The Educational Significance of Place Experience through Folklore (설화를 통한 장소 경험의 융합교육적 의의 -청주 지역 전승의 <지네 장터> 설화를 중심으로)

  • The purpose of fusion education is to acquire educational contents efficiently and gain a new worldview. To realize this purpose, I point out that it is urgent to provide common educational content and suggest "place experience" as common content for literature and geography. Local legends present a concrete space and a sharp confrontation with the human world, while shaping the tradition of a place's name. Place experience as common educational content enables a three-dimensional experience of a place that utilizes the characteristics of these local legends. The physical condition, human activity, and implied meaning of a place mediate the student's empirical understanding of folktales. The common area of "place experience" allows us to expect a stereotypical understanding of a learner's place by providing a literary context to learning contents that can flow from the existing geography subject to the simple provision of information. In addition, it facilitates learners' empirical understanding by providing actual and specific objects to learning contents, which can flow abstractly in the existing literature subject. Through this discussion, convergence education demonstrates educational significance by achieving educational efficiency through common educational content and enabling the formation of new thinking.

A Study on Korean Language Translation of Chinese Traditional Hansi in the 1910s and 1920s (1910~20년대 시인의 전통 한시 국역 양상과 의미 연구 - 최남선, 김소월, 김억, 이광수를 중심으로 -)

  • This study examines Korean language translations of traditional Chinese hansi in the 1910s and 1920s. In the $20^{th}$ century, many poets translated Chinese and Korean traditional hansi into Korean. In the early $20^{th}$ century, Korean language began to be used as a national public language. At that time, not only hansi but also poetry from several other languages had been translated into Korean. Choi Nam-sun in the 1910s and Kim So-woel, Kim Eok, and Lee Kwang-su in the 1920s translated Chinese traditional hansi, focusing on famous Dang dynasty poetry from Tu Fu and Li Bai, etc. Choi Nam-sun's translation in the 1910s aimed to consider poetry as a written literature. On the contrary, Kim So-woel, Kim Eok, and Lee Kwang-su believed that Korean modern verse literature should be songs as well as poetry, and their translations in the 1920s aimed to create songs as spoken literature by focusing on orality and universality. Though Korean is now the language, the literary history of hansi continues in modern poetry.

THE PAPYRUS CODEX -A SURVEY- (파피러스 코덱스에 관한 고찰)

  • 일반적으로 파피러스(papyrus)는 4세기에 벨럼(vellum)의 사용으로 그 사용이 대체될 때까지 서양에 있어서 책(冊)의 유일한 재료로서 생각되고 있으며, 또한 파피러스는 두루말이(roll)형태의, 양피지(parchment)는 코덱스(codex) 형태의 도서를 의미하였다고 가정되고 있다. 이 보문(報文)은 문헌조사에 의한 개관으로서, 파피러tm와 코덱스에 대해 각각 서술하였고, 위의 가정을 논했으며, 파피러스 코덱스의 외형에 관하여 기술하였다. 코덱스라는 새로운 형태의 책이 양피지에서부터 시작된 것은 사실이나 두루말이에서부터 코덱스로의 변화가 반드시 도서재료의 변화를 뜻하지는 않는다. 그 최초의 사용시기는 알 수 없으나, 파피러스재료가 코덱스 형태에 차용되었음은 확실하다. 파피러스 코덱스에 대한 참조로서, 84-86년에 쓰여진 마샬(Martial)의 시에서 처음 언급하였으며 카시오도로스 (Cassiodorus)의 저서에 나타난 문귀는 6세기에도 사용되었음을 나타낸다. 확실한 것은 2세기초부터 4세기에 벨럼이 도서의 주재료가 될 때까지 기독교문학 특히 성경에 사용되었음이다. 1897년, 그레코${\cdot}$로망시대의 에집트마을인 옥시링쿠스(Oxyrhnchus)답사에서 그렌휄(Grenfell)과 헌트(Hunt)는 파피러스 책을 처음 발굴하였다. 즉, 200년경에 쓰여진 로기아(Logia;예수교훈집)로서 페이지수가 매겨진 근대도서형태의 단편이었다. 체스터 베이티(Chester Beatty)소장 파피러스는 그 전부가 재료는 파피러스이며, 형태는 코덱스이고, 내용은 기독교문학이다. 이는 파피러스 코덱스가 2세기초부터 기독교도에 치매 사용되어 왔음을 확실하게 말해 준다. 진정한 의미의 도서제본은 파피러스로 만든 코덱스에서 시작되었다. 이는 근대도서와 같이 장(sheet )이나 첩(quire)을 묶어서 제본하였다. 이때의 접는 방법, 배열, 크기 및 종행단(縱行段)에 대해서 기술하였다.

  • In the climate of increasing calls for academic assessment, the author undertook a study to ascertain availability of original texts and their translations in the academic library. The object of this study is to compare the use frequency of original texts by academic major of users in the university libraries. To achieve this object, the author collected the data stored in 3 Korean university library online systems from September 10th to 30th, 1995 and tested the hypotheses by using the Minitab statistical package. A Study on Korean Poetry Generation System Based on Artificial Intelligence (인공지능 기반 한국어 시 생성 시스템 개발 연구)

  • In this study, we developed an AI-based system to generate sentences that assist in creating Korean poetry. Instead of replacing the creative aspect of composition, which is considered a unique domain of humans, the focus was on generating foundational sentences to enhance human imagination efficiently. By conducting interviews with poets, the researchers extracted sentences from eight distinct datasets, enabling the generation of poetry across eight different genres. This study stands out for its innovation in developing a method for crafting literary works in Korean. Its significance lies in its potential to facilitate the creation of diverse literary forms such as essays, prose, or novels.

A Study on the Visual Literacy for Picture Book Reviews (그림책 서평의 시각적 문식성에 관한 연구)

  • As a public institution, it is the duty and responsibility of a library to provide readers with information about books. To provide such information to readers, a librarian should have the ability to provide satisfactory consultation and advice. As interest in picture books grows, there is an increasing need for libraries and librarians to produce and release picture book reviews on a regular basis to inform readers of what makes a good picture book, and which among similar books should they choose. Other than summarizing the content of a picture book, a good picture book review should also provide additional information that will help readers understand the reviewed book such as the literary symbolism of a book's visual texts. To this end, a librarian is required to develop visual literacy, which would enable him/her to read into the deeper meaning of the images imbued with the writer's ideas and philosophy. In light of the above discussion, this study compares and analyzes two picture book versions of the story Little Red Riding Hood, with the purpose of helping librarians understand the visual texts that they need to refer to when writing picture book reviews.

  • ‘광세기의 창조’라는 주제로 지난 9월 2일부터 5일까지 개최되었던 2003국제광산업전시회가 내ㆍ외국인들의 큰 관심속에 개최되었다. 이번 전시회는 국내ㆍ외11개국 163개사에서 269개부스 규모로 참여하여 지난해 전시회와 비슷한 규모로 개최되어 우리 국내의 광산업에 대한 기대와 신지식, 첨단산업으로 발돋음하는 국가전략산업의 면모를 엿볼 수 있었다. 또한 국제적인 광전문학술발표의 장인 국제광자기술학술대회는 프로그램의 다양화 및 국제 권위의 광관련 과학자들을 초청해 광산업의 국제시장동향과 신기술 정보제공에 많은 기여를 하였다. 이에 본지는 4일동안 개최된 이번 전시회의 다양한 행사를 화보로 엮어본다.

Utilizing Literary Texts in the College EFL Classrooms: Focused on Linguistic Aspects and Affective Ones (문학텍스트를 활용한 대학 교양영어 수업: 의사소통의 언어적 측면과 정서적 측면을 중심으로)

  • This study aims to investigate the effects of literary texts as a teaching tool to enhance college students' English communicative competence both in linguistic aspects and affective ones. The control group used only the course book as study material, whereas the target group read four short stories along with it and engaged in a series of follow-up tasks. To measure their English competence, the researcher had both groups take a pre-test and a post-test, compared the results, and analyzed the data using SPSS. The study indicates that though the target students' post-test scores increased, the result failed in reaching a significant level. Nevertheless, reading and discussing literature facilitated the target students' affective aspects of communication. This article points out some other limitations of utilizing literary texts in language teaching and suggests the need for further research to deal with the issues.

  • 지능형교통시스템(ITS) 구축 사업을 통해 수집된 소통정보, 대중교통정보 등의 교통관련 정보를 제공하기 위한 방법으로 교통정보 안내전화(ARS)를 적용하여 도로 이용자에게 교통정보를 제공하고 있다. 도로 이용자에게 보다 편리한 교통정보 서비스를 제공하기 위한 일환으로 교통정보 안내전화(ARS)에 음성인식을 적용하고 있다. 그러나 초기 ARS에 음성인식을 적용한 결과 음성인식 성공률은 상당히 높은 것으로 나타났으나, 이용자가 증가하여 샘플링 수가 증가함에 따라 음성 인식 성공률은 점차 저하되고 있는 실정이다. 이를 해결하기 위한 방안으로 충분한 샘플링을 확보하여 주기적이고 지속적인 음성인식에 대한 튜닝을 실시하여 음성인식에 대한 성공률을 향상 시킬 필요가 있다.
