of the Korean Version of the Perfectionism Inventory which was developed by Hill et al.(2004). To do so, exploratory factor analysis and confirmatory factor analysis with 167 science high school and 161 middle school gifted students were conducted. It appeared 6 factor structure consisting of 'Self-Evaluative Perfection Strivings', 'Parental Pressure', 'Planfulness', 'Striving for Excellence', 'High Standards for Others', and 'Organization', which does not support 8 factor of the original scale. As a result, Cronbach's ${\alpha}$ ranged from .78 to .92 for subscale of PI and .93 for the total scale. The fit of measurement model was found to be ${\chi}^2=1257.618$ (df=792, p=.00), TLI=.903, CFI=.911, RMSEA=.047, indicating most of fit indexes were acceptable. Also, the validity of the scale was examined by the correlations between the PI and MPS. PI Korean version is significant to confirm the factor structure and validity of perfectionism which was influenced by characteristics of gifted students and Korean culture. These results show that the PI is quite reliable and valid tool for measuring perfectionism for gifted students.

Workplace Friendship and Organizational Effectiveness of Dental Hygienists (치과의료기관 근무자들의 프렌드십과 조직효과성 관계 연구)

  • This study purports to measure the level of work friendship in dental clinic and examines the friendship's effect on the organizational effectiveness. Data were collected from workers who worked in dental clinic located in Seoul and Gyeonggi areas by self-administered questionnaires from early in October till lately in September, 2009 through direct interview and e-mail. Among 250 questionnaires, 240 responses were returned, and 17 copies with an inaccurate answer were excluded. Finally 223 responses were analyzed through SPSS program. The study revealed that the work friendship in dental clinic has enormous influence on job satisfaction, occupational commitment, intent to leave, stress etc. The results imply that the managers of the dental clinics need to create an organizational climate which emphasizes on a good relationship among members and have them take part in various committees or informal activities.

A Study on the Relation between Matteo Ricci and Daesoon Thought: A Phenomenological Interpretation of Ricci in Daesoon Thought (마테오 리치와 대순사상의 관계성에 대한 연구 - 대순사상의 기독교 종장에 대한 종교현상학적 해석 -)

  • In Daesoon Thought, Matteo Ricci is regarded highly as a Jongjang, 'religious leader,' (of Christianity). This paper deals with the life and philosophical/theological thought of Matteo Ricci as homo-religiosus from the perspective of phenomenology of religion. Examining his historical background and biographical sketch, I will analyze Ricci's understanding of God, humanity, and salvation and re-evaluate his relationship with Daesoon Thought. Matteo Ricci, born in Italy, became a Jesuit missionary to China and transmitted various products of western civilization. Accepting the pro-cultural approach of Jesuit mission, he applied it to Chinese culture and language by learning the Chinese language and regarding Chinese people as his friends. This was a sympathetic way to transmit Western religion and culture while on Chinese soil. He suggested eight reasons to look towards the future of China with optimism and taught Chinese people his Christian message through his indirect means of understanding and persuasion. In China, Jesuit missionaries called the Christian God 'Tianzhu (Cheonju in Sino-Korean),' meaning Lord of Heaven. Ricci identified the Confucian notion of 'Shangdi (Sangje in Sino-Korean),' meaning Supreme Emperor (or God) with Tianzhu. While translating Confucian scriptures, he found the common ground between Confucianism and Christianity to be the monotheism of ancient Confucianism. He criticized the concepts of God in Buddhism and Daoism, and justified the Christian doctrine of God by way of a Confucian understanding of deity. Ricci's understanding of humanity was based on his Christian faith in creation, and he criticized the Buddhist concept of transmigration. He proposed Christian ethics and doctrine of salvation by using discourse on the afterlife and in particular, the concepts of heaven and hell. Concerning the relationship between Daesoon Thought and Ricci, the following aspects should be examined: 1.) Ricci's contribution to the cultural exchanges between East and West, 2.) his peaceful approach to his mission based on dialogue and persuasion, 3.) the various activities conducted by Ricci as a Christian leader, and 4.) his belief in miraculous healings. His influence on Korea will likewise be explored. Ricci's ultimate aim was to communicate with Asian people and unify East and West under a singular worldview by emphasizing the similarities between the Christian and Confucian concepts of God.

Structural Stability, Weathering and Conservation Method of Granite Standing Sculptured Buddha at Hwangsang-dong, Kumi (구미 황상동 마애여래입상의 구조적 안정성, 풍화 및 보존방안)

  • Rock composition of the Hwangsang-dong Granite Standing Sculptured Buddha (Treasure No. 1122) in the Kumi City is biotite-hornblende granodiorite which consists of about 30 pieces of individual rock blocks of same compositions. However, the cap rocks is pebble-bearing coarse sandstone. Rock blocks of the Standing Buddha and surrounding out crops occur well developed several joint systems of $N25^{\circ}$ to $45^{\circ}W$ strike and nearly vertical (70 to $85^{\circ}SE$) dipping. Rock blocks of the Standing Buddha showed vertical, horizontal and oblique joints, and those blocks are well supported by individual blocks. However, the junction part of the blocks are under dangerous situation due 10 seriously mechanical and chemical weathering. Host rock of the Standing Buddha belongs to the HW grade, therefore mostly rock-forming minerals of the granodiorite Standing Buddha altered with clay and iron hydroxide minerals by mineralogical and chemical weathering. Near surface of the Standing Buddha show spore and mycelium of green algaes, and a joint plane alive with weeds. We suggest that if structural stability for the Standing Buddha remove essentially a unstable rock blocks from the main body, and the main body necessitate supporting by rock bolting method because of repeated unstability and minimizing stress to the rock blocks. For the opened joint planes, fractured surface and alive weeds will attempt to fill in a petro-epoxy, petro-filler and biochemical treatments for the algaes, and ground water curtain and wall seems to be necessary for water flow and diminishing humidity of the Standing Buddha.
