  • This study analyzed the research trends of COVID-19 research papers published in medical journals of Korea. Data were collected from 25 MEDLINE journals in 'Medicine and Pharmacy' studies and a total of 800 were selected. As a result of the study, authors from domestic affiliations made up 76.96% of the total, and the proportion of authors from foreign institutions decreased without significant change. The authors' majors were 'Internal Medicine' (32.85%), 'Preventive Medicine/Occupational and Environmental Medicine' (16.23%), 'Radiology' (5.74%), and 'Pediatrics' (5.50%), and 435 (54.38%) papers were collaborative research. As for author keywords, 'COVID19' (674), 'SARSCoV2' (245), 'Coronavirus' (81), and 'Vaccine' (80) were derived as top keywords. There were six words that appeared throughout the entire period: 'COVID19,' 'SARSCoV2,' 'Coronavirus,' 'Korea,' 'Pandemic,' and 'Mortality.' Co-occurrence network analysis was conducted on MeSH terms and author keywords, and common keywords such as 'covid-19,' 'sars-cov-2,' and 'public health' were derived. In topic modeling, five topics were identified, including 'Vaccination,' 'COVID-19 outbreak status,' 'Omicron variant,' 'Mental health, control measures,' and 'Transmission and control in Korea.' Through this study, it was possible to identify the research areas and major keywords by year of COVID-19 research papers published during the 'Public Health Emergency of International Concern (PHEIC).'

  • Recenily, major internalional STM(Science, Trchnical, and Mcdivine) Publichers have been developing prototype systems that can provide the refeence linking of jouinal articles within the scholarly literature on a cross-publisher basis using the URN(Universal Resouree Name). In Korea, it is hard to find the efforts to link the scattered digitalized documents to an individual user through a unified web. In this study, a linking model for an inergrated gatewny fro, bibliographic information to full tcxt has been desugned and 'Electronic Research Resourced Linking system (E3R/LS)' has been developed as a prototype for centralized static reference linking system. There are three major components for constructing refrernce linking systems. The firsl componcnt the Digital Object Identifiet(DO1). is introduced as the public identifier inrended to be applied wherever thr item needs to be identified. For denl~iymg Korean journal articles, llie extended SICI(Serlal Ilem and Conlribut~on Idealifier) has becn newly dehed in 1111s study and is used as a suiiia on DOI. The reierence datubasc conlams the second com~onenl, metadiltil, linkcd to implemenied by all information providers. The CnRI resolution system is used for resolving a DOI into a URL as the third component.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the flow of domestic information literacy education research using keyword network analysis and topic modeling and to explore the direction of information literacy education in the future. For this reason, 306 academic papers related to information literacy education published in academic journals of the library and information science field in Korea were chosen. And through the preprocessing process for abstracts of the paper, total keyword appearance frequency, keyword appearance frequency by period, and keyword simultaneous occurrence frequency were analyzed. Subsequently, keyword network analysis analyzed the degree centrality, between centrality, and eigenvector centrality of keywords. Using structural topic modeling analysis, 15 topics -curriculum, information literacy effect, contents of information literacy education, school library education, information media literacy, information literacy ability evaluation index, library anxiety, public library program, health information literacy ability, digital divide, library assisted instruction improvement, research trend, information literacy model, and teacher role-were derived. In addition, the trend of topics by year was analyzed to confirm the change in relative weight by topic. Based on these results, the direction of information literacy education and the suggestions for follow-up research were presented.

  • The study investigated undergraduates' citation use and plagiarism awareness. A questionnaire method was used and was given to undergraduates in a university located in Seoul. Upon investigation, undergraduates recognized the importance and the need of citation and were partly applying citations. However, upon further investigation of undergraduates' citation learning with citation questions, very few of respondents had knowledge of correct citation usage. Undergraduates mostly cited print materials and information from the internet. They used books in case of print materials and web materials provided by academic institutions. They suggested that the university should teach citation usage through a citation and plagiarism awareness program. It is necessary for library use education (information literacy education) as well as university to teach citation education including citation type and how to write it.

  • This study investigated the self-archiving venues that university faculty members have used, the types of content that they have made publicly accessible on the web, and their rationales for such decisions. The present study was based on the analysis of 480 survey responses and 41 telephone interviews from professors at 17 Carnegie Doctorate-granting universities in the U.S. It was found that faculty members tended to self-archive referred articles on their personal websites or research group websites. This indicated that the faculties perceived peer-review process to be important in self-archiving practices as a quality-control mechanism. The rate of self-archiving in institutional repositories was low, although several interviewees envisioned the potential of the repositories regarding the ability to preserve various types of research works in digital form.

  • This study used the Unpaywall API, one of the open tools to track the OA version, to empirically identify the OA of 3,905 papers that have been published by Korean corresponding authors since 2015 in international journals. As a result, the following facts were found. First, less than 30% of papers have been open accessed, and more than half of them were bronze OA. Secondly, the archiving site of the Green OA papers was found not to be domestic but mainly subject repositories or institutional repositories of overseas universities to which co-authors belong. Third, only 19.6% of research fund granted papers were open accessed and half of them were in the medical field. In contrast to the international trends in which the OA papers showed higher citations, the analyzed OA papers showed no higher citations than the non-OA papers.

  • This study purported to investigate the possibility of automatic descriptor assignment using the reclassification of author keywords in domestic scholarly databases. In the first stage, we selected optimal classifiers and parameters for the reclassification by comparing the characteristics of machine learning classifiers. In the next stage, learning the author keywords that were assigned to the selected articles on readings, the author keywords were automatically added to another set of relevant articles. We examined whether the author keyword reclassifications had the effect of vocabulary control just as descriptors collocate the documents on the same topic. The results showed the author keyword reclassification had the capability of the automatic descriptor assignment.
