Teaching and Learning on the Computational Estimation Using Role Play in an Actual Life Problem Situation - Centered on the 3rd Grade - (역할극 중심의 실생활 문제 상황의 어림학습 지도에 관한 연구 - 초등 3학년을 중심으로 -)

  • It is the purpose of this study to help computational estimation study to settle down in effective teaching method through analysis how students are understanding computational estimation and what occurs using computational estimation in actual life problem situations. I set 3 cases to accomplish these purposes. (1) How students are understanding computational estimation? (2) How students' computational estimation ability is in applying actual life problem situation? (3) What is students' different attitudes in an actual life problem situation before studying computational estimation and after? To accomplish tile purpose, I chose 6 third grade students and taught 'Computational estimation using actual life problem situation' and analyzed students computational estimation processing. Then I arranged the computational estimation processing in an actual life problem situation and differences between the before and tile after. As a result, I obtained the followings. (1) Need of estimation: Every students could recognize the need of estimation with experiencing an actual life problem situation. (2) Choosing the order of decimals: Students could choose appropriate order of decimals according to an actual life problem situations. (3) Using strategy: They usually use rounding strategy and quite often use special number and compatible number strategy.

  • In the traditional computing paradigm, developers design software to run in a fixed and well-defined environment. The real environment, however, is too complicated to analyze all situations perfectly. Consequently, traditional software, which is implemented only for what is wanted as input, often fails badly in real environment. As a new approach, self-adaptive software can avoid runtime failures adapting to unpredictable situations. Self-adaptive software must firstly evaluate the contextual situation to determine the need for adaptation. Existing researches do not support the abstraction mechanism for identifying contextual problem. Consequently, they can have troubles with identifying the contextual problem as the execution environment is getting complex. In addition, they cannot support the expandability for contextual problems, which software can evaluate. This paper suggests the goal-based evaluation method of contextual situation for coping with the limitations of existing researches.

4학년 아동들의 수학적 문제설정 활동의 효과

  • 본 연구는 초등학교 수학의 연산 영역에 있어서, 문제설정활동의 두 가지 방법(문제꾸미기, 문제만들기) 중 어느 방법이 4학년 아동의 수학적 문제해결력에 더 효과적인지 알아보고, 아동의 학습능력수준과 성별에 따라 수학적 문제해결력의 신장에 더 유용한 문제설정방법을 찾아보는데 그 목적이 있었다. 그 결과 '문제꾸미기'에 의한 문제설정방법이 학습 수준이 상 ${\cdot}$중위 집단에서 유용한 방법이며, 문제해결력 요소 중 문제구성력과 전략적용력을 신장시킬 수 있다는 방법이라는 것을 알 수 있었고 남녀성별에 따른 유의미한 차이는 없었다. 이런 연구 결과로 주어진 문제를 조건과 내용을 바꾸는 다소 쉬운 문제설정 방법보다는 어떤 상황만 제시하고 그 상황 속에서 문제를 만들어보는 문제꾸미기의 문제설정 방법이 문제해결력의 신장에 도움이 됨을 알 수 있었다.

The Application of the Problem Based Learning Model in Science Classes and Analysis of It's Effects (과학수업에서 문제중심학습의 적용 및 효과 분석)

  • The purpose of this study was to develop 'the problem situations' for the Problem Based Learning(PBL) and to examine it's effects on the science achievement and the attitude towards science learning. Also the students' perception on the PBL model was examined. The topics of the problem situations developed were 'the future energy for reducing the green house effect' and 'the Indonesian forest fire and the El Nino'. The coaching strategies for the PBL were designed and implemented to 10th grade high school students in the science classes, the results are follows; First, the science achievement of the group of PBL is significantly higher than those of group of traditional teaching. Second, the scores of the test of attitude toward science learning of the group of PBL is significantly higher than those of group of traditional teaching. Third, the students' perception of the PBL was positive. Many students have interests and motivations in PBL, some students have difficulties in learning on the PBL. In the students' personal reflection notes the step of a problem statement is the hardest one of the PBL model. Therefore, this study suggests that developing the problem situations based on real context is of great importance for implementing a problem based learning model continuously.

  • In this paper, we reviewed the history of mathematical problem solving since 1900 and investigated problem solving in modeling perspective which is focused on the 21th century. In modeling perspective, problem solvers solve the realistic problem which includes contextualized situations in which mathematics is useful. In this case, the problem is different from the traditional problems which are routine, close, and words problem, etc. Problem solving in modeling perspective emphasizes mathematizing. Most of all, what is important enables students to use mathematics in everyday problem solving situation.

  • 본 논문에서는 기존 재난문자의 원리인 CBS(Cell Broadcast Service)의 한계를 극복하는 알고리즘을 제안한다. 재난 상황에서 CBS는 단방향으로 사람들에게 정보를 전달할 수 있으나 양방향 소통이 불가능하여, 어떤 사람이 어디에서 문제를 겪고 있는지를 파악할 수 없다. 재난 상황 시 효율적으로 정보를 관리하고, 요구조자에 대한 구조를 진행할 수 있다. 본 논문에서 제안하는 방법은 상황 설명과 위치 등을 생략하는 등 재난 피해 신고를 간편화하여 재난 상황으로 인한 피해를 추정하기 힘들다는 문제를 개선할 수 있다. 또한 이전에는 위치와 상황을 구체적으로 알려야 신고가 접수되었지만, 사용자가 위치와 상황을 구체적으로 알리지 않더라도 문자로 구조 요청이 가능해진다. 더 나아가, 재난 상황 시 음성을 추적할 수 있게 하여 직접 구조요청을 하지 못하는 상황에 대한 대처도 가능하다.

Gender Differences Between the Relative Contributions of Variables to Problem Finding in Ill-structured and Moderately Structured Problem Situation (구조화 정도가 다른 문제 상황에서 문제발견에 대한 제 변인의 상대적 기여도에서의 남녀 차이)

  • The 166 elementary school students of this study were divided into four groups by gender and degree of structure in problem situations. Written instruments ascertained intelligence, conceptual knowledge, science process skills, divergent thinking, intrinsic/extrinsic motivation, personality traits, and home environment. Results were that male students scored higher on problem finding in the ill-structured than in the moderately structured problem situation. In the ill-structured problem situation, personality traits, conceptual knowledge, and intrinsic motivation contributed to the scores of male students and home environment and conceptual knowledge contributed to the scores of female students. In the moderately structured problem situation, personality traits and intrinsic motivation contributed to the scores of all students, but science process skills contributed to the scores of female students only.

  • 지능형 정보 에이전트 시스템에서 사용되는 디폴트 규칙 시스템의 결론 집합을 생성하기 위한 추론 과정에서 불일치를 발생할 수 있는 새로운 오순 상황을 제시하고, 이를 해결할 수 있는 새로운 의미론을 정의한다. 확장 논리 프로그램은 추론된 결과 집합에서 같은 심벌이 양의 부호와 음의 부호를 동시에 가진 형태로 존재하는 경우에 모순이 발생하게 된다. 막장 논리 프로그램에 기반을 둔 디폴트 추론 시스템에서도 이런 모순을 가지게 되며, 이 문제를 해결하기 위한 방법이 정의되어 있다. 하지만, 비단조 추론을 하는 디폴트 규칙 시스템에서는 이런 문제 외에도 모순이 발생하게 된다. 하지만, 기존의 연구에서는 이러한 문제를 해결하는 방범이 고려되지 않았다. 최근에 들어서 디폴트 규칙 시스템은 지능형 에이전트에 내재되면서 에이전트간의 협상과 업데이트 등에 많이 사용되고 있다. 만일, 에이전트 내에서 규칙 시스템이 모순 상황이 발생하는 경우 예기치 않은 손실이 발생하게 된다. 따라서 결론 집합을 일관성 있게 추론하는 것은 지능형 에이전트 시스템의 신뢰성을 높이기 위해서 반드시 필요한 사항이다. 더욱이 에이전트 시스템의 사용분야가 지속적으로 늘어나는 상황에서 기존에 제안된 모순 이외에 각 분야에서 특성에 따라서 발생 가능한 모순이 발생하게 되며, 이 문제를 해결하는 것이 중요한 문제이다. 본 논문에서는 기존에 정의된 모순 외에 발생 가능한 문제점을 제시하고 이를 해결하기 위한 새로운 규칙 시스템의 의미론을 정의하였다.

The relationship between the students' strategy types and the recognition for proportional situations (학생들의 문제해결전략 유형과 비례상황 인지와의 관계)

  • The purpose of this research was to investigate the relationship between the students' strategy types and the recognition for proportional situations. The students' strategy types which were based on the results of ratio and proportion tests were divided into an additive type, a multiplicative type, and a formal type. This research analyzed the students' activities of categorization when were given the proportional problems and nonproportional problems to the students. And it also explored how to develop students' recognizing for the discrimination between the proportional situations and nonproportional situations. The results was the following. First, the students didn't discriminate the proportional situations and the nonproportional situations in the initial state but they came to discriminate little by little. Secondly, the students didn't discriminate the direct proportions and the inverse proportions until the last stage. Third, the multiplicative type was outperformed more than the formal type in solving the ratio and proportion problems but the formal type was outperformed more than the multiplicative type in discriminating between proportional situations and nonproportional situations. These results are interpreted as showing that solving ratio and proportion tasks and recognizing proportional situations are different aspects of proportional reasoning and it is necessary to understand multiplicative strategy with formal strategy in recognizing proportional situations.

  • The Korean national curriculum for secondary school emphasizes scientific problem solving. In line with the national curriculum, many educational studies have been conducted in relation to science education. The objects of these studies were well-defined and well-structured problems. The studies were criticized for overlooking ill-defined and ill-structured problems. Some research has dealt with problem finding in ill-structured problems, which is related to creativity. There is a need for a study of scientific problem finding process in an ill-structured problem situation, because this study will help teachers wanting to teach scientific problem-finding in an ill-structured problem situation. The objective of this study was to conduct an empirical study on the scientific problem finding process in an ill-structured problem situation. One task of scientific problem finding in an ill-structured problem situation was assigned to 92 university students; thereafter, 32 of them participated in the research through interviews. Results indicated that the scientific problem finding process depended on initial clues and tentative solutions. Initial clues were affected by students' experiences, such as major classes, films, and novels. Tentative solutions were influenced by background knowledge of the tasks. Students screened information browsed on the Internet. They applied some standards for selection, particularly emphasized reliability standards, which are supposed to be studied in other contexts. All the students used assumptions to make their problems appear probable, which could be a useful tool to articulate.
