  • This study investigated the definition and characteristics of computer science problem to be solved through computational thinking. It also explored types and cases of both computer science problems and teaching learning methods to solve computer science problems. Before studying computer science problems, I examined the definition, type, and the importance of problem solving in other subjects. Based on this research, We found that informatics can solve ill-structured problems through computational thinking and the power of computing. This includes counting, decision, retrieval, and optimization problems. Teachers can improve their students' skills in computational thinking, particularly as related to abstraction, automation, and generalization, by choosing the appropriate teaching and learning method or based on the characteristics of the problem.

Methodology is literature review and focus group interview. The students who attended the elective course 'creative women and science' was participated during 15 weeks. Through this teaching-learning methods, students were fully aware of learning methods for creative problem solving, sought for problems, clarified problems, found solutions through discussions, and continuously examined ideas by receiving feedbacks. They could deduce creative new solutions to solve encountered problems regarding team dynamics and apply it in real situation. As the results of applying teaching-learning methods for creative problem solving to a course in University, it had the advantages of enhancing students' competencies in analyzing problems and applying derived solutions in actual field.

  • This study investigates the influence of project-based learning method on the self-directed learning and problem-solving abilities of students taking the 'Media Center Management' course in Library Information Science (LIS). During this study, two tests measuring students' self-directed learning and problem-solving abilities were conducted, containing 48 items divided into 8 categories and 30 items divided into 5 steps of problem-solving processes, respectively. By utilizing the correspondence sample T-test during this study, statistically significant results were found in all categories of self-directed learning, excluding the 'self-understanding' category. In addition, significant differences were found in the 5 steps problem-solving processes as well. Subsequently, an in-depth interview was conducted, inquiring into the students' perspectives on the difficulty of attending classes, the content of lectures, the appropriateness of assignments, the validity of the evaluation method, the relationship with their team members, and the benefits acquired from completing the assignments. Finally, suggestions for future research were presented.

  • This study was a descriptive research investigating the impact of simulation-based learning on the problem solving process and clinical competence of new nurses. The 202 participants were new nurses who have provided nursing care for less than 12 months have experienced simulation-based learning more than once in their undergraduate courses. This study found that the number of times participants have experienced the simulation-based learning had no correlation with their problem solving process and clinical competence, but simulation design features correlated with their problem solving process and clinical competence. The results of clustering analysis that examined differences in the effects on problem solving process and clinical competence by classifying simulation design features by clustering also showed significant differences. This study has confirmed the importance of simulation design to simulation-based learning in nursing education. We hope that the findings of the study will be used for effective operation of simulation-based learning. In the future, objective assessment methods will be required to evaluate the effects of simulation-based learning provided in undergraduate courses on nurses' clinical competence.

  • It is organized to evaluate the effect of nursing students' learning attitude, learning motivation, problem solving ability, and class participation, after applying team-based learning to basic nursing classes. The subjects were 103 people in the second year of the G region. The data collection was from September 1 to December 5, 2016 by using t-test, one-way ANOVA, paired t-test and Pearson's correlation coefficient. Result is that the ability to solve problems increased, showing a statistically significant difference. Learning attitude and motivation of learning increased and the degree of participation didn't change, but there were no statistically significant differences. The learning attitude shows positive correlation with learning motivation, problem-solving skills and participation. After team based-learning, learning attitude showed a positive correlation with learning motivation, problem solving ability and class participation. Learning motivation shows positive correlation with class participation and so does problem solving ability with participation. Based on the results of this study, in order to improve the practical ability, it is necessary to activate the self-directed active learning method such as team base for nursing major study.

  • This study was attempted to verify the mediating effect of perceived interaction in the relationship between learning flow and problem-solving confidence of nursing students who experienced team-based nursing practice learning. The subjects of this study were 148 senior nursing students who experienced team-based nursing practice learning classes. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire. For data analysis, descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation analysis, hierarchical multiple regression analysis, and Sobel test were conducted. The results of the study showed that nursing students' learning flow was 3.58±0.56 points, perceived interaction was 4.06±0.56 points, and problem-solving confidence was 3.67±0.53 points on average. Learning flow of nursing students showed a positive correlation with perceived interaction(r=0.63, p<.001) and problem-solving confidence(r=0.74, p<.001). Perceived interaction showed a partial mediating effect in the relationship between learning flow and problem-solving confidence(z=5.31, p<.001). It may be necessary to develop programs to improve nursing students' learning flow, perceived interaction, and problem-solving confidence, and to improve their clinical practice ability to solve nursing problems in various nursing settings.

  • This study aims to suggest an instructional design to improve CT(Computational Thinking) skills in terms of problem solving. CT can be defined as a thought processes for computer-based problem solving. Examining the related CT concepts in the general problem solving process can be helpful for learners to understand CT. For this, this study selects the key elements of CT through literature review, describes how the elements are related to each phrase of the problem solving process, and explores cognitive aspects of the CT elements. In addition, this study describes learning activities and learning assessments of the CT elements according to each phrase of problem solving process and suggests a basic instructional design framework for CT in view of problem solving.
