Measurement of the Phase Errors of AWG by Using the Monte-Carlo Analysis (몬테카를로 분석 방법을 이용한 AWG의 위상 오차 측정)

  • We propose a new method to measure the phase errors of an AWG(arrayed waveguide grating) through Monte-Carlo analysis. In the frequency domain method, we used the Monte-Carlo method to fit the theory to the experimental results. The phase and amplitude values are obtained from the fitted theory. To verify our method, we carried out a simulation. Some phase errors were included to make a virtual interferogram and we measured the actual AWG phase errors from it by our method. The results show that our method gives good results if the laser tuning range is larger than 1.7 times of the AWG FSR(free spectral range) and if the phase errors are within ${\pm}50^{\circ}$.

  • Dynamic response of an elastic pendulum system under random excitations was studied by using the Lagrangian equations of motion which uses the kinetic and potential energy of a target system. The responses of random excitations were calculated by using Monte Carl simulation which uses the series of random numbers. The procedure of Monte Carlo simulation is generation of random numbers, system model, system output, and statistical management of output. When the levels of random excitations were changed, the expected responses of the pendulum system showed various responses.

Performance Analysis of Monopulse System Based on Third-Order Taylor Expansion in Additive Noise (부가성 잡음이 존재하는 모노펄스 시스템 성능의 3차 테일러 전개 기반 해석적 분석)

  • In this paper, it is shown how the performance of the monopulse algorithm in the presence of an additive noise can be obtained analytically. In the previous study, analytic performance analysis based on the first-order Taylor series and the second-order Taylor series has been conducted. By adopting the third-order Taylor series, it is shown that the analytic performance based on the third-order Taylor series can be made closer to the performance of the original monopulse algorithm than the analytic performance based on the first-order Taylor series and the second-order Taylor series. The analytic MSE based on the third-order Taylor approximation reduces the analytic MSE error based on the second-order Taylor approximation by 89.5%. It also shows faster results in all cases than the Monte Carlo-based MSE. Through this study, it is possible to explicitly analyze the angle estimation ability of monopulse radar in an environment where noise jamming is applied.

  • A preliminary thermal analysis is performed for the optical payload system of a geostationary satellite. The optical payload considered in this paper is GOCI(Geostationary Ocean Color Imager) of COMS of Korea. The radiative and conductive thermal models are employed in order to predict thermal responses of the GOCI on the geostationary orbit. According to the results of this analysis are as follows: 1) the GOCI instrument thermal control is satisfactory to provide the temperatures for the GOCI performances, 2) the thermal control is defined and interfaces are validated, and 3) the entrance baffle temperature is found slightly out its specification, therefore further detailed analyses should be continued on this element.

  • 평균조도 계산법 중에서 국내에서 주로 사용되는 3배광법과 ZCM의 정확도를 비교하고, 그 적용한계를 파악하였다. 비교방법은 전반확산형 조명기구와 직접식 조명기구에 대하여 3배광법과 ZCM에 의한 조명률을 계산하고, 이 값들을 이용하여 여러 상황하에서의 평균조도를 계산하였다. 몬테카를로 시뮬레이션으로 동일상황에서의 조도값을 구하고, 이 값과 3배광법과 ZCM의 조도값을 각각 비교하였다. MCS법의 정확도는 Moon위 해석적인 방법과 비교하여 입증하였다. 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 1. 방의 크기에 따른 평균조도 비교에서 전반확 형 조명기구와 직접식 조명기구의 경우 3배광법 보다 ZCM이 평균조도 오차가 적었다. 2. 광원의 수 변화에 따른 평균조도 비교에서 직접식 조명기구의 경우 3배광법은 광원의 수가 증가할수록 평균조도 오차가 감소하다가 다시 증가하였고 ZCM 은 점차적으로 감소하였다. 3. 실내면 반사율 변화에 따른 비교에서 직접식 조명기구의 경우 오차 범의가 3배광법에서 크고 ZCM에서 적게 나타냈다. 4. 방의 형태 변화에 따른 평균조도 비교에서 직접식 조명기구의 경우 방의 폭이 좁고 길이가 긴 공간에서 3배광법과 ZCM모두 오차가 크게 낱났다. 또 정방형에서 가까울수록 오차는 작아지면서 3배광법 보다 ZCM의 오차가 적었다. 그러므로 우리나라에서 혼용되고 있는 3배광법과 ZCM중에서 정확도가 높은 ZCM선택이 바람직하다.

Strength Evaluation and Eailure Analysis of Unidirectional Composites Using Monte-Carlo Simulation (몬테카를로 시뮬레이션을 이용한 일방향 복합재의 강도평가 및 파손 해석)

  • Tensile strength and failure process of composite materials depend on the variation in fiber strength, matrix properties and fiber-matrix interfacial shear strength. A Monte-Carlo simulation considering variation in these factors has been widely used to analyze such a complicated phenomenon as a strength and simulated the failure process of unidirectional composites. In this study, a Monte Carlo simulation using 2-D and 3-D(square and hexagonal array) model was performed on unidirectional graphite/epoxy and glass/polyester composites. The results simulated by using 3-D hexagonal array model have a good agreement with the experimental data which were tensile strength and failure process of unidirectional composites.

제조시스템에서 성과지표 중심의 프로젝트 가치평가방법론의 개발

  • 신뢰성 있는 프로젝트 가치평가를 위해서는 프로젝트 투자에 의해 발생하는 효과들을 정확하게 파악하고, 이를 계량적이고 객관적으로 측정할 수 있는 평가방법론을 개발하는 것이 매우 중요하다. 전통적으로 제조시스템에서의 프로젝트 가치평가는 재무적 방식에 의한 평가에 기초해 왔다. 그러나 제조시스템에서의 프로젝트 가치평가는 재무적 방식에 의한 평가에 기초해 왔다. 그러나 제조시스템에서 품질, 재고, 리드타임 등 비재무적 성과지표를 화폐가치로 정량화하는 것은 매우 어렵다. 따라서 최근에는 재무적 성과지표와 비재무적 성과지표를 모두 고려하는 성과지표 중심의 프로젝트 평가방법의 개발이 보편화되고 있으며, 전통적인 프로젝트 평가에서는 고려하지 않았던 불확실성을 확률분포로 고려하는 평가방법의 개발이 요구되고 있다. 그러나 현재까지 성과지표 간의 상호관계를 고려하여 프로젝트 투자에 의한 개별 성과지표의 개선을 정량적으로 평가하는 방법론에 관한 기존연구는 거의 없다. 본 논문은 제조시스템에서의 성과지표를 중심으로 공리적 설계에서의 정보공리의 정보량 개념을 이용한 프로젝트 평가방법론에 대해 제안한다. 본 논문에서는 개별 성과지표의 정보량 계산을 위한 수학적 모델링에 대해 고찰하고, 해석적 분석의 어려움을 해결하기 위해 몬테카를로 시뮬레이션의 적용에 대해 서술한다.

  • Activation products generated by photoneutrons in concrete shielding wall around electron linac were estimated for a high energy X-ray container cargo inspection system. Monte carlo code, MCNPX2.5.0 was used for reference system of 9MeV fixed type dual-direction container cargo inspection system installed at major harbors in Korea. Activation products inventory generated by photoneutron (n,$\gamma$) reaction are estimated, and then radiation dose rate is calculated from the results.

  • In this paper, we propose a stochastic finite element formulation which takes into account the randonmess in the material and geometrical parameters. The formulation is proposed for plate structures, and is based on the weighted integral approach. Contrary to the case of elastic modulus, plate thickness contributes to the stiffness as a third-order function. Furthermore, Poisson's ratio is even more complex since this parameter appears in the constitutive relations in the fraction form. Accordingly, we employ Taylor's expansion to derive decomposed stochastic field functions in ascending order. In order to verify the proposed formulation, the results obtained using the proposed scheme are compared with those in the literature and those of Monte Carlo analysis as well.
