Design of The 10bit 80MHz CMOS D/A Converter with Switching Noise Reduction Method (스위칭 잡음 감소기법을 이용한 10비트 80MHz CMOS D/A 변환기 설계)

  • This paper describes a 10 bit 80MHz CMOS D/A converter for wireless communication system. The proposed circuit in the paper is implemented with a $0.18{\mu}m$ CMOS n-well 1-poly 6-metal process. The architecture of the circuit consists of the 4bit LSB with binary decoder, and both the 3bit ULSB and the 3bit MSB with the thermometer decoder. The measurement results demonstrates SFDR of 60.42dBc at sampling frequency 80MHz, input frequency 1MHz and ENOB of 8.75bit. INL and DNL have been measured to be ${\pm}$0.38LSB and ${\pm}$0.32LSB and glitch energy is measured to be 4.6$pV{\cdot}s$. Total power dissipation is 48mW at 80MHz(maximum sampling frequency) with a single power supply of 1.8V.

  • To sense a wide area with mobile nodes, the uniformity of node deployment is a very important issue. In this paper, we consider the coverage problem to sense big data in sparse mobile ad hoc networks. In most existing works on the coverage problem, it has been assumed that the number of nodes is large enough to cover the area in the network. However, the coverage problem in sparse mobile ad hoc networks differs in the sense that a long-distance between nodes should be formed to avoid the overlapping coverage areas. We formulate the sensor coverage problem in sparse mobile ad hoc networks and provide the solution to the problem by a self-organized approach without a central authority. The experimental results show that our approach is more efficient than the existing ones, subject to both of coverage areas and energy consumption.

  • Recently, IALA has introduced AIS AtoN and standardized Aids to Navigation communication system and the World-wide IALA-Net has announced plans to build the system. Systematic beacon network may offer opportunities to make infrastructure for information service and upgrade AtoN service performance. This paper proposes Aids to Navigation information service network for e-NAV. Network based on AIS is consist of AIS AtoN channels as Real, Synthetic or Virtual AIS AtoN. And inner network is consist of Wireless networks as AIS, WCDMA, WIFI, WlBRO, USN or VSAT. Introducing of various network systems can lead to combine and design among land, beacon and service network infrastructures.

The Study on Highly Miniaturized Active 90°C Phase Difference Power Divider and Combiner for Application to Wireless Communication (무선 통신 시스템 응용을 위한 초소형화된 능동형 90°C 위상차 전력 분배기와 결합기에 관한 연구)

  • This paper propose highly miniaturized active $90^{\circ}C$ phase difference power divider and combiner for application to wireless communication system. The conventional passive $90^{\circ}C$ power divider and combiner cannot be integrated on MMIC because of their very large circuit size. Therefore, the highly miniaturized active $90^{\circ}C$ phase difference power divider and combiner are required for a development of highly integrated MMIC. In this paper, the highly miniaturized active $90^{\circ}C$ phase difference power divider and combiner employing InGaAs/GaAs HBT were designed, fabricated on GaAs substrate. According to the results, the circuit size of fabricated active $90^{\circ}C$ phase difference power divider and combiner were $1.67{\times}0.87$ mm and $2.42{\times}1.05$ mm, respectively, which were 31.6% and 2.2% of the size of conventional passive branch-line coupler. The output gain division characteristic of proposed divider circuit showed 8.4 dB and 7.9 dB respectively, and output phase difference characteristic showed $-89.3^{\circ}C$. The output gain coupling characteristic of proposed combiner circuit showed 9.4 dB and 10.5 dB respectively, and output phase difference characteristic showed $-92.6^{\circ}C$. The highly miniaturized active $90^{\circ}C$ phase difference power divider and combiner exhibited good RF performances compared with the conventional passive branch-line coupler.

Distributed Grid Scheme using S-GRID for Location Information Management of a Large Number of Moving Objects (대용량 이동객체의 위치정보 관리를 위한 S-GRID를 이용한 분산 그리드 기법)

  • Recently, advances in mobile devices and wireless communication technologies require research on various location-based services. As a result, many studies on processing k-nearest neighbor query, which is most im portant one in location-based services, have been done. Most of existing studies use pre-computation technique to improve retrieval performance by computing network distance between POIs and nodes beforehand in spatial networks. However, they have a drawback that they can not deal with effectively the update of POIs to be searched. In this paper, we propose a distributed grid scheme using S-GRID to overcome the disadvantage of the existing work as well as to manage the location information of a large number of moving objects in efficient way. In addition, we describe a k-nearest neighbor(k-NN) query processing algorithm for the proposed distributed grid scheme. Finally, we show the efficiency of our distributed grid scheme by making a performance comparison between the k-NN query processing algorithm of our scheme and that of S-GRID.

  • Recently to introduce new services of ultra-high speed wireless access and systems beyond the 3rd generation mobile communication, 5 GHz band has been highly interested. As a way of getting the required frequency, it is considered that microwave relay bands below 6 GHz, which shows a slow decrease in demand and less cost-effectiveness, should be moved to other bands above 6 GHz. In this paper, as a tool for analyzing microwave link design and its service quality, the outage prediction based upon Vigants & Barnett's model is reviewed. To show outage and availability calculation, simulations are performed for the operating 4 GHz radio sites, and some results and features regarding frequency movement to 6.7 as well as 8 GHz are also discussed in terms of diversity techniques, bit error rate, and availability As the results, it is confirmed that only the diversity techniques of space or space and frequency can satisfy the annual objective of availability irrespective of frequency movement.

  • In this paper, new wideband lens amplifiers are proposed for C-band wireless communication service. In order to obtain the wideband property, all components of the proposed lens amplifiers are designed with balanced structure and wideband characteristics. Fat dipole antenna as the input and output antenna, balanced amplifier as amplifying components, and coplanar stripline(CPS) as the delay line fer the beam focusing are used fur composing the stable wideband lens amplifier. The $5{\times}5$ 2D lens amplifier has the characteristics that the absolute gain is 7.5 dB, the EIPG is 37.4 dB at 6 GHz, and the 3-dB gain bandwidth is 19.8 %.

  • SyncML is an open standard data synchronization protocol proposed by OMA(Open Mobile Alliance). In this paper, a Session Handler module, one of major modules for developing SyncML data synchronization clients, and a client User Setup program are designed and implemented. The Session Handier Module controls communication sessions, generates header parts of messages exchanged, and determines the legitimacy of incoming messages. In order to justify normal operations of the Session Handler module and the client User Setup program implemented In this paper, they are ported to a Zaurus PDA, which runs on LINUX operating system. In addition, data synchronization operations are performed between the PDA and a Synthesis sever, whose SyncML data synchronization operation is certificated by OMA, Wireless Internet International Standard Forum.

  • Cryptographic algorithm testing is performed to ensure that a specific algorithm implementation is implemented correctly and functions correctly. CMVP(Cryptographic Module Validation Program) of NIST in US is the well-known testing system that validates cryptographic modules to Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS). There is no FIPS-approved stream cipher, and CMVP doesn't involve its validation testing procedure. In this paper we provide validation systems for three currently used light-weight stream ciphers: Bluetooth encryption algorithm E0, 3GPP encryption algorithm A5/3, and RC4 used for WEP and SSL/TLS Protocols. Moreover we describe our validation tools implemented by JAVA programing.

  • Vehicular communication networking is one of the most important building blocks of Intelligent Transportation System (ITS). The vehicular communication network is a wireless communication system enabling vehicles to communicate with each other as well as with roadside base stations. Mobility management of vehicles which move at high speeds and occasionally make a long journey is an interesting research area of vehicular communication networks. Recently, The Proxy Mobile IPv6 (PMIPv6) protocol is proposed for network-based mobility management to reduce the overhead of mobile nodes. PMIPv6 shifts the burden of the mobility management from mobile nodes to network agents to decrease the overhead and latency for the mobility management. In this paper, we derive the scenario of deploying PMIPv6 in vehicular communication networks and propose a new LMA handover mechanism for realizing the scenario. By carrying out the ns-2 based simulations, we verify the operability of the proposed mechanism.
